Well thanks! The new turbo in, and up and running. Couldn't have done it without your video, and feedback to questions! One of the hardest parts was the underside manifold bolt, (the one you cant see) which really soaked up most of the delays. Came off after multiple days of CRC spraying. One further sticking point was a bracket on the old turbo wasn't transferred across to the new so once done held off the rattle of the heat deflector! Lots of photos. Did tap off the oil feed pipe and removed the ignition fuse and crank over a few times to test oil was flowing heavily to the turbo before clamping down the top oil feed banjo. Success, thanks heaps, and have learnt a lot !
Brilliant thanks for this. What would you recommend for swinging the air conditioning compressor out of the way? Is it a couple of bolts ? It looks as though the hoses are all intact? thanks
Just undo the collar where it joins the turbo and unbolt the support bracket on the engine. You can re-use the turbo feed pipe but you must make sure it's spotlessly clean.
@@aztech4x4mechanical you're a star mate. Ended getting a new pipe. When searching for oil on the Defender2 forum, i found your gleaming input into that topic as well ! :)

Brilliant…
How often do the 2.4ltr Tdci turbo’s fail?
Turbo failure on the 2.4 does happen but it's not common.

yes all still connected. You are just carefully moving it up once the 3 bolts have been removed
The new Turbo has arrived. More questions :) Did you unbolt the cat/DPF? to remove the turbo? Did you replace the turbo oil feed pipe or not bother?
