The Karate Kid is a 1984 American martial arts drama film written by Robert Mark Kamen and directed by John G. Avildsen. It is the first installment in the Karate Kid franchise, and stars Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, Elisabeth Shue and William Zabka. The Karate Kid follows Daniel LaRusso (Macchio), a teenager taught karate by Mr. Miyagi (Morita) to help defend himself and compete in a tournament against his bullies, one of whom is Johnny Lawrence (Zabka), the ex-boyfriend of his love interest Ali Mills (Shue).
Kamen was approached by Columbia Pictures to compose a film similar to Avildsen's previous success Rocky (1976), after signing the director. Kamen drew inspiration from his own life when writing the film. As a result, he maintained strong opinions regarding cast, and petitioned heavily for Morita's inclusion. Preparations for the film began immediately after the final edit of the script was complete, and casting took place between April and June 1983. Principal photography began on October 31, 1983, in Los Angeles, and completed by December 16, 1983. The film was Macchio's second major film role following The Outsiders (1983).
The Karate Kid was theatrically released in the United States on June 22, 1984. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics, many of whom praised the action sequences, writing, themes, performances, and music. The film was also a commercial success, grossing over $130 million worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing films of 1984 and Hollywood's biggest sleeper hit of the year. The film revitalized the acting career of Morita, who was previously known mostly for comedic roles, and earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. The film subsequently launched a media franchise and is credited for popularizing karate in the United States.

Tori turns out to be a kid that study martial arts from a far she saw kids training when she was young and she used to practice those skills by her self self taught because she was being bullied but then they can bring in another antagonist to play her bully, returning to her Pass kind of like karate kid two her origin still remains a mystery and kind of goes with the cliffhanger at the end of the series when she is about to tell you who her dad is she knows
I hate people that claim teasers and do not deliver.

@@Osxvwell Jaden Smith's character is not Daniel Larusso and Jackie Chan's character is not Mr Miyagi so it's not a remake because like When Johnny Depp played Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory after Gene Wilder was the character in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Diana Ross played Dorothy in The Wiz after Judy Garland played the character in The Wizard Of Oz and so many other people who played the same characters from the classics But the 2010 Remake of Karate Kid was not really a remake it was similar to the original but the characters had different names locations and style

They should let Devon and Kenny be the winners of the final karate kid series, and somehow connect her story into running into Mike Barnes and kind of go into the origin story of how and who taught Mike Barnes martial arts, since they still want to be cobra Kai, but Mike Barnes can be like I’m cobra Kai but I’m not teaching it and I don’t have dojo‘s and I know those people that taught you and I will teach you if you need me to be some situation that he can get into to get a tournament to get money since he doesn’t have nothing and then find a way to survive and they probably talk him into taking over the cobra Kai dojo as the new leader since Devon kind of has a hate for the girl that’s leading it now the original daughter granddaughter
I think and thought that there was going to be but also staying true of course to the original and can add new actors but with all the old franchise and just like the first movie with Jackie chan's awesome acting that they still give it there all as if they live and breathe as the people in the movie I say this because people change and well as I am a fan of Jaden will smiths son I am hoping he can and will put his heart in to this movie so they can bring in and also for the fans as much as the first movie thank you!!!

There should also be a final rematch between Johnny and Daniel but this will be them seeing who is the best. I think Daniel will end up getting the edge and Johnny not doing karate anymore and going with his family, but making surprise appearances at Daniels dojo even though the match was one by Daniel. Johnny actually had the best stuff him and Daniel knows it but somehow manage his spot to find a way to win, even when he’s out match so his audience knows that he is the clear winner, but Daniel knows that Johnny is better than him

Daniel’s karate is a joke. Ralph is awful at trying to perform it. Not once believable as a black belt. Johnnie/ William is way better.

The story was Julie will be she was at her job and something reminded her to pay respects to me Augie, so she went to pay respects to his grave. That’s where she runs into Daniel. They have a brief talk, but he doesn’t tell her that he was a student and she doesn’t tell him that she was with a student but later on Daniel learns from, one of his Japanese ex-girlfriend and she still has the skill, but something draws her back to learning more learning, martial arts
I am sure when Miyagi passed away Julie was at his funeral. In the next karate kid..Miyagi even told Julie he had trained a past student other than her father..So I am pretty sure Julie and Damiel met at the funeral and are very aware of each other already...
That and there is the total possibility Julue Pierce will be in Cobra Kai season 6..
@@Xtreme1973 juile and daniel never met nor know they were taught by the same teacher but devon and sam know and introduce them juile teach devon karate juile is a a fashion designer for her sister pagent and she see her paractincing moves one day and shows her a little somthing something they becomes friends and devon and decides to teach her how sam get into it the 2 fight and sam notices how good she got recently and was curious about her style and investigates because tori was training with her and all of a sudden she is trainig with silver but nobody knows silver is out of jail and free except tori

Tells Julie that he has had another student a young man that has gone to college...When Mr. Miyagi passed away and they did a funeral for him..Which I would pretty much assume Daniel had that all arranged for his best friend...Julie having a connection with Mr.Miyagi had been told of Julie I would for sure assume by then and have gone to Mr.Miyagi's funeral.. It would be cool if they bring her in for season 6..However I am content to wait and see what happens if they do or not...
@@Xtreme1973 yeah Daniel did not know of her and probably she did not come to funeral but heard he had died she know of the student but do not know who the student is . there could be something where she decided to pay respect to his grave and that can also be the place where she meets Sam and learns about daniel but sam does not tell her dad she meet miigyi other student but learn secretly from her but later finds out she is teaching Devon before the tournament
@eliermaxwell5910 No idea how Daniel would not know of Julie if Mr. Miyagi was his best friend and Mr.Miyagi was being called grandpa and referring to Sam as Daniel's kids as their grandpa.
It is one thing for Mr. Miyagi to keep the death strikes secret from Daniel out of worry that he would not be responsible enough to not use them in a common fight..But to not mention Julie after Daniel returned from college I doubt highly that Mr. MIYAGI would not have mentioned her to Daniel..As I would also assume that Mr. MIYAGI MOST I am sure left something for Julie in his will since her father from the war was also his best friend...

The remake was good but should have been called The Kung Fu kid. Surprised Jackie Chan was happy with it not having that title. I get they wanted it to have same story as karate kid with a new spin but just didn't make sense.

If there is a new Jaden Smith Karate Kid movie, I just hope there is a tie in with Okinawa, explaining how what he is learning is related to Okinawan Karate and not just another Kung-Fu. The movie took place in China, and they really messed that up in the first one. There needs to be back story to tie this all together so it doesn't continue to be so dissonant.

Asked for a chosen and all those other Japanese people that were involved in Daniel‘s life Daniel has a quest to understand the hidden secret Miyagi scrolls and chosen starts to show him, but that will be kind of towards the end as a cliffhanger to continue the karate kid dynasty Daniel‘s ex girlfriend from Japan has some more mysteries that he didn’t know about Miyagi and his pass and shares it with him which leads him on the quest for the other Miyagi scrolls and old teachings that he didn’t or was for bidden to learn which leads him to one military guy and then find out his daughter. Julie was on a Miyagi students which was the same girl that he saw at Miyagi‘s grave over me, but he didn’t have time to talk to her something came up and then she went away
