  • If you're here, you probably know about PS3 emulation of JBFolders (aka game.ps3 folders), but maybe there is a game that never appeared on physical media and was only available as a digital purchase for hard drive installation only.
    In this video, we'll teach you about these game files, show you how to install them into the emulator and how to get them as self-launching Steam entries complete with custom controls and artwork).
    Note: I cannot provide copyrighted game files nor can I provide the PS3 firmware files you'll need to make it work. Please do not ask.
    As usual, my videos are designed to both do AND teach - so they are a bit longer than a straight up tutorial.

    Super Stardust AGA on the Amiga looked great but it was really frustrating because asteroids took so many hits before they'd explode. The most fun part of that game was the tunnel segments. The PS3 one totally redeems it. Such a great time! This game alone is worth all the rigamarole of emulating the PS3.

      I know, right? I finally (on the Amiga version) figure out to get POWER UPs instead of "different guns" to mitigate that pain in the ASS multiple hits. That "predator" ship blew me AWAY the first time I saw it ...

    Had a ton of trouble getting the RAP file of a game going…took 6 or 7 tries but finally worked. Game launched with crazy gibberish in the menus, but when I quit and restarted, it worked fine.

    I have a problem maybe you can help with. I recently set up “NBA Jam: Legends on Fire Edition” (you made a video about this) and initially it was running fine. But the last couple of days it had suddenly started running way too fast. It runs like it’s in fast forward. I went into the GPU settings and changed the frame limiter from “Auto” to “60 FPS”, but this has made no difference. I’m not sure what could be causing this.

      @Darkuni  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Someone else was complaining about a recent change to the emulator that caused things to run too fast. I didn't get what they did to fix it but they did fix it so it's possible. I just don't know what it was.

    Thank you for the helpful videos. I've got everything running on steam deck how I like it, with one tiny exception (sort of)... In my library under non steam, I only have ES-DE & RSPC3. I love running everything on every emulator through ES-DE, and I can do so on everything except the pkg games for PS3... They show in the list of games since I left the .ps3 folder there, but obviously it doesn't launch. I can launch them directly from RPCS3 though in game mode library. Is there any way to get the pkg file to open in ES-DE at all? It would make it just that last bit of seamless structure I would like. Any help or ideas? Again, thanks for all the help you've given. Made a lot of things so much easier to figure out.

    Thanks for the helpful video.
    When my steam deck is docked (only docked) I can’t start my PS3 .pkg ROMS using RPCS3 in SteamOS. The message that appears states ‘Preloading cached shaders from disk.’ but no progress is ever made. I have three .pkg ROMS and all exhibit the same behavior.
    When in handheld mode the games load and play just fine.
    Any ideas how to fix? Maybe change settings in RPCS3? I’m using Valve’s OEM dock and purchased all the games legally by the way.

    • @Darkuni
      @Darkuni  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you say "docked" does that mean you're outputting to a TV? In Gaming Mode? How are you launching them? Direct from the emulator? From ES-DE? A Steam injection?
      I've used external displays from gaming mode (see my recent portable monitor review) running a PKG game in both gaming and desktop mode - via both a Steam injection and an ES-DE execution.
      I fear I'm missing some details to help you.

      @@Darkuni Thank you for the reply.
      By docked I mean placing the Steam Deck in the official Valve dock, connecting the Steam Deck and then outputting to the TV. In Gaming Mode. I'm attempting to launch the games from SteamOS (I believe that's Steam injection?).
      All three PKG games I try all get stuck on the ‘Preloading cached shaders from disk.’ screen. I can then undock the Steam Deck and the games continue and load. Any ideas?

      @@Darkuni THANKS again for your help. After I press PLAY (at the 10 second mark of your video), a game loading screen appears (I can see that a message that the Preloaders started loading and then it's 'stuck'. I can cancel out and undock the deck and it then continues. But not with it docked.
      Did you change any settings in RPCS3?
      To get the games to load I used RPCS3 to create a desktop shortcut, copied that shortcut in to the PS3 ROMs folder and then launch it from SteamOS in gaming mode.

      There is always Google ... oh and sites that claim to be about preservation but are really just one big piracy site.
