    Great overview

    I just bought PM 100 and it is all I want. Great sounds in all frequencies range. It can be very loud- more than enough for home practicing. Also great audio reproduction when you connect audio player , etc.

    I’ve just ordered a PM200. I’ve been using headphones for 7 years approx and now I would like to listen differently, it will be a different perspective and I think that It may feel and sound more realistic because air will be moving not just my eardrums.
    I have a 2Box kit which I love and the heads are mesh and the tensions can be adjusted, tuned (correct me please if I am wrong)actually if you listen to the heads only. Amazing kit and quirky looking to boot.
    The headphones do sound very good but it’s a about time that my neighbours heard me 😀

      Was it worth it?! Been using headphones for 15 years now :O never made the switch, I mean I did use some amps, but all of them shitty. Wondering if I should buy PM200

    Nice but, a bit pricey for just a monitor, I reckon the Yamaha DXR 15” might be a better option, especially for live on stage playing, these speakers boast a nice low end , no need for a sub and you get 1100 Watts

    • @SJSer
      @SJSer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      1100 watts of PEAK power (ability to faithfully reproduce a fast response without clipping), but the RMS (average) power is always much less - probably like 100-200 watts

    Thanks for the review. Did you manage to check out what the speaker response is like for playing along to music? I noticed that the drum sound is effected when playing along through headphones. I’m considering if this or a PA style speaker is one I need.

      Hey did you manage to find a e drum monitor tlwith good response time? At the moment I connected my roland spd 30 to my external speakers via a mono to aux cable and the response time is delayed by a couple or few milliseconds.

    Hi Ben, thanks for the review of Roland Equip. I play with a 5 pc country / Rock band and thinking of using a Roland TD-25 kit. Would I need two amps to get the sound out, or just one for me and then for the audience, the PA system? Thanks for the info.

    Ben Minal, I'm thinking to buy the PM-100 but I'm not sure if is enough loud and powerful for a Roland TD1-KV. I know that TD1-KV is the basic model of Roland but I want it to sound mostly with quality. Thanks for video ;)

    • @makskoren1728
      @makskoren1728 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      for home practice is more more than enough. The PM 100 can be very loud, great sound. You should mess around with EQ knobs on the monitor and drum kit modem and you will get very quality sound also with loud settings.

    do you really need this if you have a mixer and some studio monitors? I really need help. I feel like my monitors are not giving me that bug punch no matter how i set my mixer.

    I have an Efnote e kit. Will this be loud enough to jam in a band in a small venue? does this have serious volume? because the Alesis Strike 12 was not enough volume for me, the EQ was decent but one day it stopped working like many other reviewers have stated and while under warranty Alesis knowing the issue responded months later after the fact and still did not warranty the product nor would the store I purchased from. That aside, I am now running through a set of JBL IRX112BT's with matching 15" subs, while this is close to loud enough I am pushing the speakers to the limit because of the frequencies despite the general EQ settings. I know the JBL's are louder when used properly for streaming music they shake the house, with the drum kit the volume is decreased especially when using line out R/L to each JBL set up, I get better volume just going to one speaker and using the 3.5 headphone out ? I thought about the Simmons 12" and 12" sub but not sure if it will produce enough volume? I need enough volume to drive a small space, I jam at home with my kids who wear ear protection but we are getting to the point where we like to feel the music not hear it and are always in need of more volume. Any suggestions from anyone :-) I want a small venue stage volume in my home where I can turn it down if need be not be wishing for more volume :-)

    Thanks for the great video. Do you know if passive loudspeakers would work when connected directly to the XLR outputs on the back of the PM200? Or would you need powered speakers?

    hi, a friend of mine plays bass and uses a Personal Monitor-PM10, for small gigs.
    He absolutely loves it as a bass amp.
    Can you test it, together with the bass, and give your opinion.
    Thanks in advance from the Faroe Islands

    I cannot find documentation of the frequency response anywhere on Roland's site/owner's manual, nor on Sweetwater's site, etc. I feel like this is important to know especially on the low end of the spectrum.

    So if I buy this what cables do I need to plug the drum kit in and also my phone to play along with the music ? I’m a newbie to electronic drums lol

    • @BumpNrun69
      @BumpNrun69 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1/4" Cable/s, TRS like the ones probably on your e-drums, connect between drum module (mono) to Input 1 on amp. You can plug your your phone with headphone cable into Input 2. However understand, be prepared to be disappointed - the quality sucks. It will sound like mud compared to using your headphones connected to the drum module. Drum amps are a BIG disappointment I've purchased (2) Simmons DA350 and a Roland PM-100. Blew the tweeter in my Roland TWICE. My advise would be, visit a local music store and judge for yourself. Watch-out for Cymbal "hits" when playing past 1/3 on the amp, Good Luck.

  • @CharlieLord
    @CharlieLord 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Good video and well explained as always, Ben :)
    But I still don't really get the point of monitors like these - they just seem to defy the point of an electric kit in the first place, having to be wound up super loud to actually get over the noise from the pads (as you could still hear with your playing).
    The fact that it's a single speaker also just seems inferior to using headphones, and while I take the "playing with other people" point, at the cost and size of the units you could easily put together a recording/headphone monitoring rig, which gives more options and is also probably more portable?
    Maybe I'm just missing something completely...

    • @UtherSayer
      @UtherSayer 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. When i jam with people on my e kit i just run everything through my interface (guitar, bass etc) and just use head phones with a splitter so it can take 2 more pairs of headphones. sounds very clear and not loud at all so neighbors are chill haha

    • @brighamweston

      Yessir I mean a 125 would be ideal for a local venue, although 100 would still do it .

      @@brighamwestonfor some reason people are bashing it. Reviews online say its good but im unsure. I got a speaker that isnt good for my yamaha dtx63x its delayed with striking the pads and the sound quality is so different than a traditional speaker. I was told this would work

      Left handed playing a right handed kit - it's called 'open-handed'

      @helenpowell7908 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ben Minal Are you a natural left handed person. Throughout the years I have set my kit up left handed for 5 years then back to right handed, then back again. Just to keep things fresh. 43 years playing. My uncle was Cozy Powell, so I grew up playing drums at birth, lol... I am a natural right handed person. Thanks for the reply. N.Powell.

    I just bought a Simmons DA200S and it is much better than this Roland. The Simmons DA200S actually is a stereo amp. It had two 2 1/2" tweeters, two 6 1/2" midrange drivers, and a 12" sub all in one cabinet. I use mine for keyboard and is sounds amazing! I don't understand why I waste so much time trying out and buying so many keyboard amps when the Simmons DA200S is all I need. It's amazing.

    What the hell non of these can beat the roland PM30 dont now why roland replace it with this pm200, no satellite speaker, seems to me like a crap out on making something cheaper! The PM30 is more robust and sound way better more bass boom, in fact i never max it out from i bought it, over 20 years ago!

  • @ClihtYeastwood
    @ClihtYeastwood 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I know this isn’t an ad for Roland, but if you play this level of kit in this manner, you will end up having to replace all the cymbals within 2 years, maximum.
    It’s pathetic really, for the price they are absolutely not durable

  • @baranikrishnan608
    @baranikrishnan608 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thie PM100 is a piece of shit that goes muffled at high intensity playing. I tried Roland's customer service. They never responded, I didn't have time to chase and the warranty's expired. I'm getting myself a QSC after reading reviews on those. This is incredibly expensive for the shit quality, that's all I'll say. And there's no headphone jack! For $300!! WTF???
