This is so bizarre- I went to school with Mark. I’m more into bmx racing but all kinds of bike videos pop up in my feed. I was about five minutes into this video and was suddenly hit with the realization that this is the guy one class ahead of me that was always tooling around on a freestyle bike. I haven’t heard from or seen him in 30 years. What a bizarre world to come across him in a random video like this.
It never ceases to amaze me how small the world can be!!!! Either that or there’s some super super way too deep stuff going on with Google knowing the history of both of your lives
@@TheOtherMAJ started racing bmx three years ago, I love it! I’m so happy to see you are still riding - you’re a true lifer! Oh and that bike is incredible!
Ive been into bikes and worked in shops for 35 years, this is impressive and very well done, congrats!! .. btw, the brakes are almost identical to a some vintage mountain bike stuff also the front hub looks like a Nuke Proof from bitd!!
I am a flatlander and I met Mark last year in Colorado Springs in Battle In the rockies! He has so much good parts that he made that I was amazed! Too bad I don’t run brakes! But maybe next time! Thank you both for the interview

I couldn’t wait to watch this video & it didn’t disappoint! Mark’s a great & talented dude. I feel fortunate to be able to ride with him every so often. Funny about the background noise - wasn’t a problem for me and I apologize interrupting your interview! 🤘🏽🤣
love the S&M seat post but this mad scientist could make a carbon fiber seat post! would be sweet. The carbon brakes are sick too! tell him to make me some springfield carbons! haha cant be messing with those regular springs lol
The sealed bearings in the U Brakes is interesting but i remember using ACS Boa Caliper Brakes that had open ball bearings that were hidden behind a rubber seal and a dial on nut and having to crack open sealed bearings in a vice to replace the bearings i had lost when they failed.
As a flat rider myself sometimes you need to make your own stuff to keep riding. Once had to use an unsealed axle in a sealed hub cause i couldnt find a replacment axle . Did it by theading a nut to act as a shoulder for the bearngs to seat against inside the hub shell on both sides and i never had a problem. Even recently had some frame mods to do to except 14mm axle on the rear because most flat bikes only made for 3/8ths.
I'm not into BMX... more road and gravel cycling. I guess the algorythm pushed it a little when this appeared in my feed.... My day job though, is mechanical designer and my dad is a retired machinist with a shop full of tools and machines... I totally get this and csn confirm this is proper mad scientist wizardry right there!!!
Amazing. It’s cool to see so much innovation - brakes, spokes, forks etc! Did you get the weight of the bike? I’ve been weening my flatland bike down to 26.5lbs (ground master with carbon rims, two brakes, 145mm cranks etc), but I’d imagine Mark’s bike would be a fair bit less?
How much were custom made tires? $60,000? Oh wait those are store bought... Some parts are too expensive to custom make for a client. Unless Elon really wanted those tesla logos in the tire...
I spent over 2k on parts on my bmx I rebuild it all new parts my brother found it in the trash and I decided I wanted to give it another chance and different looks 💯🔥🦾

My favorite bike! 🙌 So stoked to see those barends on such an awesome bike 🖤🖤🙌
Best bar ends I've ever had, still the first set and hasn't worn out yet. Might need you to print me some pegends!
Sick build.
Always been a fan if Mark’s riding. Dude’s awesome. Great video, but maybe somewhere more quiet next time!
Definitely gotta either go somewhere quiet next time or get a mic. Hopefully it was at least bearable!

I want a pair of those brakes.
I was looking for vids on custom painting rim brakes…this dude made his own lol
The coloured carbon callipers he makes are amazing
I hope you get pattern pending on these because corporates might take it.
rope spokes 😮crazy
that is a bad ass boy, I told you that

How similar are your brakes compared to Dominik of Autum bikes, with bearings he's got? I think his calliper is alloy though l think.
I'm trying to find that brake saucer thing. Where can I buy it?
Did he ever say what the total weight was?
He replied to another comment here saying it's around 17.5 pounds. You can probably find the comment pretty easy if you wanna read his exact details.
