    "That should not be possible" just has to be the biggest compliment one magician can get from a fellow magician.

    Awesome reaction to a great performance! One little thing as regards the beautifully structured story: he sorta 'discovered' this magical box with a ribbon and two 'microcosms' as you said, and after he learned how it works, he got greedy and tried to loot all those coins, and that's when his magic powers were stripped from him and he went back to having nothing (just like in the start). Very well-crafted from start to end, and the magic itself is completely on another level!

      It reminds to a Chinese old story: A couple living with the old grandfather discover a old wooden barrel. They put the old grandfather at work, he should start cleaning the barrel with a brush. The brush fells into the barrel as the grandfather gets tired and suddenly it fills up with brushes. The couple then order the granpa to continue trowing brushes into the barrel, so they multiply. The Granpa has to work hard, transporting loads and loads of brushes and selling them. With the money the couple goes shopping nice things and leave the granpa working. As they are out, they think they should actually throw money into the barrel. They go fast back home, but when they arrive, the grandpa has fallen dead ... into the barrel. They pull him out but ... there is another dead gradpa into the barrel. They keep pulling dead grandpas, hundreds of then, until the barrel brakes.
      The burial costs ruins the greedy couple.
      (sorry for my horrible story telling, but I just made fast, have to go to sleepI

      Yes, that was the fun of this act. He seemed just as surprised as the audience. Like we're along for the ride on his discovery. Mind blowing, and a different perspective from the suave, slick style of Shin Lim. He's more "watch this" and Eric is more "what just happened?" Love them both.

    This is why you shouldn't stop your reaction videos bro, because people like your reactions, so much to the point that you've got to know many famous and successful magicians, now to the point of champions ASKING you PERSONALLY to react to their performances. I think your reactions are great and have been a large part of your success and platform on TH-cam and social media. Please keep it up, because it's part of what I love about your content.

      I completely echo these sentiments. I made a very similar comment to this myself when I first saw this video. The world of magic needs an ambassador/influencer that can relate to the general public far more than it needs another full time active magician. I really feel Eduard has set himself up perfectly to be this ambassador and influencer the magic community needs. He does a great job connecting the regular public to the world of magic through his reviews and his analysis. His reaction videos got me to start following magic and I'm sure that I'm just one of many they drew in. He could have more impact on the magic industry through his reviews/analysis than any single magician could have.

  • @Astimoff

    I love the concept at the end. He got greedy by turning all his cards to coins and trying to collect them, and was punished for his greed, so they took away his ribbon and changed his vest back to normal. Basically stripped him of his powers for abusing them

    I LOVE your analysis here. As a casual viewer or even someone who watches many magic videos and reviews I would not have immediately seen how this element of rules is so compelling.
    And what is even more remarkable as I thought about it, is in a way he is guaranteeing predictability throughout the entire act which normally would be antithetical to maximizing entertainment, yet he is able to create surprises jn how he manipulates these rules (including the vest, introducing the coin, moving the ribbon) and all these variations with coins and cards.
    This technique is actually ‘minimalism’ where the ribbon and frames and associated rules are the motif, and then are used in various iterations.
    Its amazing to see that as it is effective in music and visual art, this property can translate in magic as well.

  • @IntergalacticSpaceKitten

    It's such a brilliant act. And as a magician yourself, I love how you're not too good too be fooled. You're not like "Pfft...I know how to do that....I'm just not going to reveal it because, uh, magician's code.....yeah...." *awkwardly scratches head. Instead, applauding and rooting for another fellow magician's great skills is very honorable.

    Eric was telling a story
    It was like he first seen the power of magic making the cards blue to red and vice versa, he was very surprised by it all that he got greedy and made money. After making the money he put it in his box but the power of magic was not for him to abuse so he got punished by losing all of it
    The moral of the story is to never abuse something that’s good in your life or you might just lose it

    his vest had 3 layers. black, then blue-red, then black. see how thick it was at the beginning then so thin at the end. when he stood up to retrieve the far flung card it tugged on a string which yanked off the black layer. at the end the jacket is much skinnier than at the beginning

This guy is amazing and I have little or no idea how they do a good majority of what they do and don’t try too hard to figure it out because that defeats the purpose as a fan I feel. But you have serious chops and I enjoy what you put on display of your own work and I think you should get out there with them, especially since you are so young and skilled. I’m looking forward to it. Best-Michael from NYC

I know that you mentioned that you will be cutting back on your reaction vids--and selfishly I ask that you don't abandon them too much. I feel like your reaction videos act as a great bridge that connects magicians and people that are in tune with the magic industry to the general public. I find that your reactions almost educate the average person about how complex/fascinating a trick/routine is. Effectively--I think that what I'm trying to say is that I think that your reaction videos are a very useful and valuable tool to the world of magic in general. I truly hope that you continue doing them.

    There is no 'Close-up Grand Prix' "CATEGORY". There are several categories that fall into the 'close-up' group. Micro magic (what we normally call close-up), Card magic and Parlour (it is basically where you can stand and do larger effects, but this is not a stage). WHEN competing in these categories, the contestant who got the most points WINS THE 'CLOSE-UP GRAND PRIX'.

    I suspect that the cards have three layers. By sliding them slightly he shifts pushing the blue layer to cover the red, then back again. That's about all that I've conceived, but it could explain the bulk of his tricks.

    The frames appearing and disappearing on the table has to be video editing. That's the only thing in the act that doesnt make any sense. Not to mention, the footage is suddenly very blurry in those 2 spots? hmmm

    • @AmplifyChris
      @AmplifyChris 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No Video Editing. It was live and close up to an audiance.

    • @Badalight
      @Badalight 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AmplifyChris the version we see is a video feed, one that has been edited to cover up mistakes or something too obvious. The blur in that specific spot is highly noticeable. I know the original was live and close, but that's not the experience we're getting. We are seeing a recording with editing to make the act look better.

    That table has a technology. Watch when the cards disappear it looks like they’re on a green screen

    Its only one explanation for this to be a trick, is that there is another person under his table who help him and put the things there, but still does not explain how the card transferred under the ribbon, so its demonic trick.

    its one thing to know how something is done even knowing some moves i would not be able to repeat it thats usualy a good routine but then there are some with moves ive never seen or for wich i have no explanation how they are done ... thats the next level and i love it when there are moves that give that feeling back thats close to .. you know magic doesnt exist so it must be a trick but that little voice that sais ... maybe it was real magic ? :D ... and then there is even one level higher when you dont even anticipate something happening and you are surprised .. even tho you kinda know how this or that might be done realizing something happen after its done an not burning his hands for the moves this is what i love. i dont eevn wanna know how he did that card cut i dont even wanna start thinking about ideas i just wanna enjoy it ... such tricks are rare theese days
