Ok for clarification of How Project Moon acquired Mili to sing for the themes of Bosses, it goes way back to the launch of LoR where one fan-made creation made an Fan animation of Lob Corp with Mili song which is called world.execute(me);. Ah yes, that Fanmade MV for Mili music, that one is the first Fanmade MV of Mili that I found and instantly become my most favorite one Because I watch it after I already finish L Corp (true end) and I see the lyrics is so much spot on for L Corp especially Angela (because only her who ain't got love and World.Execute(me) is basically story about an AI fall in love with the creator but can't reach it "The Creator") Also I'm surprise that that MV is the one that leading PJM to gain the best BGM for their games Ain't this funny that someday, someone create a vid called "How a fanmade MV make 2 source of fanmade MV got connected" and then we got this MV in the middle of vid for a certain example
My favourite part about their collab is the sheer solidarity of it all. When the PMoon feminist controversy was happening, project Mili tweeted something that basically says "they made a mistake, but we're still going to support them because we are bros. You dont just abandon your bro because they made a mistake once." Truly gigachads. That moment really solidified my respect and love for Mili. Where other bands would likely stop collaborating due to fear or pressure surrounding the controversy, Mili weathered the storm with PMoon.
Limbus company is a sequel to Library of Ruina, the whole point of the game is 12 sinners(the characters on the bus) and their manager Dante whos a clockhead driving around collecting golden boughs, its really fun to play!
6:58 - 7:05 lobotomy corporation, library of Ruina, and Limbus company are all in the same universe and world, so yes they are related in the sence that its the same world.
So for non-spoiler context, the song is The Hero's Journey. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hero%27s_journey The Singer has an Idol and follow them, to realize that everything is fake. The part that made you confused is "The Challenge" where the singer's faith is being tested, driving them insane. For analysis of the lyrics, I already made one on the Carthasis channel, so I just pasted these here: The song is composed around this "Hero's Journey" narration. The first part is 'The call to journey', where everything is bright and shine. Then comes 'The Challenge', where the singer realizes everything is a lie (Hills are painted, Birdies are robotic, Roses are made of clay). The climax is at 'The Revelation', where the singer has to face the idol and see the idol fail and leave them alone. This part swings differently because you can see 'The Challenge' puts the singer to their utmost limit and drives them to insanity, which is emphasized by the part: "Just let me be your fan I wanna be your fan I'm still your biggest fan" Let me -> wanna be -> I am still (the biggest). Wonderful choice of words here to show the singer's intensity. One thing that you should note is that the song use repetition a lot (Excitement that I feel, Heroes cannot be real), and the parts that affect the singer most have their repetition broken (I wasn't who I am, I don't know who I am), so in this part, the singer is driven to insanity. The next part is "The Transformation", where the singer uses their own hopes and dreams to follow their idol. The use of words showing their childishness is analyzed by you really well. However, in "The Atonement", where the Hero has to face their ultimate enemy to finish their journey, and Mili also points out who that enemy is, it's the Idol. "Gonna prove my version of justice Is more just than yours Uno Remaining on this stage, I am the only one" Why has has the Idol become the singer's enemy? After finding out everything is a lie, even if the idol doesn't become evil, it also becomes something else, and in order for the singer to challenge the status quo or fate (why is it that some were given the role of villain), they need to beat the gatekeeper: the idol. And with that, comes the vainglorious but then sad part. "I am my biggest fan I am my biggest fan I am my enemy and my friend" The singer now become their own image of the idol they always want to be. But at what cost? The death of their "Hero". Now, for the singer, they hate themselves for killing their Idol (the enemy) but at the same time, they have become what they always want to be (the friend). The story is now wrapped up with an open ending instead of a good ending.
For me, the line "i am my enemy and my friend" more symbolizes how the singer now realizes that their own fear, anxiety, and despair is their biggest enemy, yet at the same time, their courage, confidence, and hope is their biggest ally in overcoming their enemy. They themselves are the one holding them back, but they are also the one who can overcome those things.
