You can do a 8/2 split or a 7/3 split. The larger period must be in the sleeper uninterrupted. While the smaller number can be in either the sleeper or off duty. You can take them in either order while some might try to argue you must take the larger period first. You can do either part of the split first. Say you drive 4 hours. You then take a 3 hour break off duty or in sleeper for whatever reason. Your clock has effectively been paused clear back to the time you started the 3 hour break. So if you drove and were on duty for 4 hours, say you now have 10 hours of your 14 left and 7 hours of your 11. You then drive another 4 hours and put it in sleeper and take a 7 hour break. You now have your time back as if you’d started your day after the initial 3 hour break, meaning you’ve got the first 4 hours of your day from before your 3 hour break has been wiped away and you’ve only used 4 hours of your day therefore you’re back to having 10 of your 14 left and 7 of your 11 left to get where you need to go without taking a full ten break, so long as you can accomplish your drive within that remaining 7 hours. I hope that makes sense 🤣. I may need to make a video on it. Might be less confusing if it’s more visual lol
Black n Decker has a coffee pot that has a thermos for the pot . Shuts off after it brews n stays hot for hours.

How do you split your hours? Without taking the full 10 hours.
