Just moved to Idaho from California. We lived in Brentwood near Concord and i drove in to San Francisco every day for work. We moved to Idaho Falls and absolutely love it! No mor 4hrs on the road to work an 8hr shift. People are nice, cost of living means i get to retire at 55 not 60. My wife is having so much fun and she has her high school friends who live here. The best choice we ever made! Starting my own knife business after being on forged in fire. Time to have some fun.

New Yorkers are moving into Cali and ruining all that was beautiful. Californians are moving to Idaho and ruining all that is beautiful.
Why do city people drive through the country, love the open spaces, farm and ranch lands, absorb the peace and quiet…. Then buy property and complain about the farms and ranches until they get them shut down.

My great great grandfather settled here in Idaho from Sweden when Idaho was in its infancy and made a ranch here that still stands and works to this day. And is in the family. Got passed to his son then to the next son and the next and the next till my grandpa inherited it who was drafted to the military during the Korean War he was a corporal and soon he was honorably discharged due to his wounds in active combat and spent the next 80 years of his life on the ranch and farm. A wife and nine kids. My family is bound to Idaho and no doubt will always be bound to Idaho for life. I’m just a greatful grandson who is glad for Idaho and it’s people. It’s a beautiful state with beautiful sights and in my opinion is a state seemingly more untouched by the volatile political climate at least in rural Idaho. Those who come here no matter who you are will always be treated with kindness and care and respect. That I can guarantee. We keep to ourselves in the best way. We love our neighbors and are always courteous and kind at least in my experience growing up here and before anyone asks it’s not racist here. I’m black and have always been treated with kindness and love and yes even by the police. The police here are also of good stock and have good hearts.
With respect to all from me - A Simple US Army Engineer Idaho Native.

Very appealing. I'm sitting here in San Jose, CA paying sky high taxes for failing schools, open air drug markets (excuse me, "tent encampments"), and rampant crime. You NEVER see kids playing on the street and we live in a nice area. Neighbors (even ones with kids the same age) don't wave or say hi. My neighbor moved to Idaho last year and so did his two sons with their families.

No offense, but this is nice couple who are trying to justify their move, and not sounding very convincing. This is staged promo by a realtor who sees the boom ending. Boise is boring, it's dry, and the winters are very cold. Traffic in Boise is now HORRIBLE. No, trust me, you're not going fishing, hunting, hiking everyday just because you moved to Boise, you'll do what you did before you moved there. I have a sister who lives in Boise and hear her complaints all the time. I live in California and heard that my retired neighbor is leaving Boise and moving BACK to California.

@@GoIdaho Let's examine the truth pal. Yes you get freedom to make money but that comes with a cost. The truth is that traffic is terrible and the infrastructure soon will not be able to tolerate the influx of people. What happens when many people are concentrated in one spot? Crime, traffic, pollution, prices all go up. Let me tell you what else happens, people start voting for social programs to support that population growth and low income people that have been priced out of the market. In essence it becomes Cali all over again while people like you probably make enough to have houses in two different states. You're a minority.
I am going to vote on no more development, meeting is on Monday. Corey Barton Homes circling my small town like a vulture and the Mayor who have never dealt with million dollar budgets probably sees dollar bills. Yeah its not gunna happen. Everytime a new house is going to be shown we have vowed to go by it with our guns slung over our shoulders wearing overalls like dumb rednecks, open carry is great. Especially when white people see Hispanic people doing open carry, the confusion is too funny!!!
One other fact is that Micron Technology, the largest private employer in the Valley is extremely progressive. Sanjay is as left leaning as it gets and he is changing the culture of the valley which is for the better if your left leaning but if you're a right leaning California or Oregon retired refugee your highly paid young neighbors are likely to be Democrats.

I'm an ex Californian who moved to Idaho via Oklahoma. I visited many places and actually lived in Jenks Oklahoma for 6 months. My daughter moved here to Meridian Idaho and I then followed her. Best decision, ever. This place is clean and feels safe. I had an Amazon package on my front doorstep for 1 week without it being stolen. In Oklahoma it would have been stolen within an hour. It's funny about the DMV. The DMV in California AND oklahoma are a living hell experience. Looking forward to Idaho's DMV, haha. Getting utilities set up was a snap. The clerks answer the phones and are polite. My internet provider actually cares about doing a good job for their customers. Wow, I have to pinch myself.

I lived near 36th; and state street in Boise on Pinehurst dr for almost three months in 2000.
I rented a room from the home owner for $300 a month; and I definitely enjoyed living in Boise; I had a job from one of those temp employment agencies working in the HP facility for an environmental company helping to recycle cardboard boxes; and scrap metal parts from the hardware of computers; and fax machines.
The car that; I bought from an irresponsible motorist was having mechanical problems so; I left Boise to return to the race tracks in Kentucky where; I live rent free.
I liked living in Boise but; I felt that I had to leave because of my problem vehicle.
I had no problem getting an Idaho driver’s license; and plates; and tags.
My opinion of Boise is that it’s not the right place for everyone who wants to relocate to.

