Hello doctor. I am so glad I found you and your videos. I had an ischemic stroke in my basal ganglia 2 years ago at the age of 42. I am left side affected. I am watching your videos to learn more to help me progress and do different exercises. I feel so close to walking 'normal' yet feel so far. My left arm and fingers are moving but I am still so weak. I move my arm leading with my shoulder. And have to left or reach with Assistance of my right arm. I used to be able to grab and hold better then had botox and feel I have regressed. Should I see a neuro therapist so they can really listen to me and give me a focused program. I don't know which videos to start with.
Dr. Tobias, I have both MS and scoliosis. I struggle with my torso bending towards the right when seated. I exercise regularly to maintain strength but this is a constant battle. Thanks for your time and offering your help.
I do also like this, with my therapist to regain my hip movement. He hold me on my not affected side, and he let me do this balance training twice in a week and my son or my wife help me also during the other days.
Well this video is almost exactly my problem. I'm sending the link to my p/t! Great job! I watched your video again, edited to add: BUT, in my case I rotate away from the involved side. However, I believe it is the same issue, underdeveloped hip muscles.
Very good explanation, I noticed that I walk relatively well until the hip lifter fatigue, after that the hip starts to deteriorate and as a reaction the abnormal synergism of the extensor starts and increases and the gait becomes harder and more irregular. Thanks for the good advice.
I’ve developed a step-to walking pattern, which means I walk extremely slow, what exercises can I do to break this pattern and develop a more normal gait
🌸💛🌸 Thank you Dr. Tara for this super video again. Yes the leaning to the healthy side is an issue, for me as I tend to search for security on that side. I practice straight posture with - your standing exercise, then slow motion walking 5 steps forward, 5 steps backward, repeat - before a mirror and with lots of furniture around. In the beginning this was wobbly and dangerous. In the meantime, after a year, it's safe and improves from month to month. Sending lots of greetings to Orlando 🌸💛🌸

Hi Myrna! Thanks for sharing this. Let me give it some thought. When I address this in a video, I will be sure to include "penguin walk" in the title. I can totally visualize it. Great descriptive word!!
Can you please adjust your terminology because I still have trouble following your explanations because I don't know which sides you're referring to when you use "involved and uninvolved" sides . Maybe say the affected or injured side so I can follow easier? I'm sorry my cognition is so bad from midline shift from a CVST craniotomy and stroke. My left side is my weak side but my "affected" brain area was my right frontotemporal parietal. Thank you for these videos. They are great!
Thanks for the feedback! The correct terminology is the terminology I am using. You leg and arm are NOT injured. I promise I give this suggestion with nothing but kindness in hopes that you might take this suggestion to heart. I appreciate you watching and I am cheering you on! Have a great night!

It would really be helpful if you started conditioning yourself to say involved or affected. I promise I give this suggestion with nothing but kindness in hopes that you might take this suggestion to heart. I appreciate you watching and I am cheering you on! Have a great night!

@@rehabhqofficial I have lymphedema in one leg and that is what I do, I bend to the side, trying not to put effort on the affected leg.
