OMG, I couldn't be happier! My Dad had Scimitars as company cars back in the 70's (he was a Director of Reliant at the time) and I have a funny story to tell: So, my Mum and Dad were separated at the time but my Dad would come and spend time with us (me, my 3 younger brothers and our Mum). I passed my test in the mid 70's and shortly afterwards on one Saturday morning my Dad turned up in an Air Force Blue Scimitar 3L (SE5), which it turned out was previously used by Princess Anne and had then become one of the Press Cars for Reliant. It was in beautiful condition and freshly serviced and tuned. Because it was a company vehicle it had trade insurance so I thought why not ask if I could borrow it? Not expecting to be allowed I asked anyway .........and he said "Yes, just be back before tea time." I could not believe my luck!! So me and 3 of my mates spent the day hooning around the centre of Manchester laying rubber and trying to pull girls. Heaven. Always been a fan of them since. 😎
Been watching since the Gordon Murray escort and love everything you've done. But for me the fit and finish of late is on a different level. Churchill, the Escort twins , Alegros . The volume of projects too is testment to your skill knowledge and business sense. Congratulations to all the team. Cant wait to see churchill when its finished looks stunning already.
Out of any of the possible V6 options for the Scim I didn’t expect you to say a GAA. I remember seeing a video of (the) one online back in the Wild West days of the internet and it’s been in my head ever since. Can’t wait for this one!
Always loved scimitars, I believe Princess Anne once had one. The mods you propose to keep it 'faithfull' sound like it will be a it of a 'Triggers Broom' when it's finished. Looking forward to this build.
Question, or should I say request 😁 you mention/recommend a lot of companies in this series. I know it would be time consuming but it would be awesome and help a lot of people if you could put together some sort of directory on your site. It would also help support these great and often small businesses. Anyway, still loving the projects. I have been watching since the start and it's great seeing the business develop. Thanks for the Sunday evening entertainment!
The GAA was a pure racing engine famously used in the insane Cologne Capris. Ric Wood's done a fantastic job producing a road version and with that in mind I'd love to see a faithful Cologne Capri replica built for road use as a future project.
I worked for Cosworth in the 70s. That GAA was their Indianapolis engine. 2.6, I think, and 800 BHP plus in race trim. should make for an interesting Scimitar.
I`ve been looking forward to this since your post on Instagram. To see a Scimitar being brought into the 21st century will be really worth watching. I used to work for a garage that serviced, restored, broke and sold spare parts for in the early 90`s so I am conversant in the make up of these cars and their pitfalls. Just to sort out the leaky tailgate will be a major step forward.
Reliant Scimitar? Bugger, someone beat me to it! Ah well, that's another workday daydream shattered! Will be watching this one with great interest & can't wait to see how it develops!
The opportunity is there to widen the entire Scimitar body, so much classier than just adding dodgy wheel arch extensions disrupting the sleekness of the body sides.
Good idea like how Issigonis widened the Morris Minor 4” cutting it In half down the middle. The old GRP body is just a buck for the carbon body now so why not. Front and rear screens would need to be made as one offs but that’s doable eh.
There's not much UK built cars from the 70s I like but the Scimitar I too had a soft spot for. In a sea of motor-mediocrity the Scimitar stood out as a bit special. A favourite of Princess Anne - she had several I understand.
Back in the 80s knew a guy who fitted a V6 FIAT 130 coupe engine (2 valve version of the Ferrari Dino engine I believe) and transmission in one and a V6 PVR engine out of a Volvo in another.
I thought you'd peaked with the Allegros, but the Scimitar is something else! Always had a soft spot for these, but most that have been modified have been done so rather dubiously, so can't wait to see what you do, interior included.
Love the SCIMITAR GTE SE5, I learnt to drive in one (1977) was Inca Gold? which in reality was a very bright Triumph banana yellow. Very much looking forward to seeing this project unfold. I am nearly at the end of a Restomod of a TVR TAIMAR and also wanted a FORD connection, both Scimitar/Taimar originally having the Ford Essex V6. I went for the Porsche/Ford/Cosworth AJ30 V6 used by Jaguar. I did get stooped once or twice by the Police in Blackpool in the Scimitar, OK son take your dads car back (was in fact my older brothers and had a letter in the glove box for such occasions from the insurance company, I looked about 12). HRH The Princess Royal also enjoyed driving her Scimitar around rather enthusiastically and has had several Scimitars her first for her 20th Birthday always with her personal registration, 1420 H Colonel-in-Chief of the 14th/20th King’s Hussars. I really enjoy these videos, your work like the chaps doing my car is sublime and the attention to preparation and detail just incredible. Many do not appreciate the hours and care undertaken in such projects and one must go in with ones eyes open and not for the faint hearted but at the end of the day a car that is worth every penny, your videos reveal why.