“Low cost of living” lmfaooooo Idaho has the fastest growing market in the nation right now, if your moving here be prepared to spend at least half a million. Property taxes alone have doubled this year due to the immense inflation, if you’re going to cda or anywhere downtown be ready to spend 10-15min at each light. Smh ya’ll need to be honest, growth happens, and we are getting hit the hardest.

@@bobbyboi8820 Real Estate has appreciated in Boise and everywhere else over the last two years much faster than wages. I agree! But if you consider all other expenses compared to other metro areas, I found it to be cheaper. Utillities, for example, are much cheaper as is car registration, etc. etc., than say the Phoenix metro area. Look at the property taxes in Texas; very high! But if your focus is on just RE prices alone, then I agree. Additonally, it seems the Boise area needs to focus more on bringing higher paying jobs to its market. Relying solely on CA transplants isn't a good long-term plan. I will add one more issue I observed while in Boise area, that is the infrastructure has not been improved to include all the new housing. But with the extension of hwy 44 and hwy 16, I think will help. It is going to take a while, that's all!

@@bhlibertybhliberty3403 I agree with you to a point. “Compared to other states” is a phase you won’t be able to use when Idaho is rapidly catching up, insurance and utilities have gone up tremendously this year. I already stated property taxes have doubled this year as well. Everyone wants to move here but nobody wants to work when the minimum wage is still $7.25 which is why most businesses are understaffed here and you can’t even get a fast food burger without waiting 25min now. We haven’t even peaked yet and prices are only going higher, prepare your pockets.

With the climb of interest rates, the only direction property values can go is down because it will price folks out of the market. If you like living in a city that has cold winter months but doesn’t get buried under several inches; or a foot; or two feet of snow from a blizzard then Boise is the perfect city to live in just get use to the traffic congestion during morning; and evening rush hours!
If the disgruntled Californian residents can get the time to enjoy the skiing at the ski resorts; and snowmobiling; or ice skating at the rink; or other outdoor activities then they will definitely like living in the Treasure Valley area.

I am happy to say we are voting down the applications from developers in our city. The infrastructure cannot take the growth. The new people move into the proposed rental units and our taxes go up, and they could take away our votes and vote in their interests for the city even though they are not permanent residents and have not paid decades of taxes here. I am so glad the interests rates went up to slow the growth.

Grew up in California, which was for all things considered, the best state in the country from my perspective having lived there over forty years The features that made California so impressive like the weather, natural beauty, industry, a coastal state with mountains, etc. attracted a rabid multicultural invasion which has in effect destroyed it. San Francisco was one of the most beautiful cities in the world and it can be viewed as an example of everything evil experienced by the rest of the country. Northern Idaho in a lot of ways is how America use to be, and now in my older years is a logical choice because I wasn't raised in a politically correct enviroment.

I normally never comment on videos like this but with the title of this video and my own experiences I HAD TO comment.
SO, Jan 2022 I moved from So Cal to Boise. After dozens of videos mind you, lots of research, my daughter and I decided on ID.
We arrived in Boise and it was NOT Coeur d'Alene let's just say that. We had to move into an apartment, the WORST I'd ever experienced btw. Terrible management. Took my deposit after I only lived there for 3 months.
Gas was $3.87 gal and now July 13th it's $5.23 gal
I've never seen so many purple, green, pink, colored hair people - guys looking like women, women looking like guys so essentially it's been referred to as "PORTLAND LIGHT"
I almost got hit driving on 2 separate occasions.
Unfriendly people, house prices insane for what you get, unless you are in that range of over $500 like the people you interviewed - the idaho sign with the heart in it gave the video away also.
I won't even mention my experience at a local motorcycle dealership- that's another story-
roads not surfaced, everywhere I go speed is 35 mph on 2-3 lane roads that should easily be 50
very low pay not keeping up with cost of living and govt jobs you would think pay well...nope they are among the worst.
Unless you come here with your pocket full of CA equity from and have 2 incomes and at least one over 6 figures your not going to find a nice home here
I've been here for 5 months and have not met anyone. Certainly no one waves hi or smiles -
My conclusion is, I made the wrong choice, but at the time moving companies charging huge prices to rent moving trucks, it's been a nightmare.
BTW, I've never seen any place that house sq ft is under 1000 and they want over $400K for it.
Every house I looked at so far needs major updating and almost no pride of ownership, no curb appeal either
So, unless you have a lot of money probably gonna have a hard time, Oh- almost forgot...My daughter and I were driving down a road called eagle to the right on a krail
I see in 3 ft letters spray painted...CALIFORNIANS SUCK!
    That has been my experience.

I just got an elementary teacher degree and am considering moving from CA to Idaho. Probably the Twin Falls area. They need teachers there and I don't like how districts in CA are racist against Whites (I'm White and have experienced plenty of anti-White racism here in the 12 years I worked in schools in different positions.) I also don't like the districts here pushing trans agenda.
CA wants to force a covid mandate to work in schools if the FDA ever approves it (not emergency approval), so I don't like that about CA either.
State income tax would be 6% in Idaho, but it is 12% here in CA for a starting teacher's income level.

It brings back my own childhood, where we actually played outside instead of sitting inside with video games, Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook and all the other social media platforms.
Children playing outside also teaches them social skills, communication skills and how to get along with others; you know, things they will never find from inflated, prideful selfish social media platforms.
