  • Hilarious moment pregnant sea otter steals surfer's board. A black pregnant otter can be seen occupying a surfer's board while out on the Pacific Ocean off the Santa Cruz coast. The surfer appears to be at a loss as to how to deal with the situation and moves extremely cautiously around the otter for fear of being attacked. Back on land his friends are in hysterics having never encountered such a situation in the past. Eventually another surfer paddles out to him to give him a hand but the otter starts to give chase. After about five minutes the otter finds something else to do and leaves the board behind while the surfer quickly heads back to shore.

Why are they surfing in kelp beds? That's home for sea otters. It's the surfers who are the invaders.

They do that to get away from predators especially if they are persistent. Or she may be really tired...

Typical, male attitude, she was exhausted and frightened and very possibly about to give birth. Instead of helping her to shore, u just leave her stranded. Did u not think that she was also trying to save herself from predators. Very poor boys. 😠

Stupid comment...... this particular otter has been seen stealing/biting multiple boards. It had nothing to do with the otters energy level or the gender of the person who's board was taken. Saying otherwise would be as ridiculous as me saying I'm tired and frightened so im going to come sleep in you're bed and there's nothing you can do about it😂

California Sea Otters are normally very playful and non-aggressive towards humans, BUT they are a family oriented mammal and will become very aggressive as well as violent towards humans if one is a female that is pregnant or still rearing her offsprings which can last for up to a period of one year, and even the male Sea Otters take part in raising their own offsprings.
