While the functionality is almost the same as the Behringer X32 I like the way that the controls and LCD screen at the back of the Midas mixer are tilted up towards the engineer. The Behringer’s controls and LCD screen are flat, forcing you to lean over the mixer to see and adjust parameters using those controls and LCD screen.
I suspect, being that they are the same company, the X32 is basically a budget version of this. But I suspect if you take the top of , the electronics will be more or less the same, maybe better tolerances on the parts (although that might be my old engineer brain thinking, I dont even know if "tolerances" are even a consideration in the era of surface mount electronics, still Midas always made nice pre's so I'd be interested to see whats the difference between the two other than aesthetics)
Hello Midas! So you can add external hardware FX and compressors to this mixer via the aux inputs on the rear? and use as sends and or inserts? Also could you add a hardware buss compressor for example to a stereo drum buss group? Thanks!
Could you explain how I could use multiple pieces of hardware at the same time? I understand the function of choosing aux one for the channel you’re on I don’t understand how to route multiple pieces of gear
In what resolution does it record? Does it support 24 bit 96 khz? Does it support mackie control on all 24 faders and the pan pots? Does it support mackie machine control?
Hi Peter M32/M32-Live families can switch sample rate between 44,1k and 48k. Thus 96k is not possible. However 24bits are - as this is a word length that console uses. Regarding MCU - it is possible - however, it's best to check Your requirements with manual - M32 User Manual (website available) - p. 49
Hello, if i were to tap the output of the mixer signal to the DSLR camera for the purpose of live streaming, any idea if this can be done with this mixer? we have one in our sanctuary. tq.
+Anthony Bowe Many if not most users of the high end boxes have a connector panel on the rack, so that the stagebox connectors aren't the ones that get worn or broken over time. Such panels often have multipins such as Whirlwind W1 (12 pair) or W2 (20 pair) for more efficient connection of subsnakes.
I saw on the Midas website the M32 and the M32 Live. What is the difference or are they exactly the same? Is the USB recording function 32 or 40 separate channels or just a stereo channel?

I have the exact same model.input 2 mics and 1 phone as playback for minus one. im sending main output to my mac for recording. I have 2 ps15 speakers to use as monitor. during recording, I prefer only to listen to playback and I dont want to put on headphone.could you show me how can i have the option of 1)playback only 2)vocals only 3)playback and vocal using the speakers. thanks
Hi Kevin, I'm assuming the connection to the mac is via usb and it is this you are referring to as playback? If so, soloing this return channel will enable you to hear the playback via monitors. Be sure to link the monitors via the monitor/control room out sockets. Change monitor settings to AFL (After fade listen) if you want to hear the sound post EQ and fader. Isolating the vocals would have to be done via the DAW (recording software you are using). This would need to be setup so direct monitoring is enabled. Once this is done you can solo the vocal track on the computer - which will only hear the vocal through the playback return of the desk. A 3rd option is to route multiple channels out of the DAW to the desk. But that would require setup in the DAW. You could have separate channels for vocals and playback. Hope this helps
@@MidasOfficial my apologies, i should have been more detail. Input connecting to mixer include 2 mics, 1 mac for sound effects and a phone to play minus one. I am not using DAW because I'm doing live stream not recording. I am using OBS. I want to control all audio from mixer and master output sent to mac(the same mac for sound effect) through audio interface(USB connection). I am using 2 speakers as monitor and I wish to have these option on the speakers 1) mics, minus one and sound effects 2) minus one and sound effects only. appreciate your reply
@@KevinNeon If the speakers are used to simply cue and check the audio source is correct, this can be done using the solo bus. When pressed this will override what you hear with the connected monitors when solo is deselected (normally set to LR) - also bear in mind this will not affect the source to OBS. If the option (last) is de-selected in the monitor menu you can solo any number of the required channels you need (i.e. minus one, sfx and mics if necessary. In order to hear them in mix context, set channel and mixbus solo to AFL however I can't think of a solution to hear the selected channels post master output without destructing the send to OBS
Is there a way to do multi-track recording (old school) which would need tape returns? Many of my clients still like the analog recorder and I am trying to figure how I would set this up for multi-tracking and also a mix down. Thanks and great console. Hope there's a way to do this.....
#Midas .I am a user of this great board. Currently we've been trying to multi-track our service but truth is , we've downloaded the application from the midas page onto our Windows but it still would not see the mixer board on the PC . We've followed every single step and it didn't result into anything we wanted to see . So can you please help us with it ?
It is! You can use the built-in DN32-USB card and use Waves MultiRack Native or you can install our DN32-MADI card and use a Waves MGB/MGO MADI to Soundgrid interface. Many options.
JJDPRO MEDIAPRODUCTION yes that is what I am saying. I however didn't say you can't get a good sound out of it. The front end of an m32 over an x32 is a night and day difference though

Its same x32?
AZ Animation i got the x32, preamps, software and funtions are exactly the same, M32 has better hardware.
Can you use the other 8 faders for daw, so you can have a 24 fader daw controller? I think that's what alot of people wanna know.

m32 can connect with x32 rack using dl32 ?
are effects on the console latency free when recording or using live, or does it depend on your computer?

Hi, yes you can do this with the m32
the best option is to send a matrix mix (derived from the stereo bus). This can be routed from the rear xlr, jack or rca
Looking at the DL16 stagebox, wouldn't it make sense for the higher end stageboxes to have their connectors on the front as well?
