@@xaviermccloud4586pretty sure he’s referring to bites that did damage. I work in peoples homes and have been for 17 years, worked at a vet before that. I’ve been bitten once, by a pit bull. He grabbed onto the back of my thigh and didn’t let go for a bit. Bit into it like a chunk of meat. I didn’t blame the dog or owner because I was in HIS home and his dog didn’t know me. I consider myself only bit once over my career, I’m not going to consider all the times a chihuahua or shihtzou nipped at my ankles. You have to consider the actual threat when weighing those facts. Edit: I don’t hate pit bulls, I’m just sharing my experience. I’m also aware they are a banned species in most Southern California apartments where I live for a reason.
I was almost attacked by a pit bull. It cornered me in MY garage. If I had run, it would have killed me. It ran at my legs, growling and barking, and stopped within a few inches of me. The only thing that saved my life was not moving. Then I slowly backed up away from the dog. Called 911 and on the phone with a dispatcher but no one ever came anyway. I swear Angels were there and helped me to not react.
Yeah my neighbor won't fix his fence. His little Yorkie is always running into our yard and playing sweetly with our dogs. Sure glad he doesn't have one of those pit bulls, then it might be an actual problem.
Im tired of people making excuses for toxic and abusive owners. I love people but stupid is stupid and people know better. If you adore dogs then you know they are all the same species of canine. There are very minor differences. Pitt bulls were bred to be dog aggressive but not human aggressive. They are super eager to please people otherwise they wouldn’t fight to the death for their owner. Dog aggression has been fading out of the breed for a long time and can now be prevented with early socialization. If there is a put bull with human aggression something is seriously wrong. I’ve been attacked by a Carolina dog, a weiner dog, a huge black lab, and a blue tick. But with all the pits I’ve been around in the south even as a child none of them so much as bared their teeth. There are many other breeds that go after kids. But you wouldn’t know because you don’t actually know what you’re talking about. Using your logic paired with the actual facts of reality, we shouldn’t have dogs period because so many are known for attacking children when not properly socialized. Pitts just aren’t one of them. 😂Your comment is pure diarrhea of the mouth! You’re just saying what you want to say. What you said is a complete misunderstanding. Dog breeds are developed through selective breeding for specific traits. Pit bulls were bred for strength, agility, and tenacity, qualities valued for tasks like bull-baiting. The traits they have, can make them more dangerous but they aren’t the only breed that can do what they do. Unpredictability was never a desired trait. The idea that they were intentionally bred to be unpredictable is simply false and misleading… nice try though dude! The behavior of any dog, including pit bulls, is primarily influenced by factors like environment, training, and socialization. Just like any other breed, pit bulls can be wonderful, loving companions when raised with care and responsibility. 100% all in how they are raised and treated… 100% owners fault!

I've seen pitbulls there were very good and intelligent dogs. I own land in a mountainous area separate from where I live. I have to pass through another person's property to get to my land. He had two bitbulls, a male and a female. This first time I drove up the male came out and barked a few times at me. I spoke to him in a quiet manner and he stopped and looked at me and then started doing what recognized as signs of friendliness. I talked to him for a few minutes. In the meantime, his mate who was chained (he was not) had moved in from of my truck. At this point, I looked at him and then at her and motioned to him to get her out of the way. He went over a pushed her out of the road! Never saw a dog that smart to take a request from a total stranger like that. In my opinion, it's all in how the dog is treated and trained.
Pretty much every time a dog kills a kid or baby it's a pitbull. Insurers will not cover homes with pitbulls even halfbreeds. Maybe it's correlation not causation - trash dog owners are far more likely to own pitbulls - but there appears to be an issue.
Well said man, I see a couple of people shaming the pitbull breed and it's just ridiculous. Owners are responsible for their behavior. Not the internal DNA lol pitbulls are SUPER loyal. Even loyal to strangers.
There is a reason the female was chained. A female usually initiates an attack and entices the males to continue the attack. My neighbor had 18 dogs at one time and his females were always the initiators of barking and charging. And of course once the males heard the barks , they came charging from wherever they were sitting.
My sister has a part pit bull. I don't like it and I don't trust it. It weighs about 60 lbs and does not mind no matter what she does. I was building something for her one day and it would not leave me alone. When it spilled some small parts and I pushed him, he turned and growled at me. I don't go to her house unless I absolutely have to.
Dogs (and owners)not trained usually have no reason to do what owner says . Yelling , hitting, whatever is not training . Hopefully you are able to visit with sister at your house ..

The reason these dogs are banned in my Canadian province. Owners who already have them, have to have muzzles on them while they are outdoors. Im an animal lover/activist but you cant change genetics or centuries of inbreeding especially when their sole purpose was for guarding, violence, not as pets. Their makeup with the locking jaw makes them more dangerous than other dogs when they attack. They will lock on, shake and tear you to shreds. Their jaw strength is too strong to pry open. Bad owners, bad pets.
You're certainly right that you can't change centuries of inbreeding and bad genetics, you're a great example of that. It's astounding how you got every single detail about pitbull history incorrect. Even how long the breed has been around. They don't have a locking jaw either, do you know anything about animals at all???
You are absolutely correct - it is genetics. I've discussed the issue with a senior veterinarian. He said that he has observed a pit that was dangerously violent at the young age of 6 months. It's truly amazing that the low-life trash people are revealing themselves on this issue.

