As a black man that has lived in the Sandpoint area since 1991, l have never encountered any racial issues at all, only welcoming and wonderful people that treat you as if skin color has no bearing on how you are received.
The maximum someone could afford (be approved for a mortgage) with $65K income, with no other debt/loans outstanding, is about $300K so therefore anyone hoping to buy in these markets are going to have to show up with at least a $350K down payment…and then they’re not going to be able to afford the other costs associated with debt of that size. Just admit it…it’s a California market. It’s for all the people that inherited a house their parents bought for $35,000, 30 years ago. They can’t afford the property taxes in CA on what is now “valued” at 1.5 million so they sell it and show up to places like Sandpoint and pay top/insane dollar…all cash, driving the market out of reach for everyone else.
Thank you for watching. There are definitely paths to home ownership in North Idaho and no you don’t need to make tons of money, even though that does make it easier. I’ve helped several locals. You don’t make a bunch of money get into a home that they love.
Thanks for posting this. The math just doesn’t make sense for the vast majority of Americans. Like you said…it’s a California/Seattle market whether they want to admit it or not.
I’m have land in Sandpoint which we will be building on. I wanted to tell you this video was really well done. I love the breakdown between the two places.
Thank you so much for watching and if you’d like to talk about the building process, I’d be happy to chat with you. I’ve built three houses up here and have extended knowledge. 208-400-6162
I’m on the other side but had family in North Idaho and spent some summers there and still do. I almost opened up silverwood back in the day and remember people thought it was crazy. Hopefully 95 will be four lanes all the way to Sandpoint soon because at times in the summer forget about left turns.
@MegaZboo Silverwood has come a long way, and it’s great to see how things evolve over time. I completely agree about Hwy 95-expanding it would make a huge difference, especially during those busy summer months. What happened where you didn’t open it?
My family and I as a kid went there the first year it opened. Almost no one was there on that nice summer day and everyone had a seat to themselves on the train with many seats vacant. I remember we talked about being glad we went because thinking the park was going to fail badly.
my 2 cents... He mentions Smoked Smith BBQ. I ate there once. The food was okay, but not what I'd call good. Their band played so loud it was impossible carry on a conversation while eating. Pack River restaurant. It's pretty good, but it's 20 min northeast of Sandpoint, putting it almost an hour from me. The Fat Pig. I ate there twice. It sucked both times. And the 313. Never tried it, but never talked to anyone who thought it was special. He lists Powder hound. Decent pizza, but definitely not awesome. Plenty of places serve better. Burger Doc? Been there a few times. Decent hamburgers, but horrible service. HE DOESN'T MENTION A SINGLE ONE OF THE TRULY EXCELLENT RESTAURANTS IN SANDPOINT! Spuds - awesome. Everything on the menu is incredible. Arlo's - best Italian you'll ever eat. Baxters - best pub food in North Idaho. Best desserts anywhere. City Beach Organics - best deli sandwiches and wraps I've ever eaten Heart Bowls - best fruit bowls in the world Joel's - best mexican food in north idaho Pie Hut - great sandwiches, killer pies And the most egregious omission of all... The Forge Artisan Pizza. Nuff said
Sagle Idaho is your best bet, I've been there for 40 years and they still don't have their own law enforcement Police department, which is like 12 to 13 mi from Sandpoint Idaho, from where I live, but you got to remember Sagle Idaho is for people that have retired and have pensions and people that have lived there their whole life, the only benefit in living in Coeur d'Alene is that it's closer to the Washington border.
That's quite interesting! Given your long-term perspective, what would you say are the most significant benefits and challenges of living in Sagle, especially for newcomers?
Nazis and white supremacy is definitely still in north Idaho. Just 2 years ago a bunch of Proud Boys got busted on their way to a pride event. I know a small business owner personally who has been doxxed and attacked online and in person by the neo nazis. Other than that, houses are super expensive and because of that, at least in Sandpoint, there’s not a lot of young people. You either inherit the house when your folks die or you move away.
I hate hearing sotries like this. Anywhere you go there will be hate crime. The point I was making in this video, people make it seem like rallies and marches are happening on the public roads, which its not. On my personal account and the many people I know, we have not seen any hate crime.... not to say its not around here because again, its everywhere and in every town.
I think the politics of these areas are good not really going into the partisan politics, it’s just they seem more common sense for the various elected officials, and the elected positions that are not good the people put those people in check pretty fast. Just good politics in both cities. One thing I think you should touch on is the lakes, because of both places being lake shore towns, lake pend oreilli is colder and that explains some of these micro climates you speak of, not as comfortable of a lake at sandpoint .
Oh please.... Let all the freedom fighters move to ID.... They're great for Washington State's economy. They all come and work here They all come to shop here They complain about Socialist WA taking freedom away while standing @Cannabis & Glass off Stateline exit, buying a felony ID conviction.... It's like Dumb and Dumber and Dumbest ever. Move to N ID.... You'll enjoy the best Washington has to offer. 😏
If you live in Sandpoint or Coeur d'Alene, what do you like most about living there?
As a black man that has lived in the Sandpoint area since 1991, l have never encountered any racial issues at all, only welcoming and wonderful people that treat you as if skin color has no bearing on how you are received.
Thank you for watching and your comment. I’m sure living here as long as you have, you’ve seen quite the changes.
Those realestate prices are ridiculous!
I wish they were lower because the area is very expensive now.
People pay them and put themselves in debt slavery for life. Stupid, especially when you factor all the other cost associated with a home.

