You missed the opening part of this performance.; Blake and John singing the Sam and Dave song "Hold on, I'm Comin'". So this was a blend of the girls doing "Respect", and the boys doing "Hold on, I'm Comin'". That's why Blake's name is on it. Anytime we get to hear two of the best singers in the world---Kelly and Ariana---singing together it's a Total Treat! The best part of The Voice (IMO) is the Blind Auditions. Ariana is breathing new life into the show, and my guess is the ratings are very high. I wonder what they are paying her?? Thanks Jennifer! xoxo

@@victorbradshaw7359 Hey Victor. I did some research, and all I could find was somewhere between 20M and 25M. And certainly 22.5M is in that range. Thanks for sharing. I'm not a fan of different salaries for different coaches. It causes dissension that is completely unnecessary. Just pay them all the same.
I saw this performance on T.V and wow they all sound amazing. This season seems like a good one. Ariana is pretty funny in this show. 😀

As a Theatre performer you need to react to Voiceplay.
They are a phenomenal a Capella group. A great start would be their Little Mermaid melody.
And then i am sure the rabbit hole will grow. It did for me. Love your analysis to this great tribute to Aretha.

I didn’t agree with what you said toward the end. Lifting your chin up a little bit helps you to open up the throat a little more and bring up some of that chest voice quality/power. If you lift it too much, yes it can be a hindrance.

Blake and John started off the show singing 'Hold On, I'm Coming', then Kelly and Ari came in with RESPECT. So neither John nor Blake actually sang RESPECT.

Those type of songs are not high for them like ariana is a ligh lyrics soprano with a 5 ocatve vocals range and Kelly is also a soprano with like 4 or 3 octave range
What we are usually getting at the high end of the so-called 5-octave singers is basically a "whistle". So many people want to make a big deal out of the "range" of a singer (and I'm not saying that's what you are doing here), when the big deal is the "Tone"; that's what makes you "Feel" the lyrics of the song. And for me, no one has the rich, warm tone of Angelina Jordan, and she's probably a 3.5 octave singer, which is plenty for the songs she chooses to interpret. But lets be real, getting to hear a duet by two of the best singers in the world (Kelly and Ariana) is an enormous Treat!
Kelly is almost 5 octaves as well. I think her lowest note is E3 and her highest is C7.

Kelly Clarkson is the heavy hitter in this one. Ari strained to sing as hard and loud as she can to match Kelly but came nowhere close to Kelly's easy power. Kelly glides thru RESPECT as the Goddess she is. And the last note - with vibrato - is Kelly, not Ari.

Ariana wasn’t straining, she was using distortion. Maybe learn a bit about vocals before making false claims…
If you're gonna go compare for no reason, then so will I. Ari had no strain and sang the highest out of anyone in that performance. Her and Kelly both belted a G5, but Ariana was doing C6s in head voice.
Plz take music lessons before making false claims, ari is choosing to use distortion and her mixed voice more than her chest voice and kelly always sings in power. XD😘
