This ambassador is too ignorant to discuss these issues. He is so ridiculous that he hasn't figured out that China has thought of food and energy security. Believe it or not, China is "food secure" and has been since the early 2000s. They produce enough food to feed their population, but being plugged into the global economy, they import a lot of food and export food as well. Additionally, while China is the world leader in green energy, they have built enough coal-fired power plants that they can power their economy with domestic coal should they ever need to.
Why would the ambassador lie like that? To convince the American people and their allies that they can easily defeat China in a war; essentially, lying them into war, just as they did in Iraq.

Dean Acheson, the U.S. Secretary of State under President Harry S. Truman, delivered a significant speech on January 12, 1950, before the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. In this speech, Acheson outlined the U.S. policy toward Asia, specifically delineating the “defense perimeter” concept. This speech is often cited in discussions about the Korean War and U.S. Cold War strategy in Asia.
In his address, Acheson described the U.S. defense perimeter in the Pacific, which included the Aleutians, Japan, the Ryukyus, and the Philippines. Crucially, he did not include Korea or Taiwan within this perimeter. The U.S. and its allies dropped more bombs on Korea than they did during the entire Pacific Theater in World War II. Specifically, approximately 635,000 tons of bombs were dropped on Korea, predominantly on North Korea, compared to 503,000 tons dropped in the Pacific Theater during World War II .
This intense bombing campaign resulted in almost unparalleled destruction. By the end of the Korean War, the U.S. Air Force had difficulty finding targets, as most significant infrastructure had already been destroyed. The devastation was so extensive that many North Korean cities were left in ruins, with a significant proportion of the population either killed or displaced .
During the Korean War in the 1950s, the U.S. faced significant challenges against Chinese forces, resulting in a stalemate and the establishment of the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).
In the Vietnam War, the U.S. again struggled against forces supported by China and ultimately withdrew without achieving its objectives.
However China won and North Korea exists as a nuclear power today. America totally dropped the ball.
Today, China is a global industrial and economic powerhouse, making it a much more formidable opponent. China’s economic influence extends globally, including being the largest trading partner for many of America’s allies.
Rahm Emanuel has served in various political roles, including as Mayor of Chicago, Chief of Staff for President Obama, and now as U.S. Ambassador to Japan.
His tenure as Mayor of Chicago and his role in the “Pivot to Asia” policy under the Obama administration have been subjects of criticism, leading to questions about his ability to navigate the complex dynamics of the Indo-Pacific region effectively.
What a naive and irrelevant comment by him regarding China. Why he is the Ambassador to Japan during such a pivotal era is beyond belief except if he was given a sinecure by Biden.

I dunno if it's arrogance or stupidity here but Rahm Emanuel is taking credit for a US-Japan-Korea 'trilateral' completely disregarding the reality that the US literally has a military occupation ongoing in both of those countries for more than 70 years... neither of them are even fully sovereign countries in control of their own destinies because the US govt have been active on their soil and in their politics this whole time.. and even then it's not as smooth sailing as he's making out, Korea are the losers in this arrangement (and I think they know it), all these countries compete in industry and electronics, and the US is squeezing Korea the most out of the two by forcing them to pull back investment and activities in China - relations these days between Korea and Japan are favourable but the things Japan did to Korea and China throughout history and the 20th century will never really be forgotten (not should it)

Chinese property sector, which accounts for 30% of GDP, is crashing.
    - Exports and imports, accounting for 37% GDP, are down.
    - Foreign investment (FDI) is falling over 90%, lowest in 3 decades.
    - Foreign visitors are down 96% compared to the pre-pandemic level in 2019.
    - Consumer prices are experiencing deflation.
    - Youth unemployment hits over 21%, a record.
    - Its fast-shrinking workforce is 10 years older than neighboring countries.
*Still, China keeps reporting outrageous GDP numbers.* Lol
Where does the growth come from?

Talking about falsifying records, in 2023, real China's 🇨🇳 economy shrank -3.5% as opposed to 5.2% expansion as officially announced.
    - So this year, they will just publish a 5% growth regardless of their economy.

Now India pretend to have same economic size with a workforce of 500 million. In 2007, here were no slums in China, every household have toilets and connected to sewage system. Modi is cooking his books

That is the importance for good relations ...honesty and fair play. Talking from the country rated the least corrupt nation in the world and among the 10 richest. Democracy is about institutions and internal coherence and rule of law. Politicians mean less as you will on average stay within some limits and also can adjust without political and national turmoil....always an amount of moderation and checks and balances that does not exist in authoritarian systems in a permanent power struggle.
