    It's funny, Fauna is weirdly similar on the EN side. She plays games, chats, does ASMR, but never was a singer, never wanted to focus on dancing or other big-production 3D events... and yet she is doing concerts, karaoke, and 3D stuff all the time. Danchou and Fauna have both really come a long way. Both feel SO integral to Hololive, even if they aren't singer-dancers like some.

      @@guromaiden2026 I think it's pretty clear that you usually need SOME kind of talent to get into Hololive. The big ones are probably singing, dancing, and art, but there have clearly been some niche skills like gaming and ASMR.

      @@guromaiden2026 they haven't found a good vocal teacher. hololive may have singing lessons but imo the lessons are more focused on performance than singing correctly. of course, not all members want to be a Suisei or a Nerissa so it's understandable that the lessons are made that way I presume.

      To be honest, this is what I would like to see more of. My dream is a creation of something like "Hololive Gamers EN" - a group with little focus on singing and dancing and more on streaming and gaming. I miss the pandemic days of Hololive. Songs and concerts aren't the reason why I fell in love with Hololive.
      In short, I'd love to see more Faunas in Hololive ^^

    I think a lot of Holomems sometimes compare themselves to the best in Holo, to Sora, Azki, Suisei. But that's not how singing works for most people. This really gets at something that some fans don't seem to appreciate. Hololive becoming an idol company, something that started long ago, is at the heart of the whole project. And I get it. It feels a bit off to assume that everyone at Hololive is aiming to be an idol, and that it can take away from their time or motivation to stream. Aqua's creative differences and graduation is being hinted here as possibly because of this, or at least partly so. But past a certain point after that shift in direction, the company has made it clear that this is what every new talent is auditioning (often multiple times) and signing up for. And in the bigger scheme of things, the company's support towards training idol skills and holding lives, is what gives the talent a reason to break out of comfort zones and shine; to come together as a group, working towards a greater goal, and show us all that they can draw eyes and audiences outside of the usual bread-and-butter stream.

    noel is honestly one of my favorite singers in hololive. it always kind of drives me crazy when a talent starts singing and it's so different from their speaking voice, and full of falsetto and other "good singer" techniques that kind of lose their individuality, so I appreciate that Noel sounds like Noel.
    I think people's idea of singing is too simple. Noel's voice is unique to her and for that reason it's perfect for her. It's like Korone's perfect drawings. her recent song "wander" is one of my favorite holo originals for sure

      I hope so too. When I started watching Hololive, I described them to my friends as "as the most fun group of gamers ever". I don't care much about concerts, songs and idol stuff.
      I just don't understand why - with SO many talents - they don't prepare different career paths. They could have talents with strong focus on singing and concerts, a different group focused on streaming and gaming, then another group being a mixed bag and maybe even more. Not everyone needs to be the same kind of mix of streamer and idol. I think it would be perfectly fine to have some members who'd be just streamers and some that are just idols. I think it would be a lot heathier for them as well, as they could focus on the thing they actually want to do without being bothered about stuff they're less interested in.

    • @alfredong6850
      @alfredong6850 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@anbi7418 Maybe one way to answer this is to look from the investor's view. If I hear Yagoo reporting that the ROI from the streamer-only group is significantly lesser than that of the mainline (i.e. idol events, merchandizing), I will first question what these talents are doing, second I will question how this talent group is consistent with Yagoo's long-term vision of Cover's current talent development trajectory and the expansion of the company, and finally I will question what Yagoo will do to ensure that one this streamer-only group will generate returns and two if there will be future initiatives for these talents. If Im a investor I will see them a waste of investment, since they will not merch or do events, and will generate significantly less revenue than an actual group of idol vtubers (FYI in Cover's FY report, streaming SC covers only a third of total annual revenue).
      I believe Yagoo has no choice. Its the only way for Cover to expand, or "Disnify" by appealing to the masses, which means idol culture.

    • @anbi7418
      @anbi7418 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

      @@alfredong6850 In a recent interview Yagoo mentioned they have ~80 active talents. I just don't understand why they all have to do roughly the same things. Because if they are all simmilar (a mix of idols and gaming, moving further towards idols), I don't see the point of having that many members - they just dilute the fanbase. And if the number of talents is to stay the same, why not diversify? I'd argue diversification would sound good for investors and also open up more markets.
      Yagoo talks about expanding worldwide. I think he wants to bring the idol culture to every corner of the world but I just don't think it's going to happen. I'm from Poland, I observe the EU vtuber scene, I talk to EU vtuber fans. I don't think Cover will conquer Europe with just idols. Europeans who are into idol vtubers are already watching Hololive - there's nothing to gain here. Everyone else is watching vtubers with much less focus on music and much more focus on streaming. I don't want Hololive to make the infamous Walmart mistake, where Walmart brought their home culture to Europe without willing to change anything and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working.

      Going from variety streaming and content to professional production and idols. Meaning less random or wacky streams being automatically greenlit, cuz the 'brand' and sponsors need to be considered. Also more homework in terms of recording songs or voices for merch or sponsor collabs. And training for ever more highly produced concerts. What she's talking about is the reason why I'm slowly drifting away from Hololive. Hololive is feeling more and more like an actual idol group with every member constantly talking how little time they have, how many things they're constantly preparing for, recordings, meetings, concerts... Meanwhile, I just want a fun streamer group and there are many - often smaller - agencies and informal groups that offer just that.

      I feel ya, this is just a by-product of Holo going corpo, they must scale up their return generation via merchandising and paid events.
      Thing is Im always broke and will not pay unnecessarily, so entertainment like theirs to me stay within TH-cam, they will never have a penny from me. Which means Im also free to drift to whatever vtuber I wish without being tied down by sunk fallacy.
      I miss the old Hololive, being indie and spontaneous hooligans, now their 'yabai' jokes feels fictitious as in they intend to bait their audience, not because they accidentally do it and truly freak out. If you know what I mean, it feels like they manufactured those moments to lure clippers. Something feels off, its not the same as that crazy nuts Hololive in the past, in fact back then when Coco was still around. Now that shes gone, everything feel too manufactured, too safe, too 'pandering to the masses' type, not from the heart.
      This, and their talents now being committed to being actual idols instead of streamers.

Gura and Ame are barely streaming these days. Ina and Irys have averaged 2 streams a week over the last 2 months. Kronii has been having a hard time for a while (and honestly I'm slightly worried about her). Bae admitted openly that she can no longer keep up the intensity.
      The pattern I see is that Cover releases a new generation, that generation streams a lot initially, then they get a 3D debut and Cover starts to get them involved in concerts and recordings a lot - and this results in much fewer streams and especially collabs. The latest 2 EN generations stream a lot for now - but now that 3rd gen has had their 3D debuts I wonder if that's going to change - and I'm afraid the answer is "yes".
