- It's finally done! My longest (and quite possibly best) YTP to date, based on possibly the worst source material I've ever used. Shark Tale, despite being an awful movie, is a memetastic experience waiting to happen. Enjoy this dank, dramatic, musical extravaganza based on the exciting adventures of Will Smith Fish.

Actually, in all seriousness, if Oscar turned out to be an actual Sharkslayer rather than someone who, as a scam artist with Nice Guy Syndrome, manipulated people into thinking that he actually was The Sharkslayer, that would make the movie live up to its (probably full if it’s also the animation that were more consistently breathtaking and the characters be way more three-dimensional than one-dimensional) potential!
This poop made me realize something about this movie. Oscar may be the protagonist, but he’s no hero.

The original Shark Tale is a guilty pleasure, to be certain, but this is better.

It’s a guilty pleasure for me because I watched it a lot in my childhood, that now even today I don’t really hate it. It’s an awful film but it’s so awful it’s good to me.
Same but definitely flawed in some areas, including the *ANIMATION,* though I feel like that what makes this film better with it's uncanniness, but it does make it worse as well. The console game wasn't that bad either.
It is a guilty pleasure too. I loved the movie as a kid. With that said though, this is better

This is a story where a clinically insane fish and his brother from another mother annihilate the shark population of Earth, becoming the tyrannical dictator of the ocean all the while rejecting Angie's advances and stealing all her money.
That’s why the Evil Morty thing at the end fits perfectly
This was more meaningful and impactful than the actual film
Honestly, Sharp Talk as a prequel is just perfect to showcase why Shark Tale is such an outstanding movie and why it has such great lore and intricate writing.
One of the biggest issues tackled in this film is that of human duality, which we can see in Oscar who has his roots as a humble immigrant worker at a whalewash. He's poor, but has many friends that care for him and truly appreciate him. He's also highly ambitious and the audience can see that he has the potential for greatness.
However, as the movie goes on, we see his schemes to get rich (which start off as small plans to get enough money to get out of the ghetto he grew up in) turn into more intricate and vicious manipulation of both the current political system, the mafia that grips the people in town and the desperate people themselves.
With this new Oscar being so different from the one we are introduced to at the beginning of the movie we are lead to believe that this isn't Oscar, but it's unclear if this is the Oscar we know, or if some outside force is at play.
Soon enough it is revealed that all of these actions were due to Matt Damon, an alter-ego of Oscar's that takes all of Oscar's initial character flaws and magnifies them, making him a terrifying, albeit interesting villain (this is very subtly foreshadowed at the 10:12 mark). Matt Damon would later gain independence from Oscar in Shark Tale, but even to this day, the subtle characterization and Damon's brilliantly written speeches in both movies makes me question whether Damon really is a separate entity from Oscar, or if he IS Oscar himself, just Oscar's dark side which Oscar doesn't wish to acknowledge.
And finally there's the climax of the movie and it's a thrilling, bone-chilling one too. Matt Damon has gained complete control over both Oscar and (posing as the Shark Slayer) the government's arsenal of space age weaponry. And in a swift move he eliminates what he believes to be the global population of sharks except for Lenny's father who he imprisoned and taunts mercilessly. He also, becomes Governor of the ocean and forces a policy that does not allow anyone to eat lunch in this town again. He does this to reinforce his iron fist on the populace and to keep them undernourished so that they cannot rebel against his tyrannical rule.
However, Lenny managed to escape and in a heartbreaking scene, he says goodbye to his father and has to flee under the cover of darkness through fields full of his brethrens lifeless bodies, to both find himself and find the real Oscar before it's too late.
It's quite possibly the closest thing to a flawless prequel that there is, (even up there with the likes Star Wars II: Revenge of the Sand and Toppolino) and I'll keep coming to it again and again. Thank you SchafrillasProductions, for making my life, so more fulfilled.

The novel was better. It told us about more sharks dying than just the ones mentioned here and had an entire chapter about Lenny on the run from the Anti Shark Seekndestroy Force, which was really sad. However, I will say this was good as well.
They also shortened the part where Oscar and Puff Daddy have an epic battle
while I do agree that the novel was better, there are some things that I’m glad they cut out, like that entire annoying and forced love story between the jellyfish. But some things I wished they didn’t cut, for example, Sebastian’s arch about weather he should obey his country or his mentor
I wanna see someone actually write a novel version of this now. Fanfic writers, to your keyboards!!!!!!

I loved this movie as a kid, despite being well aware of it's flaws. I guess as adults we're more cynical towards films like this.

When I watched this the first time, I wasn’t expecting any Les Mis references. My laughing intensified with each one. With the first 3 being close together AND near the beginning, I felt so happy. The high-pitched “JAVERT!” just blew me away! 😂

Returning to this classic poop years later because this is the masterpiece that introduced me to "Good for You" and I'm still bitter that the DEH movie cut it.

BIG OLL SHARK! With teeth like THIS and I was all like stay out of my SWAMP! But then out of nowhere Harry Potter came and I was all like you're going to come at me like that, you're going to come at the O like that and then Jabba the Hutt was uhno this guy is to badass man, so then 80 Jedi's show up and I take out like 67 of them.
I have never seen so many referances, from so many movies, YT vids, videogames, and time periods, so brilliantly crammed into 1 video!

It called "Shark tales" and I watched this moive as a kid it was funny and bad and I remember it being funny bad
