First of all, I have to say thank you all so much for all of your support, kind words, stories, and criticism! It all means a lot to me. This project was started in November 2021, when the game was in a VERY bad state, in terms of gun balancing, UI changes, Cheaters, Unpopular nerfs, and many many more. We researched this video for 6 months before starting our edit. The reason me and Mystik decided to start this project was to delve into the history of siege, and what made it fun back then, compared to the current state of the game and community. With this being said, Year 7 is DEFINITELY looking up for siege, Developers are actually making some interesting and positive changes! On top of this, gameplay is a lot more fun than it was, a lot of server issues have been fixed, guns are (somewhat) more properly balanced. However there is still work to be done! Cheaters still run the game at high elo, LMG meta has to go, and so on so on... So bear this in mind when you are watching. This was made before (hopefully) the resurgence of Rainbow Six Siege. As usual, your support and feedback is eternally appreciated, much love to you all :) from bxT and Mystik
This is the sole reason siege still sits on my Xbox. Just can’t seem to get rid of it, still hoping I can go back to having that much fun with my old siege friends again sometime.
Honestly I was still finding ways to have fun until they removed recruit in ranked and his loadouts and changed the UI drastically every season and resettled cosmetics loadouts and keybinds every season which is saying a lot considering the fact that most by that point had already stopped having fun on the game. It’s been tough, I’ve been playing since Y2 Velvet Shell
.... I didn't even know icycat died.... he was the first siege creator I ever watched and after seeing this I just watched all the videos about it. it's so sad dude fuck... I quit siege around the time he died so I didn't even see anything about it
@@marvion2114 I literally watched his last video ever the day it came out to learn about the house rework, I didn't know it was his last ever. like shit dude it's just so shit cause I ain't even know cause I'd moved on from siege
The serious tone of the game compared to the goofy hero shooter it became was really glazed over here. A lot has gone into the downfall along with the cheaters
Great video though. Started playing back during the closed beta and officially gave it up with the rest of my squad in 2020. It was the last thing keeping my friend group together and unfortunately I can’t even go back and play the game by myself because of the disgraceful mess it became
@@fancyelk2373 it's always so funny to me how people keep bringing up this shit when every possible movement mechanic is slower now than it ever was. The game was never slower and more tactical before. The only reason people played slower is the fact nobody knew the game and they were bad at it. This happens with every pvp game ever. People learn over the years and no matter how high the skill ceiling it will be reached and the game will be played differently. Most games are more fun when everyone is still learning but there's nothing you can do to keep it that way either. Nto to mention this problem only affects ranked as pro play is nothing like the tdm meta that is ranked and there's really not any way to fix it cause at the end of the day the stakes in ranked aren't high so people aren't gonna try as hard regardless which results in prioritizing shooting people over structured team play which is way harder.
As someone who started playing the closed beta this really hit. I haven’t touched the game since year 5 and don’t plan to and tbh I lost all hope for the game. One thing I can say for sure though is siege was by far the best game I have ever played in my life and I’m sure many others agree and that’s the best you could hope for.
@@itzzgeo9633 first off that's not rainbows fault, second of all most of those people are not good I came back to the back to the game this season and easily hit plat 2
god, I miss 2017 seige so much. so many good memories of staying up late in a ps4 party with my mates. Just wish I knew those were the best years of seige at the time. Miss all those dudes and the fun
I started playing the game in late 2017 and I'm pretty sure I was in the 7th grade. I remember I played R6 for like 8 months straight and never even considered playing another game. Good times
I have 2.7k on the game and havent played since year 4. I miss the game so much. I downloaded it and tried playing, but the new operators are fucking comical. The artstyle is completely lost and the game just felt like playing a match of some anime hero shooter... The game will always have a place in my heart for the memories with it, but it's just not the game I bought years ago.
It's the constant punishment from the devs that did it for me. Removing fun and unique mechanics that make Siege what it is. (Throwing back grenades, quick lean, drop shot, etc...) Useless map changes (No more shadow or dark corners, No night map, new maps looking super bright). "balancing" (Acogs getting removed left and right, OPs losing their grenades, portable breach charge, No more unique passive, Twitch's drone, No Recruit customization). Those are a few things that comes to my mind when thinking about Siege. So much stuff was removed for the sole purpose of making the game more "competitive" and "new comer friendly". Hun, we all learned the game. We stayed because of what it was. Trial and error. No one went into R6 hoping for it to be like CSGO or COD. Yet Ubisoft decided that turning it into an Airsoft field trip with gadgets that make no sense would be the best way to develop the game. Like ffs dead bodies disappear now. Hiding in dead bodies IS a strat. I loved R6 because you could tackle situations the way you wanted to.
