make sure you have quick record mode set to ON before trying this or it won't record by clicking rec3. Setting is found in System>Personalize>"Record Quick Mode"
Fast way to listen to recorded saved sample when done on master track 8, is go to a new bank. Then for exemple go bank 2 pattern one and listen to it. As each new bank use a new parts set. So you don’t have to mess up you other layout. Going to a new bank is also a good place to do extra mangling/processing on that sample, is in new bank, then bring it back in your original bank to use in that arrangement.
@@wiliwowmusic1625 I came here to ask about that - how to achieve this on a mk1. I'm very early into the Elektron experience and still finding the workflow opaque and counter intuitive, but the more I watch others using the OT the more familiar I'm becoming with the layout and functionality, so I'll crack this thing eventually. Maybe I'll have to break the habit of a lifetime and RTFM! :D
@@TimJacksonOriginal same principle on MKI. I can't see the difference for now. I just precised SRC3 recording is MIDI button for MKI. Maybe on MKII it would be easier to use T1 and REC3...
Love this. One thing to definitely watch out for when recording using fades FIN and FOUT - this will get rid of the first transient when recording drum loops. Even on the smallest setting you can hear the difference it makes at 4:55 in this video. The resampled version loses attack on the first transient
This is great stuff and very helpful. I did get stuck for a little because I'm on a MK1 (thus, no Rec 3 button). You can still get there, but you need to cross reference a few other keystrokes (which are in the Oct manual). Thanks again. Great stuff!
Loving the CUE tip for bussing together tracks for resampling. This reminded me of something I was reading in the manual the other night - you can send either pair of stereo inputs to the CUE bus with [CUE] and the [REC1/2] keys. I have no current use for this feature but in combo with the audio tracks this could make for very flexible resampling.
Digg it! You mention using a compressor 0:42 in your studio, what kind of unit do you use when performing live? Mixer with built-in comp. or separate unit?
when you say you have to "cue up" 6'43'' is there a way to see the track is "cued up" on track status screen? i just see a little dot next the bpm when i Cue+track but after nothing really tells me the track is Cue or not isn't it?
Hey thanks for the video! When resampling like this from either the master out or the cue out will the effects on the master track be resampled? Is there a way to resample tracks without the master (track 8) effects? Thanks
You can cue up a recording by hitting Rec3? Does that work for 1+2? Is there a setting that needs to be on? Solid tips as always, keep up the good work!
unsure on mk2, but on the og there is a setting personalise called 'quick recording' - check the manual for more detail, but it basically allows one button recording. without you need 2 buttons (track button plus rec source button)
great tips, thank you! Is there any difference when sampling from MAIN vs T8 (track 8) when choosing your record settings, assuming you have T8 set as a Master track?
You can sample main but it will take into account the +/- values you have applied to your mains. So Sampling may not be consistent in regard to volumes. Sampling a master track with the track value at 127 will produce perfect results no matter what the mains are at.
@@EZBOT_ thanks! I was having some level inconsistency sampling main, didn't realize changing the mixer main level was causing that, cleaning that up is a really strong case for master track
@@EZBOT_ Just found this comment and deleted my comment asking the same thing. Thanks for the clarification! So if my mixer main is at +/- 0 should it be identical to master track at 127?
Really usefull video, thanks :) I'm little concerned about one thing, hope you can help me: when i record through the main (or master) one track that comes from an external instrument, i can perceive a little bit of noise, if i record using A B input this noise isn't here, and i haven't to increase gain of recording from AED attribute. Plus, i've noticed by accident that if sampling, for example input A B (INAB = A B), using REC3 (with SRC3 = - ), a very very weak sound coming from external instrument is still captured, summed with some noise. I dunno if i'm doing something wrong 😮

I figured this out while trying to figure out WHY was my buffer recording although I did not have recording one shot trig on or anything. It is WAY more convenient for internal resampling.
Nice one! Yea its always a bit fuzzy how rec buffers are related to tracks, and how flexible they are.. Im currently testing out some live mic techniques where I have the track set to a flex track and the rec settings looking at the input where the mic is hooked up to, even though there is no Thru track for it. and I can sing into the mic as its recording, and only after the recording loop is done then you hear it on your mix. Sometimes pre sliced and chopped which is always fun. the reason as to why I would do it this way is that I was running out of tracks and I wanted to avoid having to have a thru plus a flex dedicated to the mic. I know.. different than what you got here but losely related.. Anyways, as always thanks for the cool video!
Great information but I'm having a technical issue, when trying to resample selected tracks with cue, every time I playback those sample with a flex machine there is a big gain boost on recorded sample. Volume in the flex track is at 127 and the thru machines have also max volume. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions
Anyone know why I can’t quick record during playback? I can hit rec3 while playback is stopped, and see the buffer recording. I can then press play and it will capture what is playing. But rec3 does nothing when playback is already occurring. Very strange and frustrating. Not sure what is interfering here.
Hey EZBOT, are there any System Settings that Need to be adjusted before doing this? Im following EVERY Step in your Video, Second Boy Second, but when i press record it just wont record. Does it need to be a blank Track? Or do i maybe need to put a Recording Trigger somehow? Im pretty down, this is the third Session im trying to resample and it just wont work. What am i missing?
Hold the TRACK you want to record on and press the REC 1, 2, or 3 at the same time(depends on what source you want to record form). I have QUICK record turned on so thats why it seems confusing, you can turn that on in the PERSONALIZE settings. That way it only takes 1 button press.