Very enjoyable as always. A thought occurred re those symmetrical fluid containers on the Kumar Escorts - bit of a feature with you guys. If someone removes both caps at once to do a check and top up, they might get confused about which is which. Two solutions - engrave the icon onto the lid as well, or put a quality "Map/sketch" of the engine bay onto the underside of the bonnet for routinely accessed service stuff - dip stick, air filter etc
Blue Thunder Scimitar ran a GAA Cosworth back in the 90's sprinted at places like Goodwood sounded amazing. Helped run a GAA engined Gartrac Capri at Brands what a car . Look forward to seeing progress.
Can't wait to see all the progress on this one. GAA V6 is the dream engine build. Only dreamt of a build like this, great to see you guys doing it for real. Jealous but SO can't wait to see the Scimitar take shape.
Fantastic engine choice for the Scimitar - the GAA is one of the best sounding engines ever, at least on a race track. As per usual that's going to be a very interesting project, I don't think I've ever seen a modified Scimitar that looked good, so this may be a first!
A friend of mines dad had ond of these he rebuilt as a kid and i loved that car. Its one of my dream cars. I was offered one recently for 1000 pounds but just didnt have the money to rebuild it and didnt want it to just sit there so had to say no and i hope i regret it for the rest of my life. Looking forward to watch what you do with it. ❤
I bought a 1969 model around 1980, great car but nigglely issues with the Dif whining, the overdrive selenoid packing up, front trunnions failing an main issue of having to keep a lot of extra weight in the rear to keep it on the road when on country roads, look forward to seeing this build progress as I have always wanted to do an upgraded one I would also like to see an SE6 get the same treatment, I think the 6 & the GTC were better looking cars but still have fond memories of ownership.
I audibly said (to myself) "please dont be a LS, please dont be a LS" as you were talking about the Scimitar. GAA will be amazing, theyre a stunning bit of kit. Will it be going to EFI and drive by wire throttle to improve driveability or do they do a road spec version now?
You guys have almost completed my list of projects. Jensen CV8, Interceptor, Scimitar, E-Type, Jag 2 door saloon. There is only Gordon-Keeble left on my list of 'Simon's bizarre taste in cars', left.
Love the scimitar project can't wait to see its progress. Just a bit of info you may already know so I apologise in advance. But Jack Knight Gearboxes where asked to develope a gearbox to run behind the GAA v6 rated at 450bhp. I was fortunate to work on a special Saloon from the Wendy Wools series in the mid to late 70's and early 80's which was fitted with that very gearbox. It featured straight cut interchangable gear ratios and twin side by side layshafts , I guess this project will be a road car so the gearbox will probably be too noisy and too rare for parts. Love the work regards JON
The Scimitar project is very exciting. I once owned a GTC (the convertible). It’s a pity that Scimitar always just dropped in a standard Ford engine rather than uprating the power.
I love em, it'll be nice to see one which will be done properly. I've had my eye on one, I'd put an S type Jag in it. Less weight and 100 hp more. GAAs are nuts but the S type would be way cheaper.
Churchill is becoming more and more beautiful. Since I bought my 1979 Reliant Scimitar GTE SE6A in December 2023, Scimitars have been popping up everywhere. I'm curious what you are going to do with the windshield wiper mechanism, the wipers are never positioned nicely on the window, too high or too low for my liking. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Liking the 3D printed fuel clamps. I designed my own for the underside of my Imp as there was nothing suitable on the market, and welded small bosses into the tunnel to be tapped for an M4 thread. The finished items will be printed by an SLA printer.
For the Jensen air intake, could you do something like the Porsche 944S2 where the airbox was ahead of the rad and the body panel in front of the bonnet had to be removed to service the filter. You could improve on that design by accessing through the grill.
are you filming with a new camera / different setting ? things are looking different , very white and bright , some mild occasions of blurs ... unless its my eyes are different from last week .. love the videos and work
Funnily enough, I was thinking what I would ask you guys to do if I had a build slot (and the money), and my musings were between a Scimitar GTE and an SD1. Very different, but both are cool cars in their own right.
A V6 that's in keeping with the period of the car? Gotta be an Alfa 3.2/3.5 then! Can't beat that exhaust note, and if you chuck a nice set of ITBs on it to add some intake DORT to the sound the owner will be in aural orgasm mode every time they drive it. Plus as long as you build a good solid engine and get it tuned by someone who knows what they're doing, that's an easy streetable 350 flywheel horsepower, which should be more than enough to make a Scimitar get up and boogie!
How much weight do you save on carbon panels on a car like the Allegro? Or are there other reasons to go carbon? Are you worried abount corrosion by the mix of carbon and steel?
You have all the cars I always wanted! And some Allegros. Making your own hardline clips, eh? Project Binky territory. How do you stop the hardline from work hardening?
Lacquered Copper. It has been mentioned in earlier episodes. An interesting and somewhat bold choice. Sure it will look great. Edit. Maybe copper plated. Either way it will look like copper.

