One major difference between the rebar and ST300 that a lot of people never mention that is pretty significant, is that the Rebar has a small spring loaded mechanism in the handle towards the pliers that slightly pulls the tool shut and helps it stay shut until you need it, personally it has a better more satisfying feel when closing than the "loose" ST300. (Seen at around 15:44-15:49).
I got the same deal. How good are they! Love the aesthetic similarities, too. Rebar is solid. Great for workplaces as its not as 'knifey' as the wave, wingman, charge etc. More sheeple friendly :)
I agree, amazing tool, super smooth too! and the Micra fits on my keychain perfectly, I still have my dedicated knife for work (today it was a meyerco shockwave) but this always sits in the sheath on my offside and it's invaluable
Seen your review and decided to get it. Have several types of MT. Fuse, wingman and SOG switch pliers 2.0, and generic types. Its on me all the time now. Use it alot for Bushcraft and being outdoors. Thanks for video
Me too: I chose both. Blast for EDC and Rebar in the every day tool kit. For back-packing, Blast is lighter weight than Rebar (and "every ounce counts!"). Also, Blast sports a mini-driver for hiker's eye-wear repair. Still love'm both! Great Review. Ty.
The triangular replaceable cutter blades are the best idea yet. This gives you two sharp cutter blade edges in reserve. I would like Leatherman to adopt this design.
I have an addiction for leatherman multi tools i have over 20 of them. Just picked up the Rebar after watching this video. This is a great tool to have and use everyday. Late Boy Scout i love ur vids but everytime i watch them i end up spending money on a different Leatherman. Stop it. Lol. Love ur vids and reviews ur opinions are the only one i trust on here before i buy a new multi tool i count on ur opinion and reviews. So keep up the good work and God bless you.
I bought the Supertool 300 and I love the tool but be warned the Velcro lasted about 8 months before it could no longer hold the top flap closed. Now a strong wind can blow it open. I replaced it with a Maxpedition single sheath and have not had the same problem.
Great review as usual. I love the look of the black oxide tools but just can't use them in summers down here in Texas...set them down in the sun for just a momemt and they get too hot to handle. The stainless just take a little longer to get that hot.
11 year old video; wow I thought the Rebar was a recent model. I just picked up a Rebar (stamped B02 inside) two days ago and to me it is a remake of the discontinued Super Tool 200 I carried for over a decade; the ST 300 actually being a beefier version of the ST 200. They are addicting as I own a PST, a Super Tool, 2 Super Tool 300, several Waves (both regular and +), Charge, Surge. lol The only one I sold was a Charge Ti with crimper pliers.
The Stainless Steel Rebar also slips in and out of a jean pocket like butter. It is also small enough and contoured enough to not dig in to your leg at all, even when crouching down or kneeling . It's also smooth enough to move it up and out of your pocket with one hand. After a bit of use it is very easy one hand open for the plier function. Not everyone wears a sheath. One of my favorites 👍
Great review! You're my go-to channel whenever I want to buy a new MT -and I have an embarrassingly large collection of it-. Funny thing: All the blackened MTs comes with nylon pouches with velcro closure. Leatherman should acknowledge the fact that black MTs buyers generally have a need for stealthiness. Soundwise, the velcro might be the loudest closure system in the world. So your sound discipline in the field gets ruined very fact. Why don't they make a silent one like on the british or german mag pouches? Come on Leatherman, work on your sheaths!
My rebar, which is the stainless, came with a nylon sheath. It wasn't like the one in this video, it looked like a gerber sheath with vertical and horizontal loops. It still had the "leatherman" logos on it, but it wasn't either of those. Do you think that might just be a new feature?
Nice review! It got me thinking though, Can you fit a Wave in the black leather sheath of the Rebar? I find the leather sheaths for the Wave are too bulky, I would much prefer the simple design and size of the Rebar leather sheath.
rebar and a micra for $42 would you recommend taking that deal? I don't have a multitool and never really have except when i bought my dad a sideclip (discontinued) for $20 from a pawnshop that already had his name engraved on it and I loved that one
I just got a Surge, and despite the weight, I am selling my Wave as I feel the Surge supplants it as my mobile tool kit. I also have a new bit kit coming for it, too, like I have (and I’m including) with my Wave. As for the Rebar, it really is a good light to medium duty tool, but it won’t replace the Super Tool, and if I got it, I would put it in my hiking bag and use it outdoors. It is also for this same reason why I bought the Surge, was for the replaceable saw/file.
doesn't the replaceable wire cutters weaken the plier head? Not only they have material removed to put the cutters in but also they have drilled holes to keep the cutters in place.
sapphiro I saw a video testing the pliers strength, the guy used a clamp to cut some nails with the with the rebar and the pins broke before the pliers head broke. I don't think the replaceable cutters makes it any weaker.
Brian Byrne - When my Rebar was new, one handle is very stiff. I did the usual stuff, hot water and oil. That worked a little but not much. So I took two pliers to each side of the handle and pulled them open ever so gently. That helped a lot.
I've watched alot of reviews on MT's and everyone suggests the smaller ones for outdoor use. I would think that the bigger the MT would be the ideal choice for outdoor use because it has more tools and some features might have better use than on a small MT but everyone's complaint is weight. I'm getting a surge here soon and I was looking for the beefiest MT just because that one time I might need a good tool on me that could change my whole day and I want to know that I won't have any problem handling a tough task.
Grim214 I guess the logic is that your multitool is not your first option. You have a dedicated knife and saw in your pack.. The multitool is a backup with a few extras. Something you carry on your belt and don't have to dig out of your pack.
The problem with these new leather sheaths is the exposed metal from the rivets on the inside has a tendency to scratch the tool. That may be the reason why the BO versions do not come with leather sheaths. Unlike you, I totally dislike the BO versions, as they look so tatty when scratched and the finish is so poor out of the box.
@@freddiefingers1186 that is great love Texas. A couple smaller cities near me have no limit on blade length but the bigger cities do. If you have a reason for recreation or work it is legal but not just to EDC. Outside my country my state California has no limits on blade length on open carry.
barsason1 1. Get the wave for belt pouch carry. Or. 2. Get the ps4 for light/keychain carry. Or 3. Get the wingman for cheap and great EDC multitool. Or 4. Style ps (pliers for the main tool scissors moved where the blade was on the cs) for a tsa/travel friendly multitool. Or 5. Style cs (scissors for the main tool and a small blade) for a personal grooming tool.
I enjoyed the video. What if you ALWAYS have the knife carry covered? So I could really care less if my multi-tool had a knife because it won't ever be used, just being honest. Is there a good tool on the market that excludes a knife but on the other hand either includes another tool all together or another "bigger tool"? I would love a good Leatherman, I'd just hate to have my tool include a knife...... just because. Hopefully you understand what I am saying. TIA hopefully for answering my inquiry.👍
Nice review! Just picked up a Rebar for Christmas. My favorite tool so far is the SuperTool 300, so I'm sure this one is gonna be just as great . One thing that I've noticed is the greater comfort with the classic style body over the readily accessible tool bodies like you get with the Wave, Surge, etc. During hard use, all of those tool edges tend to wear on the hand. I'm subbing, and if you get a chance, check my channel out. I'LL be doing some multi tool videos very soon!

