I watched this video quite a few times and learned Roberts method, terminology and the order in which he does the inspection and brake test. He has a great system, learn this video an these are the key components to cover, not more and not less. I just passed my CDL Class B skills test today on my first try here In Arizona. Thanks Robert and CDL College this video was great and I recommend it to anyone going for their Class B CDL.

After watching the video, I always practiced on my car. At least once every day for a couple of weeks I would watch the video then use my car as the prop. Or I would take my phone with me while the video was playing to follow directions every time. It helped put things in perspective. My neighbors probably thought I was crazy for spending so much time on my car but I didn't care. I was driven to pass that test. Will be driving a concrete truck soon

Watched it twice. Took notes with it then. Then I watched it again with the notes. Then I performed the inspection with it playing on my phone. Every day for a week, if I was driving, I was listening to it.
Use the terminology. Use his systems. Be robotic. It lets the tester know that you know what you’re supposed to be doing. Most importantly, use the advice at the end. TAKE YOUR TIME.

While you’re taking the driving test (road/highway) you must obey these rules.
•Make stop completely to all entrences to roads including yeld signs.
•Must obey “on&exit” ramp posted speed limits and signs
•Must safely stop at stop lights. If light turns yellow before truck crosses white paint stop lane, then you have run a red light.
•No right turns on red light
•Watch for double turn lane > go to propper lane.
•Must maintain the flow of the traffic, and get up to speed as to not impede traffic. VERY IMPORTANT!!!! Must stay within 5mph of speed limit always when safe to do so.
    • Must look door mirrors every 5-8 seconds.
    • left turn one lane into 2 lanes - Do not enter into the right lane. Make the turn from the designated lane(use left lane)
Right turn one lane into 2 lanes - do not enter into the left lane. This rule it’s considered illegal in some states and it only applies for class A drivers but you still got to change the lane asap after the turn.

    • @honeyhahn
      @honeyhahn 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

A light turning yellow as you cross the white paint stop line doesn't indicate running a red light. If the light turns red before you cross that line it is running a red light. If you are in the middle of an intersection and the light turns yellow you are obviously fine.

Yusef so I shouldn’t let the truck stall by letting it shut down by itself. To hill start a striaght truck is to let the clutch off about 50 percent and let go the brake immediately and press the accelerator right. To make right and left turns is same as car right. Because it doesn’t come with electrical and service air lines.

Driving straight truck is same thing as manual car right but it just double clutching mad different than car.

Some others jump around when doing the engine compartment and they’re hard to follow. Study this video repeatedly and you’ll pass your without any problems. He needs to do a video for an A truck, as I did have to go elsewhere to learn the inspection process for the trailer.

Just a warning for anyone in Illinois that does the test after watching this video, everything is fantastic up until the 3 part air brake test, for the air leak test DO NOT have the key in the on position it has to be off and then turn it on to pump the breaks, I got an auto fail because of it even tho I did everything else perfectly, this is a fantastic video and I highly recommend it, just double check in your states book about that bit

I watched this video about 50 times before my test in Pennsylvania today, the instructor didn't even say anything because I was so thorough because I quoted this video almost word from word. The only thing that isn't on the test now is when you do your air brakes test, you don't have to build the pressure up and count from 85 PSI to 100. Other than that this was the best training to make sure you nail it, I passed everything with flying colors. I Greatly appreciate you guys posting it!

I have to thank the posters of this video, and especially the guy featured. I took my CDL test the first time and failed the pre-trip inspection epically. The book that New Jersey provides just went way over my head! I didn't know how much detail was required.
And then I saw this video. And seeing it visually demonstrated was hugely helpful for me. He's never lazy about it. He's redundant, and knows how to phrase things so the quotes stick in your head. "Not bent, broken, cracked, it is securely mounted." The way he breaks things down makes it so easy to memorize. In addition to being a limo chauffeur going for a bus license, I'm an EMT- Instructor, and the guy is on an equal caliber with the best instructors I've worked with.
I must have watched this video 20 times. Then driving to my test, I had the video playing on my hands free blue tooth so I could hear all the quotes again. "Not bent, broken, cracked, it is securely mounted." I'm happy to say I passed the pre-trip inspection today. And I'm told NJ is one of the hardest states to do it in. After that, the rest of the test was easy, as long as you're used to the vehicle.
