    Definitely I'm going to try this receipe now.. just now I made crispy bonda and green chutney came out very well. Just one doubt Patti mustard seed powder... do we need to roast dry have make a powder or ?... since am beginner that why this question

      No need to roast raw mustard to be powdered and added

      If possible get it from a good shop because kadugu is difficult to grind and might overload your mixie. If not possible grind it slowly with little quantities

    Avakaya is actually best used with mudda pappu. Sudana sadattile mudda pappu kalandite adu mela neyya pottitu avakaya serndalum sorgam thane.
    I dont know tamil well still learning please try this.

    My MIL only said.
    100 kai avakkai
    100 kai magai
    Kanja manga vendhyam potu
    100 kai mentji kai
    50 kai bellam avakai
    25 pesara avakai
    Remaining all kotta ille not cut properly will be made as ghatu avakai
    (Soak chillies kadugu vendhyam in hot water grind them put nala yennai and will be used for 10days)
    Ithanayum yeppidi fridge vekka
    We are godavari district tuni from andhra.

    Pati I am from Andhra, I am surprised to watch. My grandmother used to prepare Avakkai with same measurements, but she use make large quantity. I am happy to watch because I could see my grand mother in you. Thanks pati for taking me to olden days. Love you pati ❤️

    paati, tried the avakka recipe. I changed a little bit. added my mother's recipe in between. Methi powder instead of seeds..../. came out very well.

    Mix some fennel (crushed), it will give a nice aroma and pickle can be stored out of fridge for more than two years easily. I wish we could have transcription of the song.

      Dhanya she said to use castor oil in that recipe but we always use mustard oil ..is it OK to make it with mustard oil ?

      If u r used to mustard oil u can use. But important thing is reduce mustard powder to half or even slightly less as u r using mustard oil

      @@panchagnin please listen to SPBs singing of the same song and shravans.. You will find the difference. When shravan can sing so well.why should he lip sink with spbs song.. Both their voices are distinctly different..

    I luv your recipes and the way you explain paati. Avakkai is my favorite pickle too. Especially avakaai rice mixed in gingely oil and to have it with roasted applam....wow its such a comforting food. I enjoy it.

    Visually, one cup of mustard seed powder shown in the presentation, looks more in quantity than the one cup of red chilli powder??

      Same quantity. Since we have only 2 cups like the chilli powder cup, we measured the same quantity of mustard powder and put it in another cup

    When garlic is used, it is preferable to put 50% of it after slightly crushing with a stone or roti roller. Rest to be used as such without crushing
    So also , mustard has to be kept in sun for a while to warm it before grinding in a mixie.