My blasts flatheads snapped off just called leather man and they said they would send me a rebar :D

Thanks for watching.
Thanks for video. The file is good for magnesium blocks on ferro rod fire starter. Plus the wire stripper looks like it would work good.
Ty.
I love the rebar! Lost it years ago, but just figured out what model it was and going to get another one!!
The triangular replaceable cutter blades are the best idea yet. This gives you two sharp cutter blade edges in reserve. I would like Leatherman to adopt this design.
This review was one of the factors that made me purchase the rebar! Good review! I use my rebar more than my wave now. :)
Sweet I figured as much so I pulled the trigger on em earlier. Thanks for all your vids really appreciate your sense of humor too
I don't know how anybody leaves the house without a Leatherman strapped to his belt.
I pack in with the Rebar because of the awl. But I love my Blast, too. It may be my favorite, actually.
Thanks for the MT fix. I needed it.
I got a ReBar and it's damn awesome anyone who is looking a rather cheap but a good multytool this is the thing for you

My only complaint with the Rebar/Supertool 300 is the lack of scissors. For the Molle sheath just skip the first loop and it becomes a belt loop.
That nylon sheath comes with the gift set, which I got, which had a micra too!
The serrated knife blade is good for slicing bread
I bought the Supertool 300 and I love the tool but be warned the Velcro lasted about 8 months before it could no longer hold the top flap closed. Now a strong wind can blow it open. I replaced it with a Maxpedition single sheath and have not had the same problem.
Now 2017 sir...
What happen with rebar, this tools have play side the side or not??? Please answer
merry christmas to me i got that shit
The Charge and the Rebar are the two tools that Tim Leatherman switches back and forth between in his daily life.
Really I did not know that 🤙 both of them really good tools
No he doesnt

just saw two of these on Ebay for 29 dollars each they sold within the night. luckly i found one used for 32 that i did buy for my 72hr bag.
+Brandon Eme What's a 72 hour bag?
its a disaster survival kit meant to last you 72 hours depending on what you decide to prepare for.
Howard Boyer its a survival kit that is made for 3 days or 72 hours. Hope this helps! :)

Is the rebar as good as the pulse?
Which would you prefer?
Black is nice, but if I’m using it outdoors maybe in the dark the color might make it harder to find. Mine came with the not leather sheath.

