Back in the day (80s) I was pretty much straight up rock and roll. But, the first time I heard this beautiful duet, it literally stopped me in my tracks. My music tastes have grown exponentially over the years, but this song still is one of my all time faves! Yah, I'm a romantic:)
One of the greatest "breakup" songs of our generation. Patti and Michael crushed this song, and it's great to see the younger set discovering this stuff and loving it the way you do.

I went the the Shrine when Yamaha was honoring Michael McDonald, Patti was there and they preformed this song together for the first time, it was incredible.
Fun fact. They recorded their parts separately on different coasts. They filmed the video separately. On two different coast. The first time they sang it together was at the Grammys. Where they won , btw.
Deservedly freaking so, as far as winning that Grammy. Two incredible vocalists, two powerhouse talents coming together to create something magical. This is just a fabulous duet!

Just when those lyrics and chorus was stirring up some major feels, then towards the end blew me away, with the two of them seeing from the bridge and cliff top in the distance, as if they were trying to reach each other from afar. There is just something about old school music. It just "hits" differently. They sing about love, and sing with feeling. I don't hear that in rap/hip-hop crap music of today.

This has got to be the “Best” Break up song ever! Check out the Production Values, California vs New York. The letter Patty crumbles up in NY shows up on Michaels table in CA. The same Boxes/Luggage in both places, hell they even have the same Cactus. The Voices are beyond compare, Patti is at her Best and Michael is in Top Notch form. I’m a Big Fan.
