I am about to have a job interview as an interpreter and I am so nervous, in less than two hours I'll go through the evaluation. Wish me luck and success...
Sometimes, words-or the way we use them-don't make perfect sense, but it's the whole phrase that has a meaning, an idea, that you can convey: that "and remember that's not only why you're sick" threw me off. I interpreted it as "y recuerde que esto no es solo porque esté enferma", which works with the general idea of what the doctor is recommending. These exercises make me realize that. It's the idea, not the words, that you interpret. Except for the hard facts like Rx names, terminology and symptoms.
Exactly! As interpreters we always interpret meaning. Try interpreting, "it’s raining cats and dogs" literally and you will have people running out to see the spectacle.
Hi, Thank you sooo much for the videos! I am learning a lot from different videos that you post up. I live in Los Angeles, CA. I speak English and Cantonese (Chinese). I would like to ask, if you can recommend an institution for me to complete the 40 hours course. Thanks!

07:44 Make sure it is mostly water, but if you must, you can complement with any liquid you wish. This includes sodas and juices like those that you mention. Remember that those drinks have a lot of sugar and they are not good for you. We have official script on Patreon for just 1 dollar of your support... www.patreon.com/Interpretyourworld
You are very welcome. Unfortunately, we do not have any experience in the legal field and do not feel comfortable in providing material for that. We do hope to provide material for the legal field in the future, though.
11:12 Yes, that’s correct and remember to keep on pushing those fluids. Staying well hydrated will keep your body fighting the infection much faster, and it might rid of your headache as well. Hi, I just found your videos and they are great, Im interested in becoming an interpreter, how do I start? What would be a first step, im ready for a change of career. Thanks
@@j.m.b5441 In the United States is is my understanding that you have to complete a 40hr interpreting course at any colleague. The next step is to like and practice all of our videos, lol. If you want to work as a medical interpreter or legal interpreter you will have to get certified, this means completing a course and a test. Keep in mind this is all for consecutive interpreting. If you want to go the simultanious interpretation you will have to get a degree. Hope that helps! Stay tuned to this channel since we have a series of videos to help aspiring interpreters.
@@Interpretyourworld thank you very much!! I'd like to start with consecutive interpreting then go from there, I've watched some of your videos, they could be a great help once I start school. Again, thank you!
@interpretyourworld thanks for the videos, they are quite useful. I live in Mexico and I´m learning and practicing so as to become an OTP interpreter. Do you know of any company looking for remote positions?
Glad you like them! There are several companies that hire mexican interpreters like AMC Health (Stratus), LSA and LLS. However, I believe only LLS accepts interpreters with no experience.
