This is Van Halen at the beginning of their remarkable career. From their debut album in 1978, which has sold over 10 million copies in the U.S. alone. A personal favorite of mine. Thanks for this great review Empress! ✌️ - Red.
"Jamie's Cryin'" was the third single from Van Halen's 1978 debut album. I pretty much grew up on them. I was too young to go to the concert the first time they played my city, back when. So I gave ten bucks to my cousin who was older and had tickets to the show and asked him to buy a concert jersey for me and he did. It was a baseball t-shirt jersey, white with black sleeves down to the elbow and that VH symbol on the front. I wore that thing everywhere until I wore it out. When you're ready for more David Lee Roth era Van Halen, check out some of these tunes "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love", "Running with the Devil", "Dance the Night Away", "Atomic Punk", "Everybody Wants Some!!", "Unchained", "Mean Street", "I'll Wait", and "Panama" among many others.
After the lead singer David Lee Roth left the band for the first time, he went on to become and EMT in New York City. I always wondered what it would have been like to be a pedestrian who just got hit by a car on the streets of NYC and then when the ambulance pulled up, out jumped David Lee Roth the EMT!!!
RIP Eddie Van Halen. That was Van Halen's 1978 Debut Album. Which I Love!! Them Guys sure could Rock!!! You should Check Out their "Running With The Devil" Track From that Album. That's My Jam! 😎
Lead singer David Lee Roth was known for his over-the-top entertaining showmanship more so than his vocal abilities, but somehow his singing still got the job done in a big way. This was a huge hit back in '78 for the newly -minted Val Halen, with Eddie's incredible ax abilities portending the great things to come from this band, which to me will always be "Van Halen, not Van Hagar" (to quote David Spade in the film Joe Dirt).
Empress - we want to see your reaction to Mean Street by Van Halen! The Mighty Van Halen! You might want to see Edward Van Halen's guitar solo on: Van Halen - Live Without A Net Solo. You are seeing the greatest electric guitarist of all time although he's subdued in this great song. And yes, Diamond David Lee Roth is the greatest front man that ever lived!!
This band has an extensive catalog of hits and legendary rock tunes. Careful, you might uncontrollably get the urge to do a lot of VH. Good luck trying to hold yourself back. 🎸
If this song sounds familiar to you it could be because it was sampled in Wild Thing by Tone Loc. Or...you might have no idea who that is either, lol. David Lee Roth's nickname was Diamond Dave. Being a showman was definitely his gift. Have you reacted to Eddie Van Halen Eruption solo, live without a net version yet? It took a talent the likes of EVH to not be overpowered by DLR. He was the definition of extra before that term existed. Please react to that!

When he jumps off the stage and does full splits in that one video is a black belt in karate

Great reaction. Time to see them live. Do Unchained. Greatest live band ever.

A time when artist WROTE music...not use samples
1980s stripper music at its best. Also I'm not sure if David Lee Roth is a flamboyant straight guy like the lead singer in Depeche Mode, or...