10:11 funnily enough the moral of the storyline this song is used for is exactly the opposite, basically being "Just because the story assigned you the role of a villain it doesn't mean you can't choose your own adventure and write your own story"
Wow I had made the connection between the newest chapter’s plot and Ruina being structurally similar, but it’s pretty cool that Mili had woven in some overlapping musical elements between the songs that play during it and Love Town. Both have “familial love” and “lunacy of not being able to escape” as key themes and while the songs when we experience them in-game feels so different when broken down it’s cool to see that they were made with a lot more intention behind it~ Thanks for the video was very enlightening to hear things broken down
The parallels to From a Place of Love could definitely be intentional. Without getting too heavily into spoiler territory, the story of Canto 7 is probably the closest we've gotten to the premise of Love Town in a while, especially given the Intervallo before it. Also, while the lyrics can be interpreted very directly, there are at least like 4 or 5 double entendres that smack you in the face when you know the context. Honestly probably my favorite Mili song from Limbus, though the scene it plays during may have me incredibly biased.
7:02 technically yes, they are from the same universe. In fact, all project moon games do. They all take place in something called "The city". From what I know, it's a huge dystopian city (south Korea overworking style dystopia) where heroism goes to die. It's generally flocked at times and hits you in the feels, yet it still somehow manages to not be grimdark and tends to give positive messages. Legitimately interesting story worth experiencing in my opinion.
The lyrics follow the story of a character who starts their life out idolizing a figure above them and following on their journey, then the idol figure loses their spark (and this brings the follower down in turn), there's a frantic clash of ideals and wills (that very uptempo bridge-interlude in section 3), and in the end the follower realizes they're best off following *themselves*, going on their own journey without hinging their expectations on others. "Successful or not, I am who I am: I am MY biggest fan, I am my biggest fan..."
I am going to be honest, when I first found your chanel and saw how long your analysis are, I wasn't convinced. But now that I am actually watching your videos, god damn, they feel short! Your analysis are amazing and really easy to understand. Keep up the good work!
A fun little fact about the last part of the song, given the chivalrous nature of the song and the galloping lines, in game when the song reaches its peak there's a QTE where you have to spam space, making it sound like your galloping with the character
short vague answer for song's context: reimagining of Don Quixote (does takes inspiration from the movie Man of La Mancha as don's weapon is named "SUEÑO IMPOSIBLE" which is Spanish that translate to "impossible dream" and a name of a song from the movie) all of Project Moon games (and comics) are connected. I think project moon and Mili first met though a fan making a Lobotomy Corporation music video with the song world.execute(me). (I could be wrong about that though)
Are you familiar with Don Quixote? The story of a guy trying to live out his delusions of heroism despite the pushback of those around him. Given this context, and the knowledge that Mili likes to be very on the nose in their lyrics, you should be able to figure out the story behind the song.
When you combine the song lyrics with the actual characters name it fits together like the perfect 2 piece puzzle honestly, don't even have to play the game to practically understand it at that point I feel
Perhaps the reason this is so similar to From A Place of Love is that both that incident and this song's connected plot were caused by Bloodfiends, PM's version of vampires. I'm thinking you may have discovered Mili's motif for the results of Bloodfiends
TH-cam recommendations coming through showing me this video as this is one of if not the best analysis(es?) of Mili’s work, I would love to see you do reactions to the rest of their work in library of ruina and limbus company, in particular the limbus tracks as I know them better and I also feel they are better. But yeah great video hope to see more
i really love or what i would see it as interesting is that from the start to the end, the song goes from "fun" to "dark" to "grand" and stays grand in the end
Hero is the song for the current chapter of the game, it gets released days after the chapter is out, to give people time to do the story, each Mili Song for Limbus is a boss Song and all are good
Great video! You're definitely right that there are some big composition similarities here to other Mili works, which is a lot of fun to pick up on. To note, unlike Ruina, Limbus' boss songs are structured in a way where sections of the fights match up with sections of the song, so you're right that the 'radio' versions don't have standard song structure, since they're not normally 'heard' without sections looping.
a big part of the song is that its not really as mocking as most mili songs. they tend to have a bit of a sardonic edge making fun of the story going on, but Hero is legitimately a song about triumph. the similarities to Love Town’s song are likely intentional to emphasize this. it shares many themes but in this case, it follows someone genuinely triumphing following their dreams
if you're wondering why Mili takes so many from a Place of Love. It's because the cause of Love Town (LoR) is a bloodfiend, and this song (Hero) played when the characters going into the nest of Bloodfiends to destroy it.
