    Great work. I had family members working at "the Reliant" so great to see another one rescued

      That’s awesome! I believe it was a real fantastic place back in its day!

    The beauty of a separate chassis and a fibre glass body, a nice job well done, must have been satisfying doing the repairs properly, thank you for sharing.

      Yeh but not the easiest job separating the chassis and body on a SE5 scimitar. Glad it’s done now 🙂

    Thanks for posting this. Will be interested to see how you fabricate the tubular sections at the rear end. But it’s coming along well and I found it interesting.

    Thanks for this. I'd never seen a body off its GTE chassis before. Very interesting project👍

      They aren’t the easiest of bodies to remove compared to the smaller Reliant’s

    Your videos are great, if only the sound quality was better then the videos would be top class.

    How did you get such a perfect day for gas cover, not even the leafs are moving, lucky if we get 3 days a year like that down here in the Lincolnshire fens

    How long does it take to remove a Scimitar body plus disconnecting all the electric's etc?

    • @LewiBuchProductions
      @LewiBuchProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It took me a week roughly working in the evenings to get the body all un bolted, electrics and cables all unplugged, I got a list online that helps show everything you need to do to be able to remove a scimitar body

    "I'm going to cut off this rail and that rail"
    And what are you going to replace them with?
    Chinese steel.

    Tell you what lewi I'd love to see the body removal set-up. I've got a vague memory of my dad and brother doing that to a mini and dropping both the subframes and putting the body onto a trailer ahah think it was A-frames made from old scaffold 🤣
    What's the plan for it once you've done your work to it?

    • @LewiBuchProductions
      @LewiBuchProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think there’s a photo in the next video of the body removal 🙂, that about the same as I did 😂, well it’s actually sold now

    VERY handy to see it "live" as it were; tackling this myself shortly.
    What welder are you using? Gas/Flux core?

    • @LewiBuchProductions
      @LewiBuchProductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I used a flux coded gas less mig, but I’m planning on changing my set up to a gas mig soon 🙂

    • @dismalfist
      @dismalfist 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LewiBuchProductions Magic, thanks. Going to tackle myself with a gasless Clarke MIG and a Sip arc welder for anything heavy. Glad it's do able with gasless indeed. Top job also, hope it's going good!

      @@dismalfist no worries happy to help 🙂, the scimitars actually gone now, but there’s plenty now that’s replaced it!

    Nice job Lewi, will you be treating the entire chassis? Every time I see welding I miss my car lol. Nice MG in the background.

    • @LewiBuchProductions
      @LewiBuchProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just have it a coat of wax oil to preserve it 🙂, thanks! It’s actually waiting for welding too 😅

    is it easy to remove the shell? i’ve got one i need to remove the shell but not sure the procedure and if it’s hard

    • @LewiBuchProductions
      @LewiBuchProductions  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s not a bad job to do, worst bits lifting the body, just go over the shell from front to back and locate all the bolts and any wires holing it to the chassis, also remember the roll bar bolts under the car at the bottom of the B post

    • @wildfruits477
      @wildfruits477 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Never worked on 1 before worked on all other cars just not these, how long would u say it takes to remove everything to lift the shell@@LewiBuchProductions
