This was just a rollercoaster of emotions. First i was creeped out, then amused, then laughing my ass of, then felt betrayal, sadness for buzz then happiness. This is truly a masterpiece. A clear sign you cannot rush art.
A neurotic sheriff gaslights his friends into excommunicating a spaceman. Nearly driven to suicide, the spaceman learns of the wonders of herd immunity... or not, since the spaceman was at minimum asymptomatic. Made with the same madcap spirit the original era of Pixar was filled with while also satirizing early Pixar conventions, Buzz Catches Covid-19 does more with Buzz Lightyear than Pixar has in the last 15 years. The best Pixar film never made. I watch it every year before a new Pixar movie's release.
Alright, I just need to point out another stunning editing moment in this. Notice how at the moment 7:48 - 7:50 when the helicopter turns, the animation in Wallace does as well, it actually gives the 3D illusion that he is in the actual thing. ALL THE EDITING IN THIS VIDEO IS GENIUS AND DETAILED AS HECK, THIS GEM NEEDS TO BE STUDIED FOR GENERETIONS!
So in the end we don't know if Buzz actually had covid-19... Also, I'd like to imagine that Andy's bedroom is in it's own seperate plane of existence, and when Buzz was kicked out he was transported to a lesser reality. All of the Buzz's at the end were actually numerous exact parallels from different versions of the same plane, that were all kicked out for supposedly having covid-19.
Hmm.. What about when Buzz and the others go to the store? Is that city anchored to the reality in Andy's room or is that the same city that the other Buzzes vibe in at the end? 🤔
The fact that he's put so much effort into editing to make a world where all of these characters tie in with eachother is incredible, and that just makes me wonder why there's barely half a million views.
The best Covid-19 documentary ever made. A staggering epic about the psychosis wrought upon the masses told through middle school humor, clever editing tricks, and more honest pathos than Pixar has been able to do in years. A hysterically funny and politically incorrect masterpiece. The Buzz Lightyear movie we all needed, but did not know we wanted.
Most of the non-toy story characters like shrek and count dooku work in the context of the story if you think of them as toys as well, it just makes this even funnier imo

Ok I just feel like I have to point out how talented HourofPoop is. I mean he's able to make a YTP with a consistent story, amazing editing, and able to create flawless sentence mixes. And the random insertion of Grand Moff Tarkin or Gromit as if they're just established characters in the series is great.

This makes me miss era. 2020 was good in some ways, bad in others but something about being stuck at home watching memorable ytps, music, etc is so memorable and comforting
This is by far my favorite YTP I've ever seen, seriously. Not only are the visuals so well edited, and the sentence mixing is amazing, just the fact that you can tell that there was passion and a meaningful reason behind the project makes it so much better and more touching. On a slightly serious note, YTP has introduced me to a lot of great music. This version of “Windmills of Your Mind” on saxophone feels like hearing the original again for the first time, it’s that good.
Yeah it's very difficult to make a YTP that tells a story that differs from that of the film or films it's based on. I have to agree, this is one of the best YTPs ever made.
I was a kid around the time that At World’s End released, and while I had a Playmobil pirate ship, I didn’t have any POTC toys. I did have Toy Story characters, and they became my stand-in for the crew of the Black Pearl. I eventually got another pirate ship toyset, this one from Imaginext, and used a mix of other toys as the Flying Dutchman crew. It wasn’t exactly accurate, but with my imagination it was an epic Toy Story-POTC mash-up. So the Hoist the Colors acid trip scene was a bizarrely amazing full circle moment for me. Thank you guys for that.
Charmandy Orton Charmandy Orton As I think back on my childhood I think of stuff like how Transformers movie toys weren’t always that accurate since they were usually based on non-final designs, or how they didn’t make toys of every character from a given show or movie, so I’d have to use a placeholder to make due, just like how the Toys filled in for the POTC cast. And yeah, like Toy Story showed, my imagination filled in the blanks and made it ultimately rewarding, and probably moreso than if I had a perfectly accurate Black Pearl, Dutchman, etc. So if I ever think back about the toys I did want, ultimately I usually shrug and acknowledge that I had better with my own imagination. Corny, I know. But the Hoist the Colors scene was very full circle for me indeed.

I was a kid around the time that At World’s End released, and while I had a Playmobil pirate ship, I didn’t have any POTC toys. I did have Toy Story characters, and they became my stand-in for the crew of the Black Pearl. I eventually got another pirate ship toyset, this one from Imaginext, and used a mix of other toys as the Flying Dutchman crew. It wasn’t exactly accurate, but with my imagination it was an epic Toy Story-POTC mash-up.
So the Hoist the Colors acid trip scene was a bizarrely amazing full circle moment for me. Thank you guys for that.

Charmandy Orton Charmandy Orton As I think back on my childhood I think of stuff like how Transformers movie toys weren’t always that accurate since they were usually based on non-final designs, or how they didn’t make toys of every character from a given show or movie, so I’d have to use a placeholder to make due, just like how the Toys filled in for the POTC cast. And yeah, like Toy Story showed, my imagination filled in the blanks and made it ultimately rewarding, and probably moreso than if I had a perfectly accurate Black Pearl, Dutchman, etc. So if I ever think back about the toys I did want, ultimately I usually shrug and acknowledge that I had better with my own imagination.
Corny, I know. But the Hoist the Colors scene was very full circle for me indeed.
