Hey guys and welcome to my channel! As you have probably deciphered from my channel name, I am both a mom and a police officer! I originally created my channel for motherhood and lifestyle content, but quickly realized I wanted to share the my love and passion for police work as well. I have been working as a police officer for the last 13 years and currently hold the rank of lieutenant in a large metropolitan police department.
In this video I will take you through a full 24 hours of my life as well as how I function (and manage to stay sane) on a night shift schedule and routine. I am currently assigned to our overnight shift (morning watch) and while the hours are not always ideal, I love and feel so incredibly blessed to work with my current group of officers and sergeants.
The majority of police officers on the streets of America are incredible and amazing people, striving to serve their communities as best they can. Unfortunately, bad police officers and evil do exist as well. If you have been unhappy with police services or had a bad experience with police, I am sorry you experienced that. I welcome you to get to know me and I hope that I can change your opinion for the better. Feel free to leave any questions you have down in the comments below and I will try my best to get back with you and/or create a video addressing them.
Much information about policing is not openly shared, but I believe it should be. In an effort to be transparent, I invite you to come along in this journey and I will share any knowledge I have with you. The next generation of police officers will become our law enforcement future and we must strive to always do better. I will also be creating content to help anyone, but especially women interested in law enforcement understand what to expect in every aspect of becoming and being a police officer.

I’m so glad you are humanizing the badge.❤️ do you have any therapy or self care routines? I’m coming from the mental health field so therapy is normal for me but i’m worried people don’t understand in the same way and will think i’m weak or crazy. But its so important to process trauma
Do I ever! And I also just participated in training to become a peer support rep and go to traumatic scenes and help emotionally support other officers. Mental health is becoming more normalized in policing as it should be. I’m working on a tips to getting hired video and in that I discuss mental health. It is crucial.
And I’m so glad you have mental health experience coming into policing! It will definitely help you understand more and you will be a valuable asset to your agency!

Stumbled on this channel and I love the videos! As someone who wishes to pursue a career in law enforcement I have tons questions I hope you can answer. Education is a big part of going through ranks in departments at least from what I have seen. Do you have any educational background that has helped you gain the rank of LT or has helped you rank up in your department? With 12 years of service I am sure you have seen it all. Quick question. For those who have never been arrested what would you say is the scariest part/when do people panic?
Everyone is different...for some it’s when the cuffs go on, for others it’s when they’re sitting in the back seat...for others it’s when they’re getting booked in the jail.
From what I can see. The job as Patrol Police in USA is very hard. You have to do multiple duties. From writing tickets, reports, comforting people all the way to potential serious deadly confrontations with criminals. In most countries in Asia, most patrol cops only have to drive and/or walk around. In case they encounter serious problems, they call paramilitary units to solve the problems. I think in USA street patrol police should get high salaries because of their many responsibilities.
I agree, most salaries should be higher based on risk alone. And that’s very interesting!

I'm personally a Firefighter on Tower 10 with the Boston fire department. Not going to lie I almost was a cop, 6 years later I still love the fire service. And would never change it for the world but I still wonder what it would be like to sit in a patrol car all day. I just love the brotherhood of firefighting and that's why I would never change it for the world, I respect all the cops out there thing is people don't get is were all the same only I carry a set of irons and you carry a gun And I hope all you anti cops get were all human we all have families. Also What's your husband do for a job?

Hay Lt. You been on the force 10 years right you should have senority right. I been on 20 now and got switched to first shift. I spent my first 8 years on overlap shift 8 to 4 am. I worked 3rd for 1 year. I then worked 2 shift for 8 years then I got transfer to first shift. I pick my own patrol routes to. It's nice to have 3 stripes but hate being the man! Keep safe and you and your family have a great Christmas.
Seniority starts over to an extent when you make a new rank. And with my agency it is all discretionary. I have been looked over multiple times and seniority played no factor. But nothing is forever so we will see what the future holds! Thank you for your service! You have a great holiday as well! 💙

Ours is Police Constable, Sergeant, Inspector, Chief Inspector, Superintendent, Chief Superintendent, Assistant Chief Constable, Deputy Chief Constable and finally Chief Constable (Scotland, UK).

I should do a whole video on it explaining! Ours begins with officer, then senior police officer or detective, then sergeant, lieutenant, captain, major, deputy chief, assistant chief, then chief.
Eating chili before working a a one person unit is OK. It’s torture if your FTO eats chili before the shift and you are the greenhorn and keeps telling you to “shut the window”

Do you personal carry when you’re off duty? Always wondered if most LEOs preferred to carry or not.
I do, yes. I am required to carry off duty in my jurisdiction but day to day I do as well. But I also carry half a dozen tourniquets…I’d rather be over prepared. 💙

Cop mom, what should a female police officer where for the oral board interview? I see lots of videos where the make police officers are explaining what a male cop should wear during the oral board , but I am a female and not sure what I should wear. I remember back bin 1991 when I was five years old my kindergarten teacher asked me what would I like to be when I grow up and I told her a police. However I don't have my drivers license as of right now I'm riding public transportation, so I must work on learning how to drive and I am a huge soda fan. I love sodas, especially the dark colored sodas like coca cola and root beer, but I haven't drink a soda in a month now it's hard because I know cops must drink plenty of water so that's what I'm drinking. Sometimes when I buy a lunch special a soda will come free with it but I will poor the soda out then I will get sad, but I've been drinking to much sodas.
Yes get your license and a women’s pant suit would be my suggestion. Water over soda is always a better choice
I have a question? I start the academy in Feb 2022,after the completion and passing did you do on the job training after or did you have to get hired first?
I was hired and completed the police academy while an active employee. After you finish the academy, you are sworn, then complete field training which was 12 weeks. Don’t miss my academy experience video though. The academy is difficult, even hired as an employee

I got a 1000 dollar ticket for lifting the front wheel of my sport bike off the ground. She didn’t sign the ticket and I was told to bring my copy to the clerk and she will scan it into the system because it isn’t showing up or maybe she forgot to turn it. What do you recommend? Do I still have to pay if she didn’t sign?
I would speak with their supervisor and the court. And show up for your court dates.

We don’t bid, we’re just assigned. And you’re stuck until a different opening comes up. Rotating sounds exhausting as well. I feel so messed up when I train for a week, then go back to nights, so I can’t imagine how you feel!
That's nuts. Our PBA would be snapping if they assigned shifts lmao. Bi-weekly just doesn't give you enough time to switch over. Monthly rotation is much better on the body. Do you guys get a shift differential?