I thought it was more because of children SPOILERS tommery’s theme is very childlike sort of because tommery mentally degraded into a child, so it had to be simple otherwise it might not understand it. And with Hero at least the beginning it feels like more of a juvenile/childlike experience of “heroes” before going to a more serious track
@@rubikscubegaming2412 true, true but also from what I have read about the interpretation of others “Hero” is ||Spoiler Alert|| basically the 5 stages of grief for Don Quixote/Sancho when their dreams is shattered. - Denial (It’s so much fun leaving reality behind) - Anger (Heroes cannot be real) - Bargaining (Don’t you love the thrill of the chase?) - Depression (Why is it that some are given the role of villains) - Acceptance (I am who I am)
I believe that what helps is how the separate parts of songs do loop in a way not shown in the full Mili video, hence the changes are actually tied to bigger moments and you usually at least heard some stuff loop a bit more than once
Something that Mili has been doing a lot for limbus is that the songs are conversations. for example the key changes I think is the right term symbolize a change in speaker the more minor key is someone who has lost all hope in their dreams while the major key is someone who was inspired to dream by them. However I will say the last section could interpreted as either of the speakers which I’m not sure how that gels musically. P.s. not actually that knowledgeable about music theory so yeah sorry if I used the wrong terms.
This song was perfect as game BGM but as full song, transition is feel hurry? Rush? ...gallop! Song Suddenly galloping ! Which is very Unique and awesome but again, Need in game context to fully understand
As a Project Moon enjoyer I definitely laughed a bit at the "is there a connection between Limbus Company and Library of Ruina?" (It is a sequel to Library of Ruina lmao)
i copied this from a video that i already commented on, but i'd like to drop my interpretation here: [SPOILERS AHEAD] Don Quixote, actual name being sancho is a character who was basically living in the memories of her dad; the actual Don Quixote. they are something called "bloodfiends" throughout the game, sancho was considered the optimistic, justice-filled and heroic girl with very unlikely and overblown stories about her life. however what her coworkers didnt know is that these memories were specifically from her dad. ("we're swaying on horseback..." PS, the "we're" could also refer to sancho having the same memories as her dad) you see, before her chapter, she basically lost her memories and inherited her dad's memories instead. her dad was very optimistic and wanted bloodfiends and humans to coexist. this, however, turned out badly and the bloodfiends couldnt feast on the humans they depended on. which during her canto she finds her actual memories again, and embraces her bloodfiend side again. ("i fell down the horseback...") during her chapter, she's basically in an internal struggle between choosing the side of her dad; who also embraced that bloodfiends and humans cant work together, OR her coworkers. who always depended on her. and she always depended on her (hence, "who am i?") after battling her, her coworkers opened her shut door and got to her heart. convincing her that they're her friends. to which she finally accepts herself and joins her coworkers again. sancho and "don quixote" basically merging together ("here we go, for another lap...") one more thing was to be done; to get rid of her father. ("why is it that some were given the role of villain...") the last part of the song is basically her embracing that her dreams may be unrealistic. but that optimism is what people keep going forward; as well as talking about her basically taking the legacy of her father; and improving it (gonna prove my version of justice is more just than yours) lastly, "i am my biggest fan" has 2 meanings: she is in fact her own biggest fan (as sancho) but she's also her father's biggest fan (as don quixote)
Technically there are relation between Place of Love and Hero actually lol. It's very "strechy" but it there and there also meta relation in terms of characters with Gone angels but it's not in game yet but in sources of characters with whom those songs correlate. But even if we speak thematically/emotionally again there can be seen a connection there in therms of story yea.
