Bachelor trick: Saucepans (not nonstick or tin coated copper) heated for pressing, use an intermediate pressing cloth. Water on the pressing cloth if steam is needed.
I could see someone wearing this as an outer layer, these days, over a tailored white shirt. So chic. Wish I had one, but I can't sew. Have to live vicariously!
Im honestly surprised! With how much ive heard that chain stitch was weak, I never imagined a corset (even with less tightness) would stay together! I had an idea in my head that chainstitch machines were purely for basting, oh how silly i was.
See the YT Tim Hunkin channel The Secret Life of Sewing Machines video to see why chainstitch was the first try at creating a sewing machine. It is also a good guide to how they work and why.
I have always installed buckles with the fabric attached to the center bar. You have to make a small hole for the prong to go thru but the buckle doesn't go all crooked when tension is applied. The pattern matching was wonderful. I love the sewing machine.
I was just checking the comments to see if anyone else caught that, we do it that way in armouring too, that way even a too-big buckle mostly stays straight.
This corset turned out so pretty! I absolutely love your choice of wool. This could definitely be modern outerwear. I have really come to dislike modern swimwear in recent years, so I'll be very interested to hear your take on how the historical swim outfit performed.
It seems as if it would be a good design for a historybounding corset! Easy to put on, lightly boned, but still supportive... I feel like i need to make one myself now for everyday wear :)
I and my mom always love your videos .❤💓💖My mother also has a sewing machine just like you. I like it.👍👌My mom was surprised when she saw your sewing machine.😂😂😂😂 I like it also.💖💖💖💖
Absolutely love that machine!! This corset looks so comfy and easy to put on and you make it look so easy to assemble ! Your videos are well done and I always enjoy watching them.... also loved the choice of fabric ! Thank you for all your hard work!
This idea is going on the to-do list, that looks comfy AND easy to get into/out of, like the zippered half-corset sports bra replacement I'm currently mocking up. And so frigging cute!! And masking taping down your boning is pure genius. Another poster commented about the buckle but I thought I'd reiterate in case you missed it, if you punch a slot in the fabric for the prong and connect to the centre bar, even an oversized buckle should stay straight AND you'll be able to tuck the end through the other side of the frame.
FYI in a pinch, if you take a flat bottomed cup fill it 1/4 to 1/2 full of water and microwave the crap out of it you will be able to handle the top of the glass and the bottom of the glass will be hot enough to press seams. You will have to microwave it again between seams it doesn't hold the heat extremely long but it does work. So does a curling iron if you happen to have one of them.
That is possibly the cutest corset I have ever seen. It's so lovely! It never occured to me that you can make a corset out of wool. Now I need one :D. With that tartan pattern it really looks office ready nevermind swimming hah.
I didn't see your sewing machine properly at first, so when you picked it up with one hand I felt like such a wimp, my machine weighs a ton 😂 Then I saw how small and compact it was and it made sense. It's so cute. I think this can be worn like a normal corset in warmer climates, or those who are still new to corsetry since it's a lot softer and easier to put on than normal laced ones.
That is?? Amazing????? I had never heard of bathing corsets, for one thing, so that's really cool. Also it looks like it would be super comfortable to wear just as a variation on normal corset design!
I love this, the back is sooo gorgeous!! And I've been looking for a HB corset for so long, and your instructions were so clear, that this does not seem to be THAT intimidating to do!
if you're without an iron, a hair straightener or possibly a curling iron might work! I use a hair straightener for my tiny doll sewing and it works great
that looks so pretty 😍 I'd love to make one, I'd love to wear something like this for swimming, it looks so much more comfortable than the normal bikini tops
Just a thought maybe next time get a mini iron that you can take with you I have one that I keep in my studio and I use it for travel, I just use an eye dropper to take out the water if I add too much in it.
Am I late in saying the buckle is on wrong? The pin should go through the fabric and then the fabric sewn around the centre bar. Someone else has already mentioned this right? Otherwise it's SOOOOO cute 😊😊
I definitely want one of these at some point! I wonder if having a corset would prevent the water from trying to force a curve into my lower back? (which is fused, and so makes swimming stomach down very uncomfortable). Which means I haven’t been able to properly swim since I had it fused. I can stand upright in water, but no proper swimming. And then there’s the lack of support that hits me like a brick when getting out of the water. I definitely think that a swimming corset is the way to go, but it will have to wait until I finish some other projects first.
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial! I just purchased your pattern and am getting ready to construct. Can you tell me what type of boning you used and where you purchased it? Also, I would like to make this out of 100% cotton denim fabric lined with cotton. Do you think this would be an issue or is it important to use wool? Thank you again!
I wonder how that style of fastening would work as an every day corset for 19th century stuff. It would certainly make getting dressed easier, especially for anyone who has shoulder troubles that make reaching behind difficult.
Your brother lives near a beach, welcomes a sister to visit, surfs, and Has No Iron. Your brother is a Unicorn!!!!! (I'm an old lady, so I am totally not creeping on your brother, okay?) But, girl. Do all the girls want to meet the brother? lol The corset is really charming and I like it a lot.
How difficult was it to make? It seems like it was relativly easy, but I could be way of base in that assessment. I am not very experienced at sewing and I can't seem to wrap my brain around commercial patterns, so I am teaching myself how to draft at the same time. But I really do want to get into corsetry. This looks like it could be a manageble project. Also, that sewing machine is the cutest thing ever.
That's a center bar buckle. You should have made a reinforced slit in the fabric of the buckle end of the belt for the tongue of the buckle, wrapped the fabric around the center bar (hence the name), and sewn it down. Then it would have laid flat and level and the two outer bars would have kept the end of the belt in place. It's probably not too late to fix if you want to.
Quick question, does a wrap corset support your back as much as a regular corset? I’ve done a mock up for an 1890s corset and wow I loved the support it gives my back, but if I can get away with not doing about 24 grommets and still have back support I’m in.
Cotton flannel and wool sounds insanely hot for a swimming corset, unless of course you live in the far Northeast where the dog days of summer might hit 95° on an odd day
I wonder if anyone ever used bathing corsets in lieu of regular corsets because they're comfortable and easy to put on. like wearing a sports bra today
Did I attach my buckle incorrectly? Yes...yes, I did...😅
Live and learn! 😂
😊😊😊😁😁😁
December is a fine time to discuss beachy things, for those of us from the southern hemisphere,
Bachelor trick: Saucepans (not nonstick or tin coated copper) heated for pressing, use an intermediate pressing cloth. Water on the pressing cloth if steam is needed.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Brilliant!!!
Where were you when I was making my first pair of stays?
Nifty

