Tedward no wrong! Police do not care about that! They know where all dealers are and where all dope dens are they know because they like to pick off easy targets, the small time personal use fiends.. then claim it a victory and try to say that they recovered x y and x from the steets and blah blah blah. No speed trap is set to catch anything other than money.... 99.99999% of stops are exactly what you encountered, no drugs, nothing illegal other than a few mph over a possible invalidly slow speed limit.
While I am fairly respectful to cops when they are respectful towards me, my overall respect for them in recent years has reached an all time low as my eyes have opened and I realized how reality really is with these guys. But it going to get into it about all the ins and outs this is about speed traps and personally I beleive speed traps need to be a thing of the past, both officer involved and automated.. I do not think this would increase number of people speeding or crashes that occur. Most everyone drives responsibly and within rules, few of us like me and you who stray out of the rules on right occasion for some fun and maybe 2 kids that treat the roads like a race track. Who do you thing these officers are going to catch? Probably unlikely to catch the 2 people tearing about, they probably wise to where police like to hide. Would they catch us? Ya maybe more list us than the two kids ripping about. How about the person doing 5-10 mph over limit and touching the line coming out of the corner off a hill? Probably will be them cuz much more of those people exist so opportunity for police to jump on them is much more prime.

It really bothers me just how people in the US have to be so extremely aware of their smallest actions arounds cops (e.g., properly choosing the place to pull over, holding the hands in clearest possible light to show that they are empty, ask permission to access the glove box).
The first and only time i got a speeding ticket i was stopped, the cop came to my window, asked for the registration, i just told him hello and reached for the glove box. No guns were drawn and nobody got shot that day by a cop (wrongly or otherwise).
Strange country, everyone is always so much on edge.

Did the same thing you did during a snowstorm one time, ie pulling off to a safe place for us both to be 100-150 meters up the road going maybe 30-40km/h. They pulled guns on me once i pulled over because they thought i was evading.....in a base model subaru....in a snowstorm.....in a small town....with my license plate clearly visible. To say they were bored is an understatement. No ticket as well which is nice, but bullshit to pull guns for something so silly.

I've had a cop behind me with his lights on, I had just gotten my intermediate and was doing really good with driving. Went about 65 around some curves, feeling the body roll and getting myself used to driving a classic car at higher speeds when this guy came around the curve behind me lights on and siren blaring. The sucky part is that there was nowhere to pull off. Thankfully I edged over to show that I was looking for a place to pull off and he went around me. This car is too old for hazard lights to be standard or else I'd have used them.

Responded to a call one night out in the boonies next town over. Very woodsy flat land. So these guys had a race car for drag strips. Old foxbody mustang. Beautiful car too, from what I could see. They used to test run it just outside the main town on a nice flat stretch of road. You could tell they did it there many times because, on google maps, you could actually see the spot where they'd floored it from EVERY SINGLE TIME. Well, on this night, lady was coming the other way at about 70mph while they were setting up. One inside the vehicle, 4 standing around outside the vehicle on the road getting ready to run it. Lady didn't see them until it was too late. Showed up to 3 very dead individuals and one walking around with some relatively minor scrapes and a nice puncture with no blood. Idk how that one guy survived, but the others were VERY dead. I love running cars, but that image sticks with me. The one guy who wasn't immediately visibly dead we started cpr on and realized it was just jello, and definitely not going to help him.
But that incident is a firm reminder in my mind to always leave a little left in the tank to make sure you can move out of the way of who the hell knows what will come. But these backroads you're driving, while more hilly, very much remind me of that.

Either way you go through the motions etc, after he gives you his piece of mind aka "where's the fire" all the cliches he wasnt running radar but visually paced me. You, Pay or fight the ticket... then about 3 months later. A minivan behind me, tailgating me, me doing 2-3 over the limit, nothing crazy, I see a cop with flashing lights behind him, i'm leading the pack. we both pull over, the cop behind the min van. "you in front of the minivan youre ok, move on" OHHH did i drive 2mph under the limit allllll the way home. where I pulled over was 10ft from where I pulled 3 months earlier. I changed my route after that
