      Watch Us Wander we will be on the Edge for it’s Transatlantic cruise next April. We are excited about it, but plenty of folks are complaining about the IV cabins. Your very thorough video has put my concerns to rest.

    • @watchuswander
      @watchuswander  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, wow, that will be an amazing cruise! I can see why people are disappointed since the IV is essentially a glorified window, but I like that it allows you to keep the window open at any time with no wind tunnel. Plus, it's cozier, more private, makes the room feel larger, and honestly, I don't spend a ton of time on my veranda anyway, haha. Have a wonderful time in April, Steven!

    Loved the video. Very informative. I thought I wanted to book a room with an infinite veranda but now not so sure. As one of the replies below states, I too, like to hang on a balcony railing and see up and down the ship.

    Yours is by far the most informative and practical video of this type of cabin on the Edge. The only aspect I'm not sure about is the sliding window instead of a "proper" balcony - having been on the Eclipse and Silhouette, I rather like being able to lean on the rail and watch the world go by. Anyway, we just booked yesterday for the Iberian Peninsula trip on the Edge in May, so thanks to your video, we can walk into the stateroom and know where everything is! Thanks again.

    • @watchuswander
      @watchuswander  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for the kind words, Adrian! The IV is definitely different than your traditional balcony but I liked the ingenuity of it. I didn't spend a lot of time on the balcony itself but liked having the window open for the fresh air and views. Edge is so beautiful, you'll love discovering your favorite places throughout the ship. Have a fantastic time in May! Come back and share your experience :)

      @@watchuswander Thank you for a comprehensive and enjoyable tour! We are sailing on it’s first transatlantic in April. All looks great but I worry that’s a very small closet for a 15 day cruise. Guess just expect everything will be wrinkled and move on. The room does look so much better than the others however. Love that there’s a plug next to the bed. If you have to use a CPAP it’s very difficult because you have an extension cord that will easily trip you.

    • @watchuswander
      @watchuswander  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Carol! Thanks for your comment. Those bed-side plugs are so nice to have as most of us are used to them at home. I hadn't considered how frustrating not having one could be when you have a CPAP. And I can understand your doubts on the closet. I hope you can make it work! Wouldn't free pressing services be helpful?? Thanks for watching and have a wonderful trip!

    I'm sailing on the Edge in May to the Iberian Peninsula and I'm really excited to be on this ship for the first time. Thanks for the thorough video. I'm wondering about that white vase or is it just a decoration?

    • @watchuswander
      @watchuswander  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Nilda! Your itinerary sounds amazing! Have a wonderful time. As for the white vase - yes, it is just a decoration on top of the dresser. I thought it had an odd placement in the room as the lamp next to it does not move so the vase just sits awkwardly next to the lamp and never felt "in place" with everything else! Good observation. Thanks for watching!

    Does anyone know if the AC continues to operate when the folding doors are open but the balcony window is closed?

    • @watchuswander
      @watchuswander  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, Steven! The AC will operate as long as the balcony window is closed. Whether the folding doors are open or not does not affect the AC. However, I do believe the AC will automatically turn off if you open the balcony window. Thank you for watching!

  • @BraukFam

    Are you able to open the balconies on these infinate verandas? It does not look like it.
    I hope to be sailing on the new Ascent soon.

    • @watchuswander
      @watchuswander  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Thanks so much for watching :) The Infinite Verandas are pretty much a window that goes up and down. There are "doors" that separate the space near the window but I never used them. You can lean out of the window and look around outside but it's very different than a traditional walk-out balcony. Having the window open allows for some fresh air and ocean sounds though! I hope that helps!

    You video was very accurate and nicely done. As for me I am not a fan of the infinite veranda it is only a WINDOW. I miss being able to feel the air that an open balcony offers. The enjoyment a morning breakfast on the veranda or to enjoy sunning on a chaise lounge in the privacy of your own room . This is just not possible with this new infinite design
    room Also it is nice to in the morning be able to open the curtains just a bit to see the full view of where you are without having to lower the blind exposing the whole room to the daylight if you room mate is not awake. I also found that when the doors to the area are closed you have to mover you belongings to accommodate the needed space very awkward
    Sadly this is a big miss in personal comfort for me just not a fan

      Another good point. On the traditional Celebrity balconies I could slip out between the drawn curtains to read outside or enjoy the early morning view without waking my wife. That can’t happen with this configuration. 🙁

    What am I missing here? The veranda just looks like a window you can open.

    • @watchuswander
      @watchuswander  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To be honest, yes, it is just a glorified window. I have found that you either love it or you hate it. I did like that the "veranda" made the room feel larger but the perk of a balcony is being able to go outside and this certainly does not feel the same.

    • @jonathanthorpe3037

      @@watchuswander cool, thanks for the reply. I may be heading on Apex soon and all the cabin prices from outside to the most premium balcony are the same, so I'm just trying to work out what to go for.

      I could not agree with you more. We are veterans of many Solstice-class cruises and at least on those balconies I feel like I’m outdoors. I also like looking over the rail of the balcony at the length of the ship. This so-called “infinite veranda” looks like an updated version of the traditional “ocean view” (read: porthole) cabins, just with a bigger window that opens half-way. We are set to sail on the Apex in October so I will see for myself, but from what I’ve seen on videos like this I’m not impressed.