Australian cattle dog or Australian shepherd? I'm really curious about the situation because this behavior is so out of character for these breeds it would almost have to be trained to bite people. That would really make me call animal services on the owner.
It doesn’t matter what breed a dog is. All dogs need training. I’ve seen so many people lately who get a dog and make no attempt to train them to do even the easiest things. The larger the dog is, the more important it is to train them. It’s sad.
1) Stop buying dogs you are unwilling to exercise and train every single day. 2) Under no circumstances allow your dog to roam by itself or with one or more other dogs. 3) Stop buying dogs from people who do not make TEMPERAMENT a priority. 4) Do not allow your dog to be left with a child unattended at any time. 5) Understand that dogs have their own minds and a mouthful of sharp teeth with naturally occurring predatory instinct and it is up to YOU to prevent that instinct from drifting toward humans. A huge percentage of bites and attacks could have been prevented if the dog or dogs were not roaming the streets, and if they were supervised, and if the owner had done just a BIT of research into dog body language. Owning dogs has become such a culture, but has somehow come without the culture of treating dogs like dogs! Yes they’re a family member but they’re not human! They need training and socialization and a realization that some breeds just ARE more risky than others because that’s what they were bred for (hunters, guardians, etc.) and having a breed meant to work in something that had to do with killing another large and aggressive being purely as a pet or fuzzy friend is not recommended unless you know how to train dogs, yet this type of dog seems to be highly attractive to people who have no idea what they’re doing. BE EDUCATED on the dog type you choose. Lastly, the APBT and similar breeds went from the standard of ANY aggression toward humans being a reason to be culled, to aggression toward humans being COMMON and even allowed to be bred! It’s breeding and having puppies for no reason other than to make money and then extremely poor management and bad breeding practices, and the folly simply continues with people who buy these poorly bred pups because they’re cute but have no idea how to train and manage them and probably don’t even care. Breed-specific legislation doesn’t work because while it may remove attacks occurring by pit bulls, it doesn’t remove the root cause: humans being irresponsible and not caring enough to do whatever necessary to protect other people and prioritize the safety of others over their own reputation and desires. Stop being selfish Stop buying dogs if you’re just trying to seem tough or cool or think people will think of you a certain way because you own some type of dog Stop breeding if making money is one of the reasons you do it Stop breeding and buying pit bulls as at-home pets unless you are an experienced dog owner, can catch predatory drift, have a good dog trainer, and you have the ability to keep your dog securely in your yard/home and can exercise it for 1+ hour of intense exercise every single day.

This pisses me off to no end. Pit bulls, when raised right, can be sweet lovable canines. People raise them to be vicious monsters. About 11 years ago, I rescued two pit-puppies. My friends took one each and I still see them to this day. They're lovable and kind dogs.
They did what they had to do to defend their lives. You can tell that they didn't want to harm any animals they just didn't want to get mauled by a huge dog
My son and daughter in law have pitties. They are very loving, gentle pets. It really is the amount of time you put into them, just like every other dog. If you don’t train them to be loving and gentle and just let them run they are bound to be wild.
I am a pet sitter, and i have worked with all sorts of pitties… even had friends pits in my home with my cat, and baby… the worst thing that ever happened was the dog ate diapers. I have been attacked by a dog, and the temperaments of the breed certainly didnt dictate an attack… it was bad training, and maybe abuse as it was a retriever. These dogs were bad owners, and this happens all the time, they’re just getting stigmatized because they happened to be pits, when the problem is 💯 percent the OWNERS, every single time. Dogs who act like this havent been socialized… also these dogs weren’t properly secured, CLEARLY. If you think the dog is the problem, then you need to get humans off an alter they dont belong.
Portland Oregon has had several pit bull attacks lately.....one child died and a lady almost died losing part of her face & one arm had to be amputated.......pit bulls are dangerous and I'm tired of hearing..."its the way they're raised'" every breed can be under that umbrella but bully breeds, Rottweilers, Masstiffs are prone to aggressive behaviors in packs and are unpredictable. I have a friend that's owned a dog training/kennel and heads up the humane society for the county she lives in. She puts down all bully breeds if no owner comes. She said after 40 years of doing this she knows that these breeds are dangerous and unpredictable
This is why we have leash laws. If you cannot keep your dogs confined or on a leash and under your control, you are responsible if your dog is injured or killed.
There should be a national Pitbull and Rottweiler DNA registry. It should have all living pitbulls DNA on file to prevent anything like this. This way any unlicensed breeding can be traced back to owners. If you own a pitbull or Rottweiler you should be required to register their DNA with the government.

