I liked the birds but, I found with the quality of the old recording I was missing words with every chirp. I usually listen in the background, FWIW. Less obtrusive sounds or slightly louder recording balance would probably be fine.
The birdsong was pleasant, and not distracting at all. I closed my eyes, and it was like sitting on a bench in a park beside Lewis, which was rather a lovely thought.
i like the bird noises but think there a little too loud in comparison to the much warmer and darker vocal, should blend into the background not pop out and make the words tough to hear. Also should labeled this is A.I. and not an actual recording of Lewis. Also a link to the source or reference from where this was originally written would be appreciated. Keep up the good work :D

I was reading Isaiah chapter 30 earlier and then I watched a part of a movie about Jacob's son Joseph how I read a chapter with this verse and then watch a movie that has a character from the Bible speak the same word just like that I have been having that happen a number of times in my life that made me think of what Jesus Christ said in the gospel according to Mark about signs following them that believe its the same thing with revelations that the Spirit of the Almighty God gives unto born again believers after they become washed in the blood that Christ shed on the cross. The Almighty truly does work in mysterious ways indeed to tell the truth about it, like the words of the young actor who played Charles Spurgeon in a movie about the preacher of that name strange how God takes the most unlikely of people and uses them for His purposes. Its the same thing when a believer after God pours His Spirit out on them contends for the faith and goes to preach the gospel that the early church preached and taught years before in the century Christ was crucified. What the Almighty God ordains He predestinates and brings it to pass He never breaks His promises whatsoever at all about it a promise is a promise and He keeps His promises.
Romans 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. Ephesians 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Revelation 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
The birds are rather annoying. C.S.Lewis has an accent probably rather alien to today's population however and bearing in mind that this was recorded in the 1950s in a very different post WWII environment, many aspects of society that he is pointing out are in fact repeating themselves today, perhaps they always do..
He says "not intellectuals at all, not cultured." That aptly applies to the idea of adding bird noises to his talk. I will try to find this lecture elsewhere without the added birds.

Bird song was distracting, because it was an American wood thrush, not an English bird species.
