Wow ok. Burning the clown painting down will also burn the clown??? Thats some crazy details thats non-existent nowadays. I dont rly get impressed easily but that def was unexpected.
I love how unexpected Sims was. The Tragic Clown, hamster/guinea pig disease, burglars, and fireworks indoors are all very much in our memories. Loved how your video just let the sounds play out and delighted how you paired your quiet comment of the Sims 1's challenge level with apt scenes
OMG the tragic clown in sims 1 is so... Tragic! Felt so sorry for the guy, just wanted to give him a hug! And when the clown catcher caught him... Screams of pure horror
It's like in The Sims 2 he was missing, but then in The Sims 3 we found out he is dead by drowning, so, someone killed him or something? Creep, but it's nice EA created this "story" to fan's theories
At first, I did not find clowns creepy, but the I read "It," by Stephen King. Many comedians have also made the claim to be laughing on the outside, but crying on the inside, hence the tragic backstory of the fictional Joker, and the tragic demise of many comedians (i.e. Robin Williams). As for one of the Sim Lore theories, the Tragic Clown could have tragically drowned in a pool of his own tears.
@@aeoligarlic4024 Here is a theoretical timeline of the entire mainline Sims Series (according to PetStarPlanet Ultimate Fanon Wikia): 1) 12th or 13th Century: The Sims Medieval 2) 1954: The Sims 3 (however Store Worlds and ITF offer earlier and futuristic timelines) 3) 1979: The Sims 4) 1989: The Sims 4 (for some characters, otherwise, alternate timelines meshed together without cohesion) 5) 2004: The Sims 2 (the only mainline game completely set for the irl current timeline) 6) c. 2010's The Sims 3 for Nintendo DS
You forgot to mention the Tragic Clown Fish from The Sims 3. It was even listed as one of the ingredients to make the Origin of the Tragic Clown Elixir.
the music that played when the clown catcher representative came made it seem as if the representative was going to resort to extreme measures to catch the clown. 😂
Sims 4 clown as always makes it feel like they copy the physical aspect of something but have no idea what made it work in the first place. Sims 1 just gets the idea right, it's supposed to be HAUNTING, not a freaking moodlet xD (Also, I always thought Sims 2 bunny was a reference to Donny Darko?)
So if in 3 he's dead, and it takes place years before 1, does that mean the tragic clown is dead in 1 too? Creepy 👀 The Sims 1 tragic clown is the best in the franchise because it is the most boring, unbearable and scary of them all, you almost need an exorcism to get him out of your house
@@cateIeya how you dont know this? Just see the townies in 1 and 3, in 1 Morthimer and Bella are adults and married, in 3 they are both children and live with their families. Look for family stories from all the games in the franchise, there are a lot of interesting things about the residents of the worlds (except 4 who did not commit themselves to this)
@@KaahWissmann Haha sorry! I just started diving into the lore and story about the Sims. I never played the 3rd game, only the 2nd and the disappointing 4th. And that is very interesting to say the least. Thank you for telling me! :)
The more I watch your videos, the more I remember why I thought Sims 1 was so weird as a kid. I loved the game, but I always had a sort of uneasy feeling when I played it. Having to distract and entertain the clown yourself is a really funny idea. I think it's a shame that the clown has become a sort of townie in The Sims 4. Anyway, the lack of fun NPCs in this game makes it really empty. It's crazy that Sims 1 (and 2) are often the most interesting games in the franchise.
Man I'd never heard of what happened if you burnt the painting, talk about spoilers for Hereditary. I think Sims 1 wins for shear madness and horror. The clown screaming and running away from the Clown Catchers was also something
Makes sense that he's dead in the prequel sims 3 and then in the sims 1 he's basically a supernatural being like a ghost or demon since you cant trap him he can just teleport out of it through a hole. Plus you literally have to either burn his painting similar to deleting a grave or call a special service. Not even the police will help you here.
I do not think there is any relevant competition here, neither Sims 3, nor Sims 4 could reach the level of eeriness that Sunny brought to The Sims! I was sad when he was missing in Sims 2, but I do love the Social Bunnies, as well as the therapist, which is missing from all other games, tragically (pun intended).
Yep, there's also a social bunny in...the freezer? Or the fridge, when you open it. But I love that at least the social bunny gets a little nod in the app, even if I wish the horror of it had been preserved, lmao.
I believe killing the clown in TS1 also has a special quote in the album section (when the automatic picture of the dying sim is taken) if I remember correctly!
To me, the only one that did it good is the Sims 1. Not even my beloved TS3. I hate when in the Shit 4 even Father winter is not an NPC but a townie. It breaks the immersion when every other minute he calls to ask for something.
It would make sense but Sims 3 actually takes place before Sims 1 and 2. It’s the first, we can see that due to Bella Goth being a child in 3 but then older in sims 1 and then 2
I think it would have been more fitting for the Sims 3 Tragic Clown to have died from fire rather than drowning since you could kill him with fire in the Sims 1. That would have been a nice callback. Also I find it ironic how one of his traits in the Sims 3 is excitable when he is meant to represent the sad clown archetype was very gloomy in the first game.
I think the cause of death and the hydrophobic trait might be to spark theories of either suicide or murder, or that he died from drowning in his tears. There is also no "sad" trait in the base game of TS3, if I remember correctly. He has the clumsy trait, maybe insane or neurotic would've been a better fit instead of excitable
Plumbella did a video on this, and there's a little girl dead in a grave by him who has facepaint on, and she also died by drowning - so Plumbella's theory was that the girl drowned at a birthday party, and the clown was there to perform...and tried to save her, also dying in the process! (His original aspiration was to be a doctor, so...maybe that's why he's so sad! He wanted to save lives, and died while trying to earn money to go to medical school...and trying to save a little girl's life?)

