I completed my project in just 4 days, and I got selected. However, even if I didn't get selected, I still learned a lot about how testing works. I learned what functionalities and values should be tested in a project, and how to write test cases in Playwright and Vitest. It's never a waste of time to learn new things and grow. Getting an internship or job is just a byproduct of your hard work and learning.

It's a no brainer to say ki mera time waste ho gya agar tumhara time keemti hota to tumhara most probably selection ho gya hota nhi to kuchh seekhne ko milta. During the time when I was doing assignment, I got to know about Testing I learnt testing via Jest and Vitest. Most probably mera isiliye nhi ho paaya kyuki bhaiya me bola tha ki first come first serve hai to mene starting ke 3rd day hi submit kar diya tha. Aur me Testing me Mostly plain node js use kar rha tha. Kyuki Me Testing me naya tha to bhar bhar ke errors aa rhe the 😂 aur time constraints ko dhyaan rakhte huye maine Nodejs hi use kar diya testing me 😂😂. Aur mene Project bhi Beginners waala choose kar liya.. I also got to know ki ye interactive labs kaise kaam karte hai.
back in final sem hunting for an offcampus job me and my friend did 2 to 3 ( 1 week long ) assignments most of them fullstack and easily 2k/3k loc (full of learning for sure) but it was a huge risk as the roi for applying to more jobs was higher. Now we both are working full time and absolutely hate the idea of any assignment taking more than a day worth of time (max a single weeknd, so around 18 hours). i'll rather drink the dsa poison than try any assignment taking more than 20 hours. SWE process is all over the place, sometimes you get hired from a tweet and sometimes you have to give 3 month long 6 / 7 rounds of interviews and still get trolled at the team matching stage.
I got to know about the internship opportunity from your "job saturation" video. i was already late and submitted the project in 1-2 days. project was good (comparing with the winners). all tests worked in my side. probably failed the instructions part. But i did learn how to test. it was my first time testing. thank your for the opportunity and will there be anymore opportunities in future?? like in few months??
The problem isn't just that you may not even get interviews, the problem is you won't even get feedback. If you expect someone to give days for an assignment, then the least they can expect is the company spends 2 mins to write feedback/ review so that they can learn. People might give their best and not get selected but still not know the reason why and thus can't really improve themselves! Code reviews mean something! Also when you are giving assignments to 100+ people and at the end will select 1 it makes no sense. Assignments should be given to limited people whom the company considers real prospects, and have already gone through some steps of shortlisting. Lastly, if the guy has completed the assignment, then he deserves a feedback so that at least it's worth in terms of learning for them!

When I was in my biggner phase in programming and I get a bug which is very small but took a long time to debug, then I thought that I wasted my time on fixing this small bug, but as I grow up (4.5 years btw) I started thinking that its ok ki mera time lga uutna but I learned something from that small bug, like how can I debug more major bugs easily in future.
