Acha reminds me of the Jos Crisis in September 2001, we were taking refuge in Churches in Tanchol/Sot, Gyel. We were fed acha several times & I enjoyed it. Berom people are very welcoming and hospitable. Can't wait to visit Jos after more than a decade, the last time I was there.

With our generation's love for other processed food I see our traditions fading very quickly

I introduced acha to my Igbo neighbour in Jos and I can't get a breathing space again, mama will order for almost a bag of process acha after a few month, of recent she told she has introduced her friends and children abroad, she buys sometimes, package it in Ziploc bags and sends to them😊
I was very happy. Thank God for this culture.

Wow!!! That's awesome, acha is packed with a lot of nutrients. I'm sure mama is seeing the results in her body system that's why she introduced her friends and family to it.

Extremely interesting!!! Never heard of cooking with only pot ash, instead of salt! Sounds much healthier!

Is this 'potash' from the ground, potassium? Or is it from ashes cooked in a 🍲? How do you guys get this potash you use for seasoning/cooking? Thank you 😊

I’ve fallen in love with what you do on TH-cam, Miriam, I’ve decided to support you by promoting your channel.
    BUT:
CERTAINLY, I DIFFER with you over talking about “Berom women process[ing] ‘Acha (Fonio)’”!!! “Acha (Fonio)”, NOT CHUN??? Is Chun a Hausa and/or French native grain or ours??? Here you are, talking about your culture in borrowed language… (A form of “Mental Slavery”!
Who bewitched you, my sister??? I fell in love with what you do here because I see you as our ambassador! So what kind of ambassador are you to us??? (Maybe you don’t see yourself as an ambassador, FIRST of the Berom nation, then of Plateau State, then of Nigeria, then of Africa! But that’s who you SHOULD be, with your choice of Coverage Themes…)
I STRONGLY suggest you review your title to “Chun (Acha or Fonio)”! Let the world know we call our native grain “CHUN”!!
Richest blessings to you and yours and in all you do, especially here on TH-cam!