I feel the same way with this and just about every other shooter nowadays. I don't even want to get rid of these skins for those that do like it, just give me an option to disable them so I can have a consistent theme in my game.
You left out one important detail- How Ubisoft decided to start reworking every map instead of releasing new ranked maps. Like I get some maps werent great but they began reworking the most well liked and what felt like the most balanced maps, and with no new maps coming out the gameplay got boring. Plus reworking house made playing games such as Michael meyers or 1v1’s less fun. Edit: a lot of people are saying the reworks were fine, I'm not arguing that. I'm saying there wasn't enough new content and that made the game stale. Ubisoft should have been releasing reworks and new ranked maps
They easily could’ve polled the community to figure out which maps needed reworking, yet decided that “mother knows best” and ruined some of my fave maps (house obv, but I also actually enjoyed favela as it was for Mike Meyers)
I think game devs spend so much time trying to keep games “fresh” and so it gets to a point where they are making changes nobody wants just to put out an update. I would much rather get 1 good good update that changes what players genuinely want changed, vs a bunch of updates with a bunch of wack changes not a single person wanted changed.
for real, i tried to log in for the first time in a while earlier today and play. They made the UI look like garbage (especially on stretched aspect ratios), neither me nor my friend could change our keybinds because the new UI is buggy as hell, i had to go through the pain of setting up my phone number to my siege account (even though it costs literally a dollar to bypass on a site like textverified so it does nothing to stop cheaters), they made operator icons look like garbage, and I literally had to play utility meta in casual because its the only way to play the game now. Just an overall bad experience, the game was so much more fun in like 2018-2019
I don't think it's the devs trying to keep things "fresh" so much as it is them trying to keep things "balanced," mostly to appease Pro League (who ironically dislike several changes made for them).
@@Padlock_Steve dawg how you gonna tell me I flip out when they delay a season 💀💀never once complained about a season in siege being delayed, probably because I stopped playing ages ago since the game became hot ass
I think the attitude in what siege was took a very drastic shift throughout its life, it went from gritty realism about an elite counter terrorism team that was being assembled with a swat team element to it, to an over exaggerated competitive FPS as almost it was a sport, and they leaned way too hard into this element to the point where this is no longer about a counter terrorist team being assembled of elite cops and agents, this is people with the stupidest and whackiest back stories thrown into a mish mash of shit where they compete for sport in front of crowds, this isnt a rainbow six game anymore, this is an arena shooter that doesnt work properly half the time
@@Lorentz_Driver You want me to call it like it is and say 80% of the time theres some game breaking glitch plaguing everyone? Need I remind you that the barricade glitch took a month to actually fix? Or how about the broken asf lion meta? Or the god awful match replay system? Or the fact that the soft destruction is so inconsistent and buggy asf... honestly this game is getting better but its not an enjoyable experience.
@@hypersonic2180 If you go through VarsityGamings hacker replay series youll see its just full of bugs that make it near enough unusable for anything but grabbing clips of cool shots, but accurate recreation of the match is pretty much impossible, i think a lot of the major kinks have been ironed out by now but its been really broken for a very long time
i have been playing this game since the beta and when you played the start menu noise in the introduction you made me feel an emotion i didn't know existed, it was like dread, sorrow, and nostalgia all in one. that really took me back, thank you.
The game now is great. It's getting hate for no reason. Bravo packs are amazing I just wish they put all of that into normal packs, the ui is decent again outside the compas but I can scale it down servers are healthy, and on PC I haven't ran into a hack ever. The only bad thing about r6 was them not having much to add each season so they would change ui each season always pissed me off. But the removal of sights, reworks, movement changes sucks for us but it was definitely needed for balance. We all complained about spawn peaking but yet we beg for Jagers acog back? That does not ruin a game. I personally never complained about spawn peaking bc it's 100%, in your control but in the early days it was not. I'm not a new player saying this I started at red crow and the game got alot better since. You all saying it's trash now and this and that is lieng your just sick of playing the same game over and over. Now ik u haven't said that much and others in the comments are ruthless but this reply goes to all. The sight sensitivity change was great, the different sight colors was great, the reworks was great, new guns when they added them was great, sights of all types was great, phone verification was great.