Does the pliers' grip dig in the hand when grab hard, does it hurt?
Blizzbee R.- No it doesn’t. The handles are rounded over. Very decent as far as multi tools go. 👍

pichnoufblues might Wana cut through some fence and the enemy hear your stupid velcro. Rrrriiiipppppp
Love the MOLLE sheath. I haven't see those, but like nylon better in general. Mostly because it retains less moisture.

Yes I bought a Rebar because its look. But the more I put it to use, the more I prefer it to a Wave. Rebar feels more agile in every tools.
i just picked one of these up at academy, this is the only leatherman, and they only had one!!!!
Nice, might pick it up
i have an older supertool and i like the saw on it, (it's like the rebar)
rebar and a micra for $42 would you recommend taking that deal? I don't have a multitool and never really have except when i bought my dad a sideclip (discontinued) for $20 from a pawnshop that already had his name engraved on it and I loved that one
Only recently subscribed but already loving the LM reviews.
Proud owner of one. got it yesterday :D
Excellent review. I like multi-tools too. Ken

I’m having LTSA right now. That is Leatherman Tool Separation Anxiety, as Im in the hospital and can’t have one with me.
I just got one for 20 bucks
Very good review, leatherman should send you some free stuff. I just ordered the REBAR after your review. Thank you.
doesn't the replaceable wire cutters weaken the plier head?
Not only they have material removed to put the cutters in but also they have drilled holes to keep the cutters in place.
sapphiro I saw a video testing the pliers strength, the guy used a clamp to cut some nails with the with the rebar and the pins broke before the pliers head broke. I don't think the replaceable cutters makes it any weaker.
I'm pretty sure the rebar will be the next multitool I get,and it will be in black oxide.Great video.
Up and down blade play common with these?
Hey which of the larger multi tools from leatherman would you suggest I buy for under $100?
Just got the black Rebar and it is STIFF AS HELL. Does the stainless operate more smoothly?
Brian Byrne - When my Rebar was new, one handle is very stiff. I did the usual stuff, hot water and oil. That worked a little but not much. So I took two pliers to each side of the handle and pulled them open ever so gently. That helped a lot.
When will you be getting the new Leatherman OHT?
Which saw is better the rebar or wave
Great review, very well done.
Great review buddy, i am going two get the rebar.......

I love the black oxide version. Am I the only person still carrying around the original Leatherman PST????
Just got lucky and got the rebar at Walmart for $10.
Great review. Thanks.
does the rebar saw cut better than a victorinox saw? and does the awl?
prefer the victornox. and awl on the victorinox is just plain supiorer.
Awesome review man. I appreciate it.
Great review! I love leatherman tools
The other pertinent question is, are there any Leatherman tools made that you don't own?
The problem with these new leather sheaths is the exposed metal from the rivets on the inside has a tendency to scratch the tool. That may be the reason why the BO versions do not come with leather sheaths. Unlike you, I totally dislike the BO versions, as they look so tatty when scratched and the finish is so poor out of the box.
Are they all yours. Bought by you ?
The Rebar I got as a T&E. The rest I bought.
The Supertool 300 exist in SS and BO in non EOD
“I’m sick and addicted to multitools”. Yep
Rebar.thats it
how much dos it costs
what do you think about the charge TTi compared to the wave?
I thought it was going to be some full-size one like Wave or MUT! Thanks for your reply! :)
I like a blade 3 inch or less for City ordince laws
In Texas we can carry katanas if we please.😄
@@freddiefingers1186 that is great love Texas. A couple smaller cities near me have no limit on blade length but the bigger cities do. If you have a reason for recreation or work it is legal but not just to EDC. Outside my country my state California has no limits on blade length on open carry.
It's a cap crimper on the eod tools. Not wire.
should i get this or wingman or squirt ps4 or style ps or wave?
AROTTWEILERR why?
barsason1 1. Get the wave for belt pouch carry. Or. 2. Get the ps4 for light/keychain carry. Or 3. Get the wingman for cheap and great EDC multitool. Or 4. I wish they made the Rebar with scissors instead of the serrated blade.
You should have a contest that doesn't require FB or Twitter. :-(

MrPocketfullOfSteel they make a knife less rebar with scissors instead
Ha, you have got it bad, my friend.
I just must ask. What's your favorite mutli-tool you own?
Wave plus it's much better then rebar 👍
My Name is RiderOnTheStorm and I'm a Multi-toolaholic.
I had a rebar as my first leatherman and it got stolen