Sims 1 was so traumatic for me! My dad worked for a computer/software company and often got computer games as a gift from partnerships. One of them was Sims 1. It was all in English, which isn't my first language and I hadn't learned it yet (I was 5 or 6 at the time). My Sims died constantly, kids were sent to military school, etc. Imagine my shock when this fucking clown turned up and wouldn't leave! I was so lost 😂 I had to get my mom to help me, she googled it and got rid of this face-painted bastard. 💀
There was still a carpool even in Sims 1! It even improved as you went up the job track and had different cool options for each career so it was a good way to measure progress. It's pretty sad that Sims 4 doesn't even have that.
I vividly remember encountering original version of the clown while playing the sims because my families pc at the time was so bad that I couldn’t stop fast forwarding, by the time I could my sims had their kids taken away and had the clown living with them.
If you have sims makin magic and the clown follows you to a clown themed magic lot, he and the clown janitor will hug each other but tragic clown will secretly desipise him. He'll also ride the roller coaster and scream all the time.
One of my favorite npcs ❤ It’s sad he’s not in ts2 but at least he’s referenced. I also just leave him deceased when I play sunset valley cuz it kind of adds to the mystery of his origins. Like, if he was an urban legend or something since sims 3 takes place 50 years before sims 2.
Just from looking at the thumbnail you can see the cheapness of the Sims 4. They tried to recreate the clown from the Sims 1 but they couldn't be bothered with putting a full pineapple necklace/choker on him and gloves and (probably) shoes are not the right colors. Pathetic lack of attention to detail as usual. And why is the bottom half of his face paint red? It doesn't look realistic enough to invoke the feeling of concern that he might have been injured and is thus bloodied up; it doesn't exactly make him look funnier or especially creepy either (again because the red looks like really bad fake blood).
I love how utterly relentless Sims 1 was in every regard. Nothing in the other games came close to how much you dreaded if that goddamn clown showed up on your lot. He is so pathetic that you can't help but laugh.
So you mean to tell me that someone either lured the original Tragic Clown into their homes when they were in a bad mood or got sick of them being there, drowned them in their pool, and now the townspeople are cursed to have to take turns enduring his fate for 24 hours at a time?
Tragic clown in the sims 3 doesn't even look like the original ones. I hate it. I wish there was mod or atleast some guide to make tragic clown like it's origin.
Sims 1 Tragic Clown is such a troll I love it 😂

the way the very pixelated sims 1 clown shows more emotions and us ten times more hilarious than every single sim in TS4
the consistent slapping in the sims 1 💀

The Sims 1 scream really shows horror rather than comedy

What did he know that they were going to do to him...? 😨😰