Though we learned there were many more that didn't report that had problems w/these dogs. The owner was told 1 more time & the city would get involved. There's something really wrong with pitbull owners. 🙁
Yeah, they chose pitbulls.
Stop being selfish
Stop buying dogs if you’re just trying to seem tough or cool or think people will think of you a certain way because you own some type of dog
Stop breeding if making money is one of the reasons you do it
Stop breeding and buying pit bulls as at-home pets unless you are an experienced dog owner, can catch predatory drift, have a good dog trainer, and you have the ability to keep your dog securely in your yard/home and can exercise it for 1+ hour of intense exercise every single day.

What a shame. Pit Bulls are naturally sweet and protective animals! Imagine what they must go through to turn them into Beast! Very Sad!
anyone else remember the story of the lady taking care of her son's pit bulls on Halloween??
“Humans get angry, dogs go mad! “.
This is why we have leash laws. If you cannot keep your dogs confined or on a leash and under your control, you are responsible if your dog is injured or killed.
It’s never the dogs fault, it’s always the owner.
Pits should be illegal.
If they aren't on their own property they are fair game if they are a threat.
There should be a national Pitbull and Rottweiler DNA registry. It should have all living pitbulls DNA on file to prevent anything like this. This way any unlicensed breeding can be traced back to owners. If you own a pitbull or Rottweiler you should be required to register their DNA with the government.
Where was this?? We were in Ogden bring my mother home from the ER (hospital) at night & 2 dogs that looked like pitbulls came after me & my spouse. We couldn't even get my mother out of the car. There is a 911 tape of it. Both me & my husband stood near each other & didn't know we were both talking to 911 the dogs were so viciously loud. They even went after a police officer. We were told later that they did nothing about it but made a report & told us we weren't the only 1 to report a problem. 1 other person reported. Though we learned there were many more that didn't report that had problems w/these dogs. The owner was told 1 more time & the city would get involved. Shortly after the dogs disappeared from his yard. We were wondering if some1 else took the dogs home. The police told my husband that we were in the right 2 shoot those dogs if we had a gun. Wonder if these were the same dogs????
They should ban pittbills in the USA, very dangerous dogs!
Any dog can be dangerous. I've known so many pitbulls that were just loving dogs, would never hurt anyone that wasn't trying to break in.
People are attacked by smaller dogs more often than larger ones.
@@mattburns2968yet 95% of children who are mauled to death by dogs...are killed by pitbulls and similar 'terrier' breeds. There's a reason insurers won't cover them even when half breeds because they're objectively far more dangerous.
@@xaviermccloud4586 Pitbulls cause more severe injuries and are the #1 dog breed that causes loss of human life. There is a reason most homeowner insurance policies exclude them as a pet, whereas if you have a German shepherd or golden retriever etc, you're more likely to still have coverage.
@@mattburns2968 That was my /s Yeah I agree. It's all about training them with love.
If your dog is contained on your property, it is not a danger or IN danger. Ownership comes with responsibility.
The only time I've ever been attacked by a pit has been them jumping on me to snuggle on a couch. All dogs start out as good dogs, just some get unlucky and have bad owners. Poor pups. I've bit by a golden retriever after I'd asked the owner, standing next to the dog, if I could say 'Hi' and they said 'sure, he's a sweet boy'. It's not the dogs.
This was 100% the OWNER'S responsibility. I and my brother have both owned pit bulls, mine was pit bull mix, my brother's had pure bred pit bulls. ALL of our dogs were friendly, because that's what they were trained to be, fully socialized, trained around kids.
The owners taught their pits to be menaces, either through direct training, neglect, or a combination of both.
I'm not trying to make light of the incident, and the two that shot the pit bulls did what they had to do, I'm not denying it. What I'm saying, is that they should DEFINITELY press charges against the owner, because he/she is responsible for what happened.
Just another example to hate pitbulls.
The victims did what had to be done.
Pittys are ok AS LONG AS YOU CONTAIN THEM!!
Pit Bulls should not be running around loose. What if it has been a child playing.
❤ I knew this pit bull stuff would lead to trouble. Why .would any body have a pit bull? Maybe just a juvenile thing. My dog is tougher than your dog.
They are incredibly sweet dogs when you treat them correctly. Just a little anxious and protective of the people they love. Unusual for them to attack when not protecting something.
Had a PB/ red lab mix . Smart dog .
I have a pitbull terrier that I found I'm the streets. He has never bitten anyone and has been around all types of people.
When I see one on a massive chain, it tells me the owner must have an unhealthy fear of being attacked by people.
80% of time they are losers trying to act tough, trying to convey the idea that they're tough like the dog, that's it. It's like people who buy lifted trucks.
Put your dog on a leash. Irresponsible idiocy.
Not all pitys are bad. It's the owners who r bad.
The pitti owners should absolutely be charged with neglect
My son sustained serious injuries as a result of an attack from a Japaneese Akita/English Mastif cross breed in the UK. All I had to protect him and myself was a vacum cleaner pipe. The pipe won.
