You're right. It was the same bike that Stoner won the title with, and THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. The Ducati had an advantage with its bridgestones in 2007, and failed to adapt after it. Looks look at Stoner in 2010: 5 unforced error race crashes, 158pts behind in the standings, 4th for the second year on the trot.. and failing to beat 2 riders who had 7 races off with proper injuries.. Rossi wasn't impressive on the Ducati. But you make it seem like Stoner was WAY way better, he wasn't.......
