Binturongs are really quite a neat animal. Only animal I know of that can smell like hot buttered popcorn.
My domestic housecat Dublin smells like that when he's been in the sun for any length of time. It's a wonderful smell! Now I know that binturongs can smell like my cat. 😊
@BigCatRescue, binturongs are also known as bear cats, right? Or am I confusing them with a other creature?
The sand cat looks a lot like a domestic cat, pretty neat :) so great that there's a safe place for so many cats there!

My daughter will fall in love with these cats. She's 7… and she plans to be a vet to save cats.
It's so great to see the cats living happily. You can tell by the behaviours of these cats that they receive enough enrichment and are not bored. It's a huge difference to the monotonous back and force pacing of locked up tigers in cages.

Big Cat Rescue. I know this is a bit late but. If you have purebreds of endangered species, could you not restart the population but by bit, or would the environment they live in tamper with their natural instincts, keeping them from being released into the wild?

These babies are beautiful! Would be lovely if they had been able to be wild and free. But BCR gave them the best retirement home pawsible.

Also, do you have or have you ever had a black-footed wild cat? We had a cat that our vet believed was a relative/xbreed of one (she was found feral in the woods and taken in by our rural SPCA... deemed unadoptable and was up for destruction had we not taken her in. Apparently some were smuggled into the area and accidentally released). She was incredibly unique-looking, and amazingly loyal. She was with us about 16-17 years.
I just donated $500. That was my Christmas gift to get a new iPod but I decided to give it to a good cause. I love Big Cat Rescue!!

I love the Ocelots. They're such georgous creatures. And every time I see Nico she reminds me of a black cat called Nelson who turned up on our street and decided to move in with our neighbours.

Those Caracals are absolutely gorgeous. They all are but those ears in particular really caught my eye. Such elegance.
There are huge numbers of Bengals, which are not really domestic, that get dumped on shelters, Savannahs too. I don't know of any shelter that re-homes them; they are simply euthanized. the ocelots are breathtaking!
They are very adaptable to new climates, their fur coat won't grown in as thick as it would in the wild and they just simply adapt to life in Florida. They sleep during the hottest part of the day then become more active morning/evening/night :)
The ocelot sounds like a zombie with bronchitis. And I love the names of the binturongs. Bean, Banjo, and Thing are all fun, quirky names that seem to fit the species.
Wow, I didn't know Geoffroy cats could be black. There was a Geoffroy cat at the National Zoo once upon a time (not sure if they still have one), and it was spotted. They are just too adorable, though.

Many savannah cats do not make good pets because they often retain much of their wild instincts. Diablo had been abandoned and was found in a garage, it was obvious that she would not make a suitable pet, so we spared her life and provided her with a permanent home at the sanctuary.
I love the bintruongs! I wish some of these small cats could be kept as pets-but it is wrong to keep wild animals as pets. maybe house cats could be bred to look like the sand cats who are so cute!
doreen weix a properly groomed fluffy cat could do, i suppose. I have a British Shorthair who kinda has a face like one, they have very round faces.

Sand cats are native to the middle east. Once and a while a sand cat will adopt someone in an almost domestication. They are smaller than standard house cats, which makes them even more cute.
It's a small, mottled gray & black viverrid weighing 4-11 lb. It has a body length of about 21" with a 19" long tail. Its long, stocky body is covered with coarse, shaggy hair that is usually greyish in color. There is a white mask across the forehead, a small white patch under each eye, a white spot on each side of the nostrils, and a narrow dark line between the eyes. The muzzle, ears, lower legs, and distal half of the tail are black, with three rows of black markings on the body.

There's a family of palm civets living on the ceiling of my house. They don't trouble us much, except when the babies (or maybe the parents) scamper around at night because of the noise. Sometimes, the adults would release its musk when it passes by my window, it'd smell like a cake baking for first few seconds (very nice) but then it will intensify (not nice anymore) and will linger around for an hour or so...phewwww~

This is true. My curiosity was simply peaking as I saw that the tree's are taller than the fences; Of the hundred+ cats in which live there, there must be at least one overly adventurous little squirt in there somewhere. Haha:)

the great majority of them are spotted- but in rare cases (like leopards) they can come with the black fur. The cool thing is that underneath the black looking fur, they still have spots- they're just not as noticeable.

And it was pretty cool to see some of the other cats that used to be there. It makes me sad though, to think they're no longer there. But I'll bet they were grateful for you to be there for them, to give them a home and love.

Amur cat is known as Salc in Korean, it's rare cat specie in Korean peninsula. They might be tiny but very ferocious & excellent hunters. They usually come down to Korean farm villages during winter in search of easy food, they steals chickens from farm and coz they're protected they can not be hunted down.

They're all so pretty. As much as I'd love to pet them all, I know it's a very bad idea. I suppose it can just be one of those unfulfilled wishes, right?
Time to preserve rain forests and other animal habitats plus stop poachers, trappers, and others who are wiping out animals along with fish and other sea animals. Its a shame to know future people will look down on this era knowing we had the power and intelligence to save other animals and habitats but little to nothing was done to help preserve nature and water/eco systems. Truly sad to see mans greed and overpopulation overwhelm every other living thing and being so wasteful.
