    Great video! I love these machines, regret giving them away. They are the only knitting machines I know of that can tuck two stitches side by side, and the secret is in the sinker hook mechanism. No weights was my biggest joy in using them.

      Thank you! 🙂
      That is what I love about these machines too! You can tuck and short row to your hearts content and it will knit like a dream because of the sinker springs pushing the bunching down. ☺️

    Alex, you are an amazing teacher. I don't even own one of these machines but I was fascinated from beginning to end. Great video :-)

    It might be an old machine but it looks in good condition and knits beautifully.

    Thanks for this. I have the 4500 and it's really handy to have all this detail and explanation. I've struggled with how to attach my ribber.

    Thanks, that a great video, I have just acquired a 4500 and am struggling to get started. As soon as I've sorted the retaining bar on the main bed, I'll give the rib a go. Love the cast on technique and effect.

    The Knitmaster 4500 was my first ever machine. Never had the ribber though. Great video!

      The ribber is great when it works well. Sometimes it doesn’t always work properly. It depends a lot in the tension setting used and the yarn. I do love these machines though. Regret selling mine but because of it’s awkward shape I had no real place to store it easily.

    Thankyou for such a detailed video, i have a Matador Royal machine and finding anything that shows how to use it has been ridiculously hard. but my machine is similar to this so im going to give it a try.

      Let me know how you get on, if you get stuck I may be able to help you. I am not familiar with that machine but I am familiar with machine knitting, so should be able to get you away if you get stuck.

    Excellent video...thank you for that. You said to open the handle of the ribmaster (or make sure it's down); what function does the ribmaster do if the handle is closed (or up)?

    • @Thesweaterfactory
      @Thesweaterfactory  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there,
      If the handle it up or closed, it will slip. Hope this helps.

    Thank you for making this video! You make everything so clear. Could you please tell me if the ribmaster and the knitmaster came together in one box when new or was the ribmaster always purchased as a separate attachment?

    • @Thesweaterfactory
      @Thesweaterfactory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They may of sold it as a bundle, depending on where you bought it from but either way, they would of been packed in separate boxes. The Ribmaster was always an optional accessory.

    Brilliant video, thank you. Do you have a video on how to service please? I’ve just pulled one out of the loft and it needs a bit of tlc. Thanks

    hi! Thanks for the lovely video, excellent tutorial! I have the same machine (6500), but it came without a manual and I'm struggling to find one. Can you, please, do a quick tutorial on how to knit straight (without ribbing)?

    • @Thesweaterfactory
      @Thesweaterfactory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, sorry for the late response. I sold this machine unfortunately, long before your original message, so I won’t be able to do that.
      There are some other videos online that give advice on this. If you search Knitmaster 4500, the method of casting on is the same. The only real difference is the yarn ball holder. If you want to use the yarn holder you just put your ball inside, put the lid on and thread it up through the little tension piece, through the take up spring and finally, thread it through the metal yarn feeder on the carriage. The ball holder sits on a metal shaft, on the back of the carriage.
      You can however, still knit with the 6500 in the same way that you knit on the 4500.

    Hi Alex, I have a Knittax extended s, I am still having problems with the needles on my ribber. I have take it apart, cleaned everything, lubricated with petroleum, still the needles are so stiff. My fingers hurt when I move them up for the first row. Succeeding rows are always dropping stitches because I have to run the carriage fast across to get it moving...Do you have any suggestions to help with this problem?

    Do they sell needles in the UK?

  • @lynnpalacino2184

    Hi Alex, how do I get my ribber needles to run smoothly as yours do? My ribber needles are so tight. I can move the carriage across, but only If I move it quickly, otherwise it sticks. I oiled it to death, still not right.

      Maybe you have to take them off and clean them again . I did that.

    • @Thesweaterfactory
      @Thesweaterfactory  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They will just need a clean and a service, these machines are very old now, they need a good service before they will work like intended as most have not been used for decades.
