    Cool nice review..at the moment I am using my work Festool media mini speaker for my daughters drums when she uses them without the headphones ...but this roland unit may be the answer to get my speaker back...thanks Jim.

    Just bought one for practice and teaching, it does a good job. If I wanted an amp for stage then this wouldn’t cut it. I use two Mackie SRM450s and still can’t hear myself with some bands!

    I have my drums going through a small mixer and then into my hifi AUX input and its absolutely brilliant, so if you happen to have a decent hifi amp and speakers I'd suggest doing that instead

    I bought this amp for my new TD-17KVX e kit and it blew out the third time I used it ! I sent it back and got a full refund. When it worked , I was not impressed by the sound . It lacks low end punch. I am now looking for a pa system with a subwoofer to handle the low end. I don't believe you can buy any single drum amp and get the kind of bass that I want. They sound great for mids and highs but that's about it.

      Already figured out what to buy as an alternative?

    • @thetimahawk1
      @thetimahawk1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. I bought a Turbosound IP300 powered pa speaker and stand for it for $450 and this thing kicks ass !! The sound is crystal clear and LOUD ! It has 2 channels with xlr and trs inputs plus a Bluetooth channel. It also has 2 xlr outputs for linking another speaker or subwoofer , built in eq for lows mids and highs , room position selection and reverb. I am going to buy another one so my kit is in stereo and add a sub for some serious kick drum. The kick sounds great right now without the sub but adding one would be killer.

      @@thetimahawk1 Sounds great. Thinking of doing the same as you, i have a TD17kvx also. Which method of connecting your kit do you find the best?

    • @thetimahawk1
      @thetimahawk1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the TD-17 module going into a Yamaha MG10XU mixer and out to a Turbosound IP300 powered pa via xlr connection and this thing is a beast. This is a great mixer for this set up. I add a little compression and a touch of reverb along with the high , mid and low adjustments and that's it. Usually on a $200 mixer the effects aren't all that but Yamaha nailed it with this one. A word of advice . Stay away from Behringer !! Their small mixers are crap. All plastic

    How loud would this amp be at the highest volume?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well its an 80W setup. I have no idea what the dB would be at max. I would imagine it would distort before you reached max volume. I don't gig or anything, just home use so never had it up to max really.

    Thanks for that intro. One question please; can I control volume levels on the headphones separate from the Roland monitor? Seems whatever ever volume level I have on the monitor is the same on the headphones. And that can be too load. Thanks

      Sadly not, that headphone jack does not have audio adjustment on the PM-100

    Nice review, torn between the PM-100 and PM-200 more for sound quality than volume, though. Oh, and the XLR outputs might be handy. PS Those are ¼" jacks, not phono, completely different looking animal ;-)

    Great review thank you. Have you compare this with the Simmons DA200S. I too wanted one for just in home use and was wondering whether it is powerful or loud enough. You know when you play the drum, it is all about the bass. are you satisfied with this monitor?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey thanks for leaving a comment.
      I have not tried or heard the Simmons DA200S. I did look for this in the UK when I was looking but couldnt see it easily available to check out.
      I havent had loads of time for drumming lately, but I am really happy with this monitor. I still like to pop my headphones on sometimes, but man this packs a punch for its size.

      @@SpectrumGeeks I agree I'm finally using the 100 on live on the gig and it is great. The lows are punchy tight and the highs are defined. For me, it solved having the sound crew to figure out how to get through the overheads correctly that seems to be an ongoing issue. It's always too much bottom and snare and nothing on the high end like the cymbals and hats. The Roland monitor is a easy fix to that problem and I manage it there on the monitor setup next to my Roland kit. I can adjust the volume and highs and lows at my finger tips. There's no need to be a technical person but a drummer getting the job done then paid. Only thing is figuring out how to continue using my Roland phones while playing with the monitor live. I could go without them but I like hearing through the phones. Question I'm posing

    I have searched and searched for an answer to the only question I have no honest answer has been found. What is the quality (fidelity) of the sound of the PM-100 compared to a good pair of headphones? I am looking for a drum monitor/amplifier to provide the most realistic sound. Any advice?

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmm good questions and not sure there is a clear answer. In some ways I prefer using my headphones as you do get a good clarity. However, when using the PM-100 you get the "feel" of a real kit, as you feel the sound in your body. Not sure if that helps? So I think you need to have both, the PM-100 isnt a replacement for a good set of headphones.

    Hi Mr Spectrum, thanks for your video and thank you also for giving me the idea to buy this nice amp.
    But I still have a problem,
    I use the same td11kv Drums set as yours and I unfortunatly note that the sound is not very loud on that Amp compare to my old guitar amp, I mean the sound is clear but not loud enough ...
    What's your way to solve that , if you could help a Drumming Friend .
    Have a nice day Mr Pectrum G.

    • @SpectrumGeeks
      @SpectrumGeeks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually think its plenty loud, so not sure what you can do really to make it any louder as not something I have felt the need to consider.

      @@SpectrumGeeks. All right thanks for your answer. I must be deaf...😉 Can you tell me about your EQ configuration on your drums, maybe it is the solution cause the level of my drumkit volume is already on 100
      I'm a bit scared to blow my amp up if i turn the EQ lourder.
      Sorry for my wierd requests but this is the first time i have to find solution inside the drumkit settings, my previous amp was much lourder..... But with a worst sound quality by the way. .
      Anyway i really thank to for answer cause i can't find lot of informations about the pm-100, seems like everybody is satisfied on forums and no body seems have the same probleme.
      Thank you ! GOD BLESS!!! 😉

    This is a piece of shit that goes muffled at high intensity playing. I tried Roland's customer service. They never responded, I didn't have time to chase and the warranty's expired. I'm getting myself a QSC after reading reviews on those. This is incredibly expensive for the shit quality, that's all I'll say.