That's an awesome story!
That's a great story, thank you for sharing.
nice to hear Mark give us a tour of stunning Churchill
Yes it was nice, and he doesn’t waffle on and keep repeating himself hahaha
Been watching since the Gordon Murray escort and love everything you've done.

Churchill, the Escort twins , Alegros . The volume of projects too is testment to your skill knowledge and business sense.

The amount of technical detail you mention is absolutely marvellous,,,, there’s nobody else like you on TH-cam,,,, keep it up 👍👍
Marc did a great job......Great explanation.
Great to have the lads talking about what they have done on the car and what is still to be done.
Oh my, that Jean Claude Scan Dam comment made coffee come out of my nose! Another wonderful video of your epic work, thanks!
So bad it was good :) Worthy of an r/angryupvote
Churchill is the most astonishing testament to the skill of all concerned from concept to execution. I just can't wait to see the finished car.
GTE 5a - Excellent project, looking forward to this. 🔥
Churchill looks incredible, it’s hard to believe the change from the original!
Superb detailed presentation, Nat..................and all alone!...............
No matter how excited you are about the Scimitar, Nat, I bet I'm exciteder

Has one. Still owns it apparently
Check the story a few comments further up👍
What a great project..looking forward to this, love the scimitar!

Cosworth GAA? You beauty!
I can’t wait to see what Retropower can do to this!
Great job Nate, doing the whole episode by yourself, and remembering ALL the details for just about every car you touched upon, have another coffee :)
Amazing work can’t wait to see Churchill in paint

Always a good Sunday afternoon watching the Brits build badass cars
How do you both manage to switch the brain of when you get home from work?. Always something I struggle with. Keep up the amazing work. ❤
Great episode Nat. To take the stress out of trying to remember things, just make a list on a piece of paper. Simple.
I`ve been looking forward to this since your post on Instagram. To see a Scimitar being brought into the 21st century will be really worth watching. Luke Scan-Walker and the Light Scimitar? Essex Overdrive- 😊Love it!
By Zylan's power, all fastener corrosion has been wiped from the galaxy! By Zylan's eye's I'm glad to hear it! Praise Zylan!
Reliant Scimitar? Bugger, someone beat me to it! Ah well, that's another workday daydream shattered!

I’ve always confused the interceptor and the scimitar, nice to see them side by side

I have always I reckoned that the Simitar was a fantastic Base for a usable restromod, so this will be great to watch
It is an incredible privilege to follow along watching this level of professional building. It is inspirational as well as entertaining. Thanks again
Amazing! Grew up with one of these on the driveway. Fantastic car, went to France and Spain with me and my brother crammed in those tiny back seats!
Back in the 80s knew a guy who fitted a V6 FIAT 130 coupe engine (2 valve version of the Ferrari Dino engine I believe) and transmission in one and a V6 PVR engine out of a Volvo in another.
Nice engine choice!!! They were very nice units
wonderful sunday night relaxing telly👌

Absolutely insane tour! I forgot about the Scimitar! There was a green one on my road as a little kid, gorgeous throwback. Just subscribed.

Cosworth GAA is in my top 3 engines. The best sounding v6 ever made
Please keep a trailer hitch on the Scimitar! Looking forward to seeing how this project develops. Cheers, Paul.