"I thought it would be fun to pattern match" -famous last words
That did make me chuckle.
Truth
They never lived to tell the tale. 😔
The craziest thing about a swimwear corset video is that your brother doesn't own an iron 😂
OK, that corset is so cute I want one to wear around for non-swimming. Love how it closes!
Too true. I'd like to get the pattern for it - it looks a lot more comfortable than my current Victorian corset.
R u doing today beautiful and I don't know what a bitcoin wallet and I don't know what a bitcoin wallet andr
SAAAAAAAAAAAAME
@@catherineeleazar7454 ?????
I love the way that interlaces round the back, that looks really comfy and easy to put on! :D
It sure does.
Now we see that Bella Mae's charm is literally enough to repel sharks.
Loving how it saddles around and closes.
I could see someone wearing this as an outer layer, these days, over a tailored white shirt. So chic. Wish I had one, but I can't sew. Have to live vicariously!
The sewing machine is so cute 😍
Yes I wasn’t ready for it, I would have made a big deal announcing it
Im honestly surprised! With how much ive heard that chain stitch was weak, I never imagined a corset (even with less tightness) would stay together! I had an idea in my head that chainstitch machines were purely for basting, oh how silly i was.
Haha! Nope, that's how all sewing machines use to be! Just remember to lock the thread and it's good!
See the YT Tim Hunkin channel The Secret Life of Sewing Machines video to see why chainstitch was the first try at creating a sewing machine. It is also a good guide to how they work and why.
That is the coolest sewing machine I have ever seen

Your vintage hand crank machine is gorgeous.
I'm making this now with the pattern you offer on your site! Lovely to see the construction of it on video 😊
It seems as if it would be a good design for a historybounding corset! Easy to put on, lightly boned, but still supportive... I feel like i need to make one myself now for everyday wear :)
I and my mom always love your videos .❤💓💖My mother also has a sewing machine just like you. I like it.👍👌My mom was surprised when she saw your sewing machine.😂😂😂😂 I like it also.💖💖💖💖
You're one of the people that I just automatically thumbs up your video because I know I'm going to love it 💙
Glad to see your swimming wasn’t violent! The corset turned out fab!
Oh my gosh! Using masking tape for the boning during the mock up is genius, I’ll be using that!
oh my gosh, that thing looks so darned comfy! And cute to boot!
wow, who would have thunk, a bathing corset? i love the detail of the construction is amazing
Absolutely love that machine!! This corset looks so comfy and easy to put on and you make it look so easy to assemble ! Your videos are well done and I always enjoy watching them.... also loved the choice of fabric ! Thank you for all your hard work!

