Battletech: The New Explorer Corps - Part 1

- Today we get to know the captain in charge of this attempt to revitalize the defunct Explorer Corps in 3151. I need to be exceedingly clear that while I will respect all existing canon, this story is my own and it takes place within the sandbox created by FASA and later IP holders. I appreciate this opportunity to create something to boost Battletech on TH-cam.

A nice beginning to what I hope is a long and successful run.
Has me picturing the best parts of Star Trek TOS, Enterprise's scouting mission, placed in the Battletech universe. I couldn't ask for a better concept to bring badly needed LORE of the Periphery and beyond to life for the fans.

Nice. Thanks for the content. Beyond the clans, what do you think the weirdest thing that they stumble across? Xenomorphs, sand worms, catachan devils? Whilst I don’t see a place for intelligent aliens, I think there is plenty of room for exotic, and deadly fauna.
If we turn to what 'hard science' speculates about the potential for xeno (i.e. Alien) life among the worlds out there the possibilities are as endless as they would be weird. Every imaginable shape, size, color, and consistency and more then a few that would defy our ability to describe, I imagine.
Microbial life that could make Eden like worlds an uninhabitable hell; spores that force biological changes on the human mind, body, or soul. Exotic elements in the air, water, or earth that might have unique, maybe terrifying effects on metals, etc. Imagine something that warps the mind, turning people into something they are not, or inhaling 'safe air' only to discover later upon liftoff that one can no longer survive in 'normal air'. Or, perhaps the armor on the Dropships and Mechs start to rust or crystallize, doing so with such speed as to soon turn the armor to swiss cheese. Alien compounds that, when exposed to Mech coolant or Myomer causes them to explode or begin to burn.
And, of course, new finds; be it exotic biomeds, rare metals, and unique crystals that might lead to technological breakthroughs as yet to be discovered.
And let's not forget the 'once lost, now found': So much of the deep periphery lies untouched and unexplored by game lore, especially vast stretches' of space far away from Clan homespace. Lost worlds, filled with Star League era ruins; perhaps gone Mad Max in the truest sense of the word, or completely abandoned centuries ago. Lost research labs where dubious, if not deadly research had once been conducted and where the descendants of such research might still lurk. Worlds filled with human life, thriving yet cut off from space. Homes of bizarre cults; refugees of the early Succession Wars, and/or factions who are keen on 'not' being discovered and revealed to ancient foes, real or imagined.
As i said before, the Periphery; the source of a million stories, rumors, facts and fantasy. Awesome stuff.
There are definitely lots of interesting things to discover/re-discover.
Nice to see the Callaiope getting some love. Always liked that design.

Ooof, a Chrana. I remember reading about those in the MW2 lore on the Clans. That's quite possibly one of my worst nightmares.
It'll ruin your whole afternoon. Possibly even an evening.
Love the subject matter… kinda like the hunt for jardine. Not nearly enough of these kinds of stories in Battletech so keep it up 👍. You have a good voice and good cadence which is very important for lore channels. Also seems like you can write and produce video so you have all the tools to be one of the top channels doing Battletech lore. I listen to them all and I don’t say this to everyone.

@@MechanicalFrog I find exploration really interesting in this setting. It isn't touched upon much since the $$$ is mech combat but the battletech universe is rich enough I'd love to see more expansion. With tech advancing again it'd be nice to see a campaign set around a House's big new colonization effort
@@BigZaeon The Periphery hasn't gotten a ton of love, nor will it, so I'm going to play in the sandbox and see what I can do with it. :D

It's nice to see alien worlds without annoying bird people on them.
There will be no talking birds, or other sentient aliens. I promise.
@@richmcgee434 Did you not get the joke? There is a certain book (Far Country) in the Battletech universe that is quite infamous among the fan base for having stone age-level alien bird people on it. The only example of intelligent xenofauna in the whole setting.
@@richmcgee434 I'm going to respect the creators of the IP who went out of their way to resist the temptation to add sentient aliens to the game, and leave the galaxy to humans to argue over.

Game? It's all based on the Battletech tabletop IP.
Fan lore is always good, because fans know what fans want. Unlike the current corporate woke virtue signaling narrative that's everywhere nowadays.
I will do my best to be faithful to the existing lore and create something fun in the Battletech periphery sandbox.
@@MechanicalFrog things that all true fans don't do but Disney does (thank the gods they haven't yet bought Battletech IP); disrespect exciting lore (history & characters), screw up how technology is known to work, etc.
