    So what I get from this is the knowledge that overbearing auntie figures are just part of the human experience and transcend all cultures.

    I'll be honest, the show itself isn't that interesting to me, but hearing the two of you relate it to your own lives and culture is what makes this reaction. Keep it up!

      @@TheFiddler69 yeah, that sucks glad to see her around still.
      I don't personally care for anime, I've tried, just never could get into it.
      Like I've watched a lot of naruto tried. I tried hunter x hunter but was bored af.
      I tried and finished avatar; I realize this isn't considered anime. But I personally felt it to be predicable and boring.
      Dunno guess it's just my my style. To each their own right 🤔

    As 'a brown' who's lived in the US and middle east, I am so glad I get to see some Desi normies react to this! Y'all get perspectives from both worlds. I legit couldn't stand this past episode 2 but I'd love to see Suraj and even Rana react to this and also y'all should check out "A Suitable Girl" which is a documentary but also features Seema Aunty. Excited to see more of these coming!

  • @finalparadoxx

    This a was great reaction! Just wanna reiterate that the experience varies for different communities and there is no one standard. For example, my parents (North Indian) were arranged but still met and had a brief "courtship" period before marriage

  • @m.e.3862
    @m.e.3862 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Glad you 2 are watching. Was wondering if the Normies were reacting to this. I'm genuinely interested in your insights. I'm guessing that this process would be better than arranged marriages? I knew some kids back in school whose parents were in arranged marriages and the kids were okay but the parents were miserable. These kids would hang out at the mall or friends houses because their home life was terrible. And usually when they left for college the parents got separated or divorced... I'm wondering if any of Aunty's clients suffered the same fate

  • @mbanerjee5889

    I had started watching Indian Matchmaking as a joke but eventually, my parents started watching it too. The best way I can describe the show is cringey funny with some truth.
    It was interesting watching with my parents (who had an arranged marriage) and my "desi-fied" husband (who is Latino).

    Everyone else has probably known but finding out in this reaction that Navi & Micky aren't together anymore was a surprise.
    Anyways, this series interested me then I read this article: www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2020/07/26/895008997/netflixs-indian-matchmaking-is-the-talk-of-india-and-not-in-a-good-way which was fantastic btw and I didn't really care to watch it anymore. BUT, watching with your commentary (the commentary of two American Indians who have mature heads on their shoulders) I find to be really enjoyable and educational. So thanks for reacting to this!!

    So do you guys get asked on dates and go on "normal" dates living in America? Are your parents still trying to hook you up?

    • @Thenormies
      @Thenormies  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, we go on normal dates. Parents have asked if they need to set us up with someone for marriage but we have been telling them no. They are not "openly" aware that we go on dates but they assume because they assume we will find someone for ourselves, so we will have to go on date for that to happen lol. - Navi