Looking foward to follow the build of the Scimitar GTE with the GAA engine!!
That thing is going to be be awesome I reckon.

always loved the scimitar, I fancied a cossie boa or bob lump but the gaa i guess is the perfect choice. cant wait to watch its progress!
its a 5a you can tell by the plastic dashboard ,and the mini clubman door handles ,the earlier se5 had ford cortina door handles
The Scimitar project is very exciting. I once owned a GTC (the convertible). It’s a pity that Scimitar always just dropped in a standard Ford engine rather than uprating the power.
Wow Cosworth GAA. Now thats going to be fun.

Greetings from the Netherlands.
I learned today that RP uses advanced technology and techniques called CAD: Cardboard Aided Design in building its projects. 11:54
Do the planed chassis mods mean it will have to go for a Iva / sva test?
I know this scimitar and the family looking forward to this
Love the Scimitar 👌👍
Still think you should take on my First gen Multipla though !!👍
Next week please, George giving the low down on his especially high, levitating desk... 😂
53:25 - Best looking hatchback ever?
Liking the 3D printed fuel clamps. I designed my own for the underside of my Imp as there was nothing suitable on the market, and welded small bosses into the tunnel to be tapped for an M4 thread. The finished items will be printed by an SLA printer.

Any thoughts and or opinions on laser welding
are you filming with a new camera / different setting ? things are looking different , very white and bright , some mild occasions of blurs ... unless its my eyes are different from last week .. love the videos and work
Got my fingers crossed for some concealed rotating headlamps on that scimitar project :-D
Are you planning to extend the doors?
Cosworth GAA in a road car is going to be fierce. I had to look twice, my Dad had a Scimitar near identical to that one. Great stuff!
Encrusted with algae?
Ohhh a Scimitar!....Nice choice it'll keep my interest rather than the Escorts and BMW'S....👍👍
Where do you go to get custom glass made and how do they cut it ?
Funnily enough, I was thinking what I would ask you guys to do if I had a build slot (and the money), and my musings were between a Scimitar GTE and an SD1. Very different, but both are cool cars in their own right.
Scimitar needs a transaxle to get that lovely V6 right back and low
Looking forward to the parts your router will produce,Nat!
Buck for rear of E type?
Favourite car. Should be interesting
Love the scimitar but 70s British bespoke chassis will need a lot of carbon fettling. That rear three quarter is pretty big.
Hey Nat, Bobby would have been into that bonnet in a minute and a half with the new teeth. You wasted an hour and a half for nothing.
My lottery numbers didn't appear AGAIN! Will have to put off my call to Retropower for another week. Dammit
How much weight do you save on carbon panels on a car like the Allegro? Or are there other reasons to go carbon? Are you worried abount corrosion by the mix of carbon and steel?
Let Andretti race!
You have all the cars I always wanted! And some Allegros. Making your own hardline clips, eh? Project Binky territory. How do you stop the hardline from work hardening?
What is that standing desk situation that George is using. Is there build footage of this?
I had a laugh at that too! Quite a setup 🤣
If the air-filter box isn't going to be visible, a 3-D mould for the carbon-fibre part would save some steps.
Super please lots of detail on the scimitar, ta
Nothing is ever simple - not even on a big Interceptor..!
Love the Ford V6 Cosworth swap.... I would have gone for Mazda7 series 2,3 Turbo which in essence is the same motor as in the Mustang Ecoboost.....
Barsteds i was wanting to do the same thing with a 4B with Chevrolet Corvair head light and tail lights With a Group 5 spin
Could you do carbon fibre body mini not sure what engine but probably a series old school a bit lol lal just asking for myself 💜🙏💜
I love the Scimitars shooting brake style but I reckon it would also be a beautiful cabriolet, has anyone seen or converted one?
Let's have a comeback for the term "shooting brake" -- was the Scimitar the last one?
When mentioning a Reliant Scimitar, I thought everyone was supposed to add 'Princess Anne had one of those'.
Probably prince's ANN old car and having a LS 4 V8 and made all wheel drive so fox hunting is such fun.
and a really big sunroof so she can stand up and shoot peasants, sorry, pheasants
Imagine Nats wife asking him, “how was your day at work darling?” 😂
Churchill looks great, is that trim going be brass?
Bronze, I believe...
Lacquered Copper. It has been mentioned in earlier episodes. An interesting and somewhat bold choice. Sure it will look great. Edit. Maybe copper plated. Either way it will look like copper.
