I always have an issue with ‘friends’ who also only like to hear your business, but never reveal anything going on in their lives… Your life is used as conversation starters, but you’ve no clue how things are with them because they keep it surface-level. I’ve got to stop oversharing and trusting everyone with my stories 😅

Same...but it's a colleague at work I can't choose. Cause I love my work. I just don't like that specific person. She's soooooooo shady. And always asks and listens about other ppls business, makes passive agressive comments.And is a racist. But she knows she has to communicate with me because of work and how much other colleagues respect me. So she keeps it passive agressive, collects all the info and continues the asslickery to my colleagues😂
Pay attention to those "friends" who are always there during your lows but seem absent during your happiness and success.
This is so messed up. Maybe you didnt include them in your happiness and yet theyre graceful enough to extend a helping hand in hard Times ? Maybe theyre the supporting type that loves to see you soar independently but will always be there to catch you if you fall ?
Show grace and be grateful people still show up for you.

Also some friends are just very empathetic in nature, which makes them easier to go to during low times, it doesn't mean they aren't happy for you during the highs! And it definitely doesn't mean they rejoice in your misery! What people do with the information you share with them is the ultimate judge of their intentions!

And also pay attention to the “friends” that come to you only on their low points and be distant when they have everything together. Friendships is about balance.
The thing is my so call friends r the only friends I don’t knw who else to talk to but them smh
I heard a psychologist say that when you and your partner are having an argument and he/she is hitting below the belt and being totally disrespectful, just say him/her - "I am not your enemy. We are on the same team."

I'm sorry to say but I do not agree with that psychologist a person who hits below the belt or being totally disrespectful needs to receive an ultimatum. Either they change or the relationship is over. I have never ever spoken to someone I'm intimate with as if they were less human and I will never ever put up with it

The gym and listening to corny self help books. I started doing that. I woke up very early and worked out before work and I am feeling so much better. Try it.
It's time for a detox... I was depressed for no apparent reason, well i had some big life changes but usually i can shake it off fairly quickly but this time messed me up. Thn i remembered i haven't detox recently. Now feeling better daily. Cleanse from inside out.

I always say that if you have a friend that tells you everyone else’s business, they are telling everyone else all of your business. Don’t think that they can keep your secrets and spills everyone else’s.

in my big age, I've learned this the hard way. Additionally, be leery of friends who judge your hard times especially based on experiences in your past. the worst are the ones who have experienced the SAME experiences but all of a sudden have amnesia and are on their high horse. Bottom line: EVERYONE can attest to making poor decisions especially in their younger days. no one should make you feel inferior bc trust me...they are not any better
I completely agree with you all about friends who gloat in your misfortune, but what if its your family. I was a Regional Manager and the company decided to eliminate the position and the Directors took over. I was out of a job and when I told my mother that day she replied with oh I guess I will not be getting a Coach or Michael Kors handbag for Christmas that year, nor will I be giving her some of my bonus money. I could not believe it. She did not seem to feel bad that I lost a job as a divorced female with a home and child. She did not ask if I was ok. She did not ask if I needed anything. All my mother was concerned with was that she was not going to get something out of me. Till this day that has hurt me. This was not a friend. This was my mom. This was the one person that I thought was there for me only to find out that I was wrong. Now I try and keep good and bad news to myself. People seem to be out for what they can get out of you and that's it.

I don’t know if i agree with Adrienne about the harping on bad things. If your friend needs to vent or express what bothers them who are you to tell them to move on, and quit talking about it.. friends are not just there for your high rises in life.
Yeah that sounds like stop talking about it, your killing my vibe? We all need to vent sometimes. I will vent and I will let you vent and get upset with you. So that's not always true.
1) Way too many people are wolves in sheep's clothing. That's why you need to be really careful about what you share & who you share it with (especially on social media). Once it comes out of your mouth, or once you hit "send", it's no longer just your business.
2) Some people are always on their A-game around strangers because those aren't the people who "love you unconditionally". By comparison, they'll sometimes bring their C or D-game when they're around loved ones because those are the people who have "unconditional" love
1. We don’t want the stranger to know who we REALLY are so we act nice even when we aren’t authentically nice.
2. Many people take those closest to them for grant. It’s almost human to get used to people and get comfortable

Sometimes an emotional connection is just hatred cultivated for years, and I was so happy to leave the place where I lived before to have some fresh air, to start a new life and to forget all the misfortunes that person had been doing on me for so long. There should be smth more than just a plate of soup...

Disagree with Adrienne. If your friend is using your misery as entertainment, that is no friend. If course theres a limit to how much you harp on something, but if you cant trust your friends, who do you have?
Yeah I like Ade but she lives in a vacuum where she only cares about her husband and family. She seems so annoyed when she asked to actually be a friend outside of partying with them.

I believe it's only human nature to want to be seen regardless of what's going on in our lives. When we're seen when things are difficult makes it easier to recover from setbacks however not everyone is willing to trek that journey

I do root for people to fail especially at work where some of my co-workers are knuckleheads they make your job harder not easier. I don't want to continue working with them especially when they know what they're doing is affecting you they're inconsiderate. The next best thing is wishing for them to do something stupid and lose their job because they refuse to change

I agree with Adrienne about not harping on things. Not necessary bc ppl use your misery as their entertainment, but bc it can keep you in a funk longer than you would be if you just discussed with 1 or 2 trusted ppl. Any more than that usually turns into unsolicited advice filled with negativity that has left you confused.

This is the #1 mistake both men and women make when they fall on hard times.
I am transparent about being in therapy trying to deal with depression over my sister's death. You would think this should be a third rail topic for my friends and associates to discuss among themselves.
So why did I find out a few months ago certain "associates" of mine were gleefully mocking me by saying *"Did you hear Ms. Perfect is seeing a shrink? Ms. I have all the answers couldn't heal herself. Haha"*
And when I confronted them about it, each one denied they said anything. But when I played the audio (that was shared with me) some tried to gaslight me and a couple just cried and said they were drunk. I will say it again, ONLY KEEP A SMALL GROUP OF REAL FRIENDS IN YOUR CIRCLE!
Not everyone that says they are a friend, deserves that title.

What these women fail to understand is that many girlfriends they and Adrienne claim she has are not her friends many are associates they just don't know it yet. If a person can find one person a true friend in a lifetime you did a great job many, no way. Even saying that some friends will hang on for decades because you give them everything they need. Remember Adrienne a word of advice, never tell anyone anything you don't want to be repeated because it will be. One of my associates told me I have too much, we no longer interact because a true friend/associate never says such a thing. She had issues with me constantly giving her things I no longer used or was given.
