Hi Mel. I am really enjoying your daily vlogs this week. I'm a full time ebay seller myself in the US and I currently have about 20-25% of my store devoted to books. Books are one of the areas I've really shifted more emphasis towards in 2021. I think they are very overlooked by other resellers who deem them to be not too profitable. That is certainly not the case as we know. I also wanted to tell you that a few months ago I made a trip to the absolute middle of nowhere and bought over 3,000 Harlequin paperbacks (Mills & Boon to you). I'm selling them in lots of anywhere between 20 and 60 books and they're doing quite well. I broke even at 350 books. This will turn out to be one of the best buys I've ever made when all is said and done. I was actually thinking of you and your husband driving back with my truck stacked and loaded to the brim with boxes of books. You've often said that Mills & Boon books are a staple in your store and that was one of the factors that made me decide to go ahead and buy that massive amount of them. Please keep up the good work. Hi Brad, this is awesome! I totally agree with you, books are so underrated in the reselling community. There is plenty of great profits in them worldwide if someone is prepared to take the time to learn a new genre. Our prices my vary a little country to country but the method is the same and I suspect what sells well for me will also sell well for you! WOW 3000 mills and boon! I'm so jealous! LOL They honestly sell so well for me, the romance genre in general is very good sellers. I find the historical ones go really well in bundles. The more erotic you can find the books the more money they also seem to bring. Well done buying that haul and stepping outside of your comfort zone. I really appreciate you letting me know, keep me updated on the sales!
@@backfromburnout I must admit I'm surprised at how profitable it is and how much you sell. I've been binging your videos over the last couple of days out of curiosity - the getting kicked out of the book fair came up as a recommendation (and I like your bubbly positive attitude, so you're easy to watch). Maybe because I'm a regular op shopper (for personal use and for books that I take apart and turn into notebooks, so I'm checking out op shops nearly every week) I think why don't people buy them themselves from op shops and not ebay. But then I guess people don't have time to keep hunting for particular books (we've been on the hunt for beast quest 20 for ages and a few of the higher numbers), they may be regional, not have heaps of thrift shops near them.

The snowball candleholder could be a kosta boda. Look for a signature on it. Sometimes the signatures are hard to see on them. They are worth good money especially right before winter.

I enjoyed your video again on how you put bundles together. Here is one I used to do. Spencer Johnson's "Who Moved my Cheese" was very popular in the 2000's and is probably the book I sold more than any others. I found them often enough that I put bundles together for small businesses that included 10-15 of those books. They sold every time.

Great vlog series Mel. Will be interesting to see if you prefer videoing with the phone vs the gopro. Speak to hubby about putting casters on that sorting/prep table then you can wheel it out of the way when you are picking (if he boxes the legs onto a piece of plywood you gain a shelf under the table) :)
Well I've also photographed with the phone so it's easy for me. So far the gopro sounds tinny inside the shed and the colour is terrible so I think I need to play around with the settings or something. Whatever I am doing isn't right lol Yes! A trolley or table with wheels would be amazing!!! I might even see if they have something I can buy like that and if not I can give Aaron another handy man job!! Best idea ever!!
@@backfromburnout .. I was also going to suggest adding castors to your table legs. The shelf idea underneath could be very helpful. As far as your photography table, I think adding a shelf or two underneath would benefit your ergonomics by raising it up where you aren't having to bend over to get your photographs ❤ making for a much better experience

Hi Mel I'm a long time watching but don't comment often. I like these styles of vlogs. If u find doing them every day is time consuming even a once a week day in the like is fun to watch. I'm a book seller like u. Being in the UK my market is different to what will sell for u but I get some good tips and just enjoy seeing an other seller that have the same interests was me, which there isn't much of on TH-cam for book seller, so thank you for putting the time and effort to make these vlogs. Just started getting into some book sales but feeling a bit like a fish out of water I must say. I'm clothes and shoes usually. Not having much luck so far because I'm still learning what to look for. (with your help)
It can take some practice. If you can get some really cheap books or free books to start with you will learn quite a lot from that. I got so many free from Facebook in the beginning which helped me learn a lot.

No I'm making them daily and editing the same day this week (I've had a couple late nights lol). So the video I make today will go live tomorrow. I was trying to push myself this week to get out of my comfort zone, try a few new things before the new year. I normally spend a lot of time over thinking videos and ideas and then I end up procrastinating so hard I don't even make the video. By holding myself accountable this week I have to push past those fears. I hope you enjoy them :)

Some Build-A-Bears are really expensive, especially some of the Pokémon ones. I have a green "Zombear" I got from a car boot sale for £3, it's worth around £100 (I didn't realise when I bought it!) had a shock when I researched it later on!

You must have made heaps of profit from that hoarders haul, amazing! I remember the Dalziel & Pascoe series on the tv back in the day late 90s I think. You sold that koala bear plush yet? That circle light looks like decent quality compared to some cheap junk I've seen online. Where'd you get it etc? Does the circle light do the job and eliminate harsh shadows?
Oh I'm sorry if I've missed it. I just bought this ring light from eBay actually. It's a Embellir LED Ring Light With Stand 19" and cost about $109. I have two, one is behind my computer desk for when I'm streaming live but I would quite like a another one in the shed for one on each side of the photos. It's okay for books. I think for clothes I would like a second one though.

I find the Australia Post website very difficult to navigate and often feel like throwing myself off a bridge… To save a life today could you tell me how much it would be to send say a bundle of books over 2kg up to 5kg to and from anywhere in Australia? Or if you know of a direct link to this info on Aus Post? Thank you for this vid you have shared some wonderful tips it is so much appreciated xx
I use the flat rate mailers so it depends which size I use. The flat rate all have 5kg weight limits so you pay by the size you need. I’m also on the highest level of postage discounts with My Business Post which gives me discounts. This might help but the rates are slightly higher now after a price increase.

Question on the dvd's How do you know if a dvd does have a series???
Normally on the front it will tell you if it’s part of a series and you will often find the series next to each other in the thrift stores. You can make really great money on a series!

Probably only if it was an uncommon series. For common type books I probably wouldn’t.
