    purpose of spot welding for batteries is to PREVENT overheating (when they, for example, soldered with tin battery is overheating and taking damage from it). at this video you can see how DO NOT PREVENT overheating. spot welding should be performed with short and hard touches, one in attempt, and battery should left to cool down for a while. IMHO.

      I totally agree, welding time should be around 0.1 second or preferably even less.
      You need very high current (at low voltage).

      I totally agree, this device definitely heats up batteries too much 1v is totally not enough for those thin wires.
      + Using cheap spot welding timer makes things a lot easier and safer
      One that I made a long time ago has 1.4v with really thick wires directly coming from transformer. And It still needs to have 7x20ms time, which is a lot in my opinion. You need to have 2-5v voltage (with 1200w transformer) with dual pulse control to have it make proper welds on batteries.

      This can only be accomplished by converting to low voltage.

      Make Stuff with Little Devil
      Two questions maybe you can help.
      I am building a spot welder that requires one of these transformers. It appears about the same size as you have there.
      I notice that you removed the insulation on the inside walls where your secondary coil was. Most others ive seen kept the secondary coil insulation in tact.
      On mine, i accidently removed the insulation while removing the secondary coil.
      1st question....should i insulate the inside walls where the secondary coil was? With maybe electrical tape?
      2nd question...... my welding cable is 32mm. Most others used 35mm. Is the 32mm sufficiant?
      Thanks in advance.

    • @BalkanHandyman
      @BalkanHandyman  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Little Devil, I noticed that the secondary windings are crossed (the left transformer's left side wire to the left post and the right transformer's left wire to the right post). I believe that this would create an out of phase condition weakening the effect of the AC sine wave. If you switch the secondary winding on one of the transformer to the other post (both left secondary wires to left post) you will have both the transformers in phase, more than doubling the speed and strength of the weld.

      Jay Obrine,
      How can they be out of face if the input and the output is connected in parallel?

    • @jayobrine8475
      @jayobrine8475 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you had wired the 2 transformers in series then it would act as one transformer having only one sine wave with double the voltage and half the wattage coming out. You would still have to pay attention to the wring connections to have the desired voltage. With 2 transformers in parallel you have 2 sine waves to deal with. If the windings or the connections of 2 AC transformer are wired different then the peak (+ voltage) and the trough (- voltage) of the AC current are not the same at the same time (in phase). Even the directions of the windings can have an effect. The further out of phase (out of alignment one sine wave is to the other) the more one wave cancels out the other. If the out of phase sine wave (the cosine) is 180 degrees out of phase than the result can be a complete cancellation of each other. Remember that transformers that appear to be the same (from the same manufacturers with the same specs) will still have some variances.

    • @jayobrine8475
      @jayobrine8475 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just reviewed the video and noticed at time line 1:56 (paused) that the wires to the secondary windings are also crossed. Since both the wires to the primary and the secondary are crossed the effect is canceled out. This would make the 2 transformers seem to be wire correctly in a parallel fashion. How ever, this still leaves the magnetic flux flowing the opposite directions in the transformers. The primary windings should be wound the same in both transformers, but the AC input is wired to opposing tabs, leaving the flux flowing in the opposite directions within the transformers. If the flux was flowing the same directions it would improve the end results.

      @@BalkanHandyman . MAS AMPERAJE EN PARALELO, MAS VOLTAJE EN SERIE O LINEA . PERO SI CRUZAS LAS FASES COMO HACE EN EL VIDEO PERDERAS AMPERAJE, SE CALENTARAN LOS TRAFOS Y METERAN RUIDO, UNIR LAS DOS ENTRADAS Y LAS DOS SALIDAS, ESE ES EL MONTAJE CORRECTO, RESPETANDO LAS FASES EN LA ALIMENTACION DE LOS TRASFORMADORES. ( EL BOBINADO EN SENTIDO DE LAS AGUJAS DEL RELOJ. )

    不要再用~微波爐變壓器~真的很浪費電!
    改用小~中小~中~中大~大形〈環形變压器〉~(不拆線/折線更好),110v空載初級電流(0.02A~0.05A~0.08A~0.2A~0.8~1A)省電!!!次級電压0.3V~0.5V~1v次級電流約(50A~200A~600A~700A~1200A~2200A)效率很高!!!

    If you're going to generate that much heat in your weld, you may as well solder the tabs onto the battery.
