See this is where I disagree with most Cubs media. If Cubs are in 500m play for Soto, but they don’t want to play in the 600,700m range, then I think they are about winning and they are not cheap.
Agreed. To me Soto isn't worth more than around $555M splitting the difference between $500M-$600M. But all this NONSENSICAL talk (mostly by Ken Rosenthal) about how Soto WILL get $700M+ is just lunacy. Ohtani PITCHES! And does it very well + being modern-Babe Ruth. LA paid $700M because they knew they were getting a $450M hitter + $250M pitcher -- combined. Soto is just a hitter and a future DH. No way he gets $600M imho. I think he's gonna get at least $500M, if not a little less than $600M, but not more than that. People are overshooting his value.
People love spending other people’s money. They don’t care whether it’s a smart decision or not because they can just complain and cry about how the GM should be fired when it doesn’t work out
@@aduncaroo you and I are on a very small group of fans that like organization to spend wisely, look at Padres Phillies Mets, what spending have gotten them? A false optimism that they could beat Dodgers and Yankees by spending !
The one good thing about Cubs the last few years is their pitching department . Besides injuries, they turned so many mediocre pitchers into assets, either turned them into good trades or developed them to be good pitchers.
Here is what I think about spending and Cubs fans: 1. They spend and win: fans think they are good 2. They spend and still lose : fans think they are stupid! 3. They don’t spend and win: fans think they are genius 4. They don’t spend and lose: fans think they are cheap I reward is too great for not spending versus spending!
With respect to Tyler Zombro, am I off-base in thinking this hire plays into one of Rōki Sasaki's criteria of selecting a team that will help him improve his pitching skill? In other words, it should help in luring Sasaki to join the Cubs over the "other 29"
Canario has 1 option left and so far in the Dominican has a 1.033 OPS and is now healthy, Canario is really good when healthy . You absolutely cut Madrigal, Wisdom before Canario , You keep Him unless You get a very nice return . Vasquez You keep especially until Hoerner is healthy and especially if Hoerner is traded because He is the back up SS and has a GG level glove. Mastrobouni is still cheap and has options so He should stay .
I am in total agreement with you on Canario, Madrigal & Wisdom, but neither Vazquez nor Mastrobuoni can hit, so I am totally fine with them getting DFA'd. both Matt Shaw & Ben Cowles can play SS.
Why is Bellinger considered bad at 30 million. He was hurt twice last year. Two broken ribs ribs I don't get it. Trade for money to get another pitcher? You don't know if the Cubs prospects are ready 7:36
They released Brennon Davis? How disappointing wasn’t he at one point a top 1 or 2 prospect in the system. Just shows fans prospects are just that they are just projections. It’s sad. Also really like Albert I hope they sign him to a minor league deal.
Thanks Cpt Obvious, Kyle already signed with Angels so yeah I’m “guessing” he isn’t coming back…Wisdom and Madrigal need to put their houses up for sale, seeeee ya!
You guys are acting like the Cubs are bad. They blew 26 games. Let’s say they blew 20? They would have won 89 games. Let’s say Clase blew 20 games last year? The Tribe wins 72 games. Closing matters and health matters. Cody and Suzuki can BOTH play 150 games or more and both can hit 30 dingers and drive in 100. Those are your 3 and 4 hitters. Cody played on healed or semi healed broken ribs and fingers and don’t forget all the oblique problems with our DH. Health matters. If PCA can steal 50 bases he can steal 60 if he leads off. Happ hit 25 dingers and Busch can hit 25 as he already hit 21. Paredes hit 31 two years ago. Dansby hit 25 two years ago. There’s plenty of people that can hit, they just MUST hit. All of them must attack pitches in hitter’s counts, period. Enough of the check swing whining on a pitch that is one inch outside. Just hit a bullet down the line and quit crying. We need at least a starter and a closer. I’m not giving up major league talent for AAA talent. They are prospects. Like Matt Mervis. We don’t need Wisdom and Madrigal. Madrigal and Matro need to go and keep Velazquez on the 26 man. Hoping a trade with Bellinger happens and lets go young.

As much as I want to go to spring training, the team isn’t all that exciting. First 2 games are against the dodgers which would be cool to see