This last winter was mild but the worst for not seeing the sun at all.
Yeah it was a joke. How long have you been in northern Idaho

@MegaZboo oh wow! Certainly not the case anymore. They keep expanding as well. Great place to spend the day with the family during the summer.
Great comprehensive and fair report
Thank you for watching. It’s much appreciated.
TY ..You did a great job!!
CDA cuz winter Hospital
Much appreciated. Thank you for watching.
Coeur d'Alene is a great option if you want winter but not a LOT of winter. Have you ever lived in the snow?
my 2 cents...

I agree the band music can get a little loud. Still I’m a big fan of their food.
The secret is out. This is a truly great area to live. Despite the growth l wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
Not sure I could’ve said it any better

Being closer to Washington is not really the benefit you speak of

You probably should not move here. Good point.
The backdrop picture for Sandpoint looks like Boise
Yes it is. I’m waiting for the weather to turn to grab some more Sandpoint video.

You do bring up a good point about the lakes and I’ll work this into future videos. Thank you for watching. Do you live in Sandpoint or Coeur d’Alene?
@@Ben_Genaetta
Thompson falls,
Do you have more video of Sandpoint? About 3 minutes in and I’ve seen lots of shots of Boise that can be misleading to those who don’t know
I hate using those clips and once the weather turns, I’ll be grabbing much more video of Sandpoint and Coeur d’Alene.
@@Ben_Genaettaright on! I live in Boise and wanna get out so looking forward to more of your videos!
I like Boise but north Idaho is WAY better. Working with several people coming from Boise. When you’re ready to connect I’ll be ready
@SAHAMH123 didn’t have enough video of Sandpoint at the time and it was winter. I have lots of google aerial video now
Activities??? With these income levels of most people, your activities had better be collecting scraps and cans to sell for cash or driving an Uber.
One thing I love about North Idaho is all the free options. This includes being outside.
Hard Pass on Idaho. Not looking to live in a facist, racist state.
I have the same reaction to some other states. Wishing you the best wherever you call home.
Oh please.... Let all the freedom fighters move to ID.... They're great for Washington State's economy.

Move to N ID.... You'll enjoy the best Washington has to offer. 😏
Sounds good, glad people like you don't like to live in nice places
Good decision! Don’t move to Idaho!
