LOL 08:50 absolutely love that transition! well, Sims 4 is absolutely horrible with birthday parties. In the previous games the birthday Sim would wait out until everyone was gathered, so they could all clap, scream and do wtv until they blew the candles. Now, in the sims 4, most of the time my Sims just blow the candles and no one reacts or does anything. like it didn't happen. Ehhh
In one of my Sims 3 games, I learned the cake can catch on fire when I was aging up my second set of quadruplets (had two sets of four). One cake caught on fire, set the whole dining room on fire, and somehow spread to the kitchen before finally being put out and I went from a family of ten to four left and most guests didn't make it. Glad I saved right before cause that was just awful. Afterwards I installed sprinklers and moved everything outside to be safe 😅. Never had that happen again in 10yrs now but I also changed the settings back to lower the chances of that ever happening again cause I was stressed irl with those babies.
Again, Sims 2 wins for me. The memorable cutscenes, the look of the cake, the increasing number of candles, and overall attention to detail, is just top notch❣👏👏👏
Look at the difference of the look of The Sims 2 cake and Sims 4. Ya might be able to make your own cake in TS4, but even that process (being not very good, with no attention to detail), is not enough to salvage it.

I noticed that the video mentioned that toddlers were added to the sims 4 in 2017, but didn't mention that the infant update wasn't added until March of 2023. Just to let people know.
Imo Sims 3 is actually the worst with birthdays simply because of how glitchy the parties can be in that game. Half the sims don't show up because they have work and the other half leave 15 seconds in. It makes it very hard to have a nice long birthday party with family and friends from around the town. Sims 2 is the best because of the cutscenes for aging up and I enjoy the party system more than the checklist in Sims 4.
@@saturn1177 true but sometimes realism is not the best for gameplay. I get it if jobs are fully simulated and require sims of different roles to be present at work but since they aren’t they could really allow things like parties to be the priority for a sim.

You should mention that babies in Sims 4 cannot be aged up by birthday cakes, nor can you throw a birthday party for them. You either wait for them to age up naturally, or you can age them through a menu. It is, sort of, understandable, since babies are an object that cannot be moved from the crib, but it's still annoying and immersion breaking for me. But now, that we have infants in the game, I am aging babies up immediately, anyway and pretending they didn't even exist 😁 There's no reason to deal with these object babies anymore. Still, despite this step down with babies from Sims 2 and 3, I think Sims 4 did it the best with all the other life stages. Using any cake for birthdays is just great. And hamburger cake with candles is really funny, especially for toddlers or kids. So, in this case, Sims 4 is my winner.
As far as I can remember, in Sims 4 we can also add some herbs on food to make it tastier (herbs, which we can gather during gathering). I can't remember, can we sabotage cakes and spoil them on purpose, but it works with some dishes 🤔
Cakes and candles are a nightmare in micromanagement in Sims 4. If you don’t get candles on a cake quickly enough, someone will take a piece and you can’t put anything on it 😡. On the bright side, you can make one and put it in the fridge (candles and all) to save for the next birthday.