So I may or may not have fucked up in my previous comment and infact, did spoil shit. I should've worded it better, but uh yeah, apologies for that if ya maybe saw that, and if you didn't, lemme explain it proper: The song does related to a place of love in some fashions, but not entirely, as it's more so the one who causes the events of in place of love being apart of the same species of people whom are featured in the fight Hero plays for. It's a battle of ideals, and as the song says: "My justice is greater than yours"
"Is there any relation between Library of Ruina and Limbus Company?" idk maybe the fact that they are part of the same trilogy :) In fact, From the place of love and Hero in the story have more in common than you'd expect (*cough warp trains cough*)

This song was perfect as game BGM
but as full song, transition is feel hurry? Rush?
...gallop!
Song Suddenly galloping !
Which is very Unique and awesome
but again, Need in game context to fully understand
I’m glad that we got this opportunity to buss together
As a Project Moon enjoyer I definitely laughed a bit at the "is there a connection between Limbus Company and Library of Ruina?" (It is a sequel to Library of Ruina lmao)
Ah! I finished ruina not too long ago and was told to play lobo Corp. I have no background on Limbus yet!
Limbros, this is so PEAK...
happy for my girl don, she got a fire song like me
limbus and ruina are related, limbus is the game after ruina and its free
8:18, that pattern sounds like the beginning to "the man of la mancha" which are both inspired by don quiote
2:02
It's a bit complicated.
More accurate to say it's trying to _convince itself_ that it is happy.
ROCINANTE!! GALLOP ON!!!
ON AND ON, UNTIL THE UNREACHABLE DREAM IS WITHIN MY REACH!
In many way, Limbus Company continue the story left behind from Library of Ruina with a brand new cast
Seeing bari again after library of ruina blown my man
i copied this from a video that i already commented on, but i'd like to drop my interpretation here: [SPOILERS AHEAD]
Don Quixote, actual name being sancho is a character who was basically living in the memories of her dad; the actual Don Quixote. they are something called "bloodfiends"
throughout the game, sancho was considered the optimistic, justice-filled and heroic girl with very unlikely and overblown stories about her life. however what her coworkers didnt know is that these memories were specifically from her dad. ("we're swaying on horseback..." PS, the "we're" could also refer to sancho having the same memories as her dad)
you see, before her chapter, she basically lost her memories and inherited her dad's memories instead. her dad was very optimistic and wanted bloodfiends and humans to coexist. this, however, turned out badly and the bloodfiends couldnt feast on the humans they depended on. which during her canto she finds her actual memories again, and embraces her bloodfiend side again. ("i fell down the horseback...")
during her chapter, she's basically in an internal struggle between choosing the side of her dad; who also embraced that bloodfiends and humans cant work together, OR her coworkers. who always depended on her. and she always depended on her (hence, "who am i?")
after battling her, her coworkers opened her shut door and got to her heart. convincing her that they're her friends. to which she finally accepts herself and joins her coworkers again. sancho and "don quixote" basically merging together ("here we go, for another lap...")
one more thing was to be done; to get rid of her father. ("why is it that some were given the role of villain...")
the last part of the song is basically her embracing that her dreams may be unrealistic. but that optimism is what people keep going forward; as well as talking about her basically taking the legacy of her father; and improving it (gonna prove my version of justice is more just than yours)
lastly, "i am my biggest fan" has 2 meanings:
she is in fact her own biggest fan (as sancho)
but she's also her father's biggest fan (as don quixote)
0:51 project moon originally heard world.execute(me) and liked them so that's pretty much why pm chooses them for their song making
I should've worded it better, but uh yeah, apologies for that if ya maybe saw that, and if you didn't, lemme explain it proper:
The song does related to a place of love in some fashions, but not entirely, as it's more so the one who causes the events of in place of love being apart of the same species of people whom are featured in the fight Hero plays for. It's a battle of ideals, and as the song says: "My justice is greater than yours"
"Is there any relation between Library of Ruina and Limbus Company?" idk maybe the fact that they are part of the same trilogy :)
In fact, From the place of love and Hero in the story have more in common than you'd expect (*cough warp trains cough*)
persoanlly you should listen to the ingame version since the ingame version has the full track with a really cool instrumental only part!!
@EverythingFantasy I think you'll really enjoy the instrumental only