Been loving all this alt corset content from CosTube; sport corsets, lounge corsets, swim corsets, I want them all
Thats like such a cute corset. With the closure, that belt thing. Its like a relaxed corset 😂
This is a really attractive corset on its own merit! And the bathing shots are adorable....👍🏽🤗😻
I'm coveting your Willcox & Gibbs so much right now.
It's so pretty you could wear it even if you don't plan to swim.
Hi, it looks like a useful corset for disabled people,
Whoa.. Never knew that this kind of corset exist... I might make one for daily use
The corset is really cute
Why do I suddenly need a swimming corset? ☺️🥰
wow you’re really going off with the videos lately Bella nice work 🤩
Turned uot very cool! That fabric is so so so pretty

Love, love, love this. I must make one asap, to wear daily as my back is always painful. All that rigorous walking I am doing.
I didn't see your sewing machine properly at first, so when you picked it up with one hand I felt like such a wimp, my machine weighs a ton 😂

SQUEE!! So darned CUTE!
I was just researching this the other day!! Thank you
That looks so comfortable. Great choices of fabrics, and perfect execution. I'm impressed.
Very sweet of course it looks great on you!!
I was looking at this pattern on your website and thought, i hope she does a video on this eventually. And here it is.
You have gave me courage to try my first corset!
Such a cute corset!
this is the cutest thing ever! well done, you!
I love that sewing machine sooo much 💕 That corset would be great for my backache!
GAH! That swimsuit is so cute! Looking forward to that one. Love how the corset turned out! It would be super cute on its own, too.
This makes a really cute top
That is?? Amazing????? I had never heard of bathing corsets, for one thing, so that's really cool. Also it looks like it would be super comfortable to wear just as a variation on normal corset design!
Wow this is lovely and so cute! I'm definitely seeing some everyday wardrobe potential i this design!!
Love the look of the corset!! And it’s sooo cute!!!
I am your biggest fan of yours
You are SO talented!
I love this, the back is sooo gorgeous!! And I've been looking for a HB corset for so long, and your instructions were so clear, that this does not seem to be THAT intimidating to do!
if you're without an iron, a hair straightener or possibly a curling iron might work! I use a hair straightener for my tiny doll sewing and it works great
Thank you for the video. I will be sewing up a bathing corset, but there isn’t fabric information in the pattern. This helped clear it up for me.
In this video this corset is different then other ones. It's great. You weard this in that swimming video!!!!!!😲😲😲 great 😀😁
That's cute. Add a few more things to it, a top cup and some bottoms and that could be a the actual swim suit.
Lovely video as always and a very fun make. Your machine is amazing I’m jealous! Love this and am looking forward to seeing the bathing costume.
Omg I love this so much.
Hot spoon 🥄 is a great iron replacement. Boiling water stir then press.
It’s darling! Such a good fit, too.
It really looks comfortable! I love the back.
Interesting little project!
How funny, I was just looking at your pattern website yesterday and saw this. Didn’t bat an eye seeing on TH-cam then I realized, oh, new!
I'm going to try this with some swimwear-based fabric
I have been waiting for this soo long resisting the urge to pester you about it 😆
its great I'll probably buy the pattern as soon as I have the fabric
I love this!
It looks amazing ❤️
This is amazing! 💖
that looks so pretty 😍 I'd love to make one, I'd love to wear something like this for swimming, it looks so much more comfortable than the normal bikini tops
that is so stylish
Looks like fun
Just a thought maybe next time get a mini iron that you can take with you I have one that I keep in my studio and I use it for travel, I just use an eye dropper to take out the water if I add too much in it.
I love your tutorials. Please you can make more video about the process in adobe Illutrator, thanks.
A fun thing would be a dress or a wrap-around that had the same type of closure
I would love if u did a video on how to draft on a computer!
Am I late in saying the buckle is on wrong? The pin should go through the fabric and then the fabric sewn around the centre bar.

Lovely!! That looks like it could be an everyday wear corset. How comfortable was it?
I do open water swimming. . The battle to get wet lucre stuff off in a public place without immodest is real. . Maybe a wrap around is the way to go?
Your brother lives near a beach, welcomes a sister to visit, surfs, and Has No Iron. Your brother is a Unicorn!!!!! (I'm an old lady, so I am totally not creeping on your brother, okay?) But, girl. Do all the girls want to meet the brother? lol The corset is really charming and I like it a lot.
I'VE BEEN WANTING TO MAKE ONE KF THESE BUT I'M TRASH AT PATTERN DRAFTING THANK YOU

You are absolutely right. I had to scroll down very far to find a comment about the 'unconventional' attachment of the buckle.

This reminds me of a modern back brace without the elastic and velcro lol.