@@KodaBear2 The fact you can get shot through a 1mm hole in the wall someone made, and the fact that you can hide drones for free info, then get teammates to hold drones when they are dead. This makes the game despicable The sound design was made by children. You just cant even tell where people are coming from half of the time. Especially when you have a floor below and above you. Then they purposely make operators broken in the first 2 weeks to get people to buy the season pass.
@@stevemoore4286 you obviously never played in years. Bullet wholes are removed and drones are not broken. Noone has ever complained about then. That's the worse argument I seen about drones. It's a team based game of course they can view it when dead its nit supposed to be realistic
Dokk is the clear change of pace in the game's aesthetics. Every character bio before Dokk was written like a pyscheval. Dokk was written like a Tumblr OC. Became less about CTUs from across the world and more about hero characters with uber saturated backstories.
@@aces6262 I held this opinion when I quit the game years ago. Whatever was the CTU after Italy was the last I played, I don't even remember at this point.
@@aces6262 You expect people to have their own opinion my guy? Every "New Siege bad" player just waits for their favorite content creator to give them their own feelings about the game.
It is so nostalgic to see all this for someone who played since the beginning. I miss the good old siege days when the game wasnt perfect. That actually gave me most of the fun and it wasnt as competitive as it is now. I would love to see a mode where you can play the 2015-2017 R6
@@pleasesubihaveeightkids Nah, it is not the same. You dont have the same sights, the same atmosphere, the same lightning, the same recoil as it was back then. It is completely different
@@pleasesubihaveeightkids that event was ass ngl, it was like 2021 mechanics on old house and only like jager and bandit had their acog, nothing else. pretty sure even ash didnt have her acog lol
Started playing in 2017 near the end of velvet shell and it was the best game I had ever played. Played a lot and met so many friends, it was genuinely fun. Not just the competitive side of the game but also the the fun casual matches and custom matches (they even made sledge myers unfun by removing lots of parkour spots, specifically changing the bullet proof shield so you couldn’t use it to get to other places.) All aspects of the game were fun. It was the small blemishes that made it good. Then they started making unnecessary changes and it was never the same. If they reverted the game back to end of operation health I would play again.
I just recently went back to R6 and yeah, I miss the old siege alot more. I mostly miss it being realistic with the gadgets, I always thought that was cool.
Even the gadgets that weren't realistic felt plausible enough and were implemented well enough to where they seemed reasonable. Now it's just lasers and goofy nonsensical gadgets. Just feels like a hero-style shooter like overwatch now.
@@ByZHellasAs someone who still plays both, I disagree completely. I agree with your point about realism but Overwatch is not a great comparison. Overwatch definitely feels like a completely different genre to Siege
@@jacobwhelan45 Yeah I know, but my point is that new operators feel more like heroes or something than actual operators. I haven’t played overwatch so take it with a bit of salt, but I’m thinking you might understand my fairly oversimplified comparison
@@ByZHellas I remember seeing a video a while back when siege was first released about an actual anti-terrorism officer reacting to how his field is portrayed. Almost everything about siege is apparently very unrealistic, everything to how to how they approach a situation gathering intel to what gadgets they use. This includes really basic ones you think would have genuine uses like a sledge hammer or fully extendable shield. I am honestly happier they're willing to add more content to the game making the game feel different to play each season even if it sacrifices that illusion of realism.
@@trydodis690 Well at least early on everything was realistic enough and at least seemed reasonable now it’s like laser walls and stuff like that. At least sledgehammers or an ADS has a basis in reality. Content and quality of content are two very different things because Rainbow was a good arcade tactical shooter and now it’s just devolved into what feels like overwatch with CQB.
I actually think last season was probably one of the best in terms of stability, a very well balanced new operator, and gameplay. The biggest thing we were missing for 3 years now is a new map. I still think there are some small issues with the meta becoming very "rush rush" again. But other than that, I still like it.
I agree totally with your opinion, but I hate to see the community right now. The new map is banned all of the time. Asami aren't often played and I think this is one of the bigger problems right now (besides cheaters), that the community didn't except new changes like back in the day. All run there Main ops in casual and ranked and the community is full of toxicity and sweating. If u play unranked u got rush down by a full stack and this kills most of the fun for me. PS: I play most of the time solo in unranked.
@@Lejobub1409 my solution is to content drought bc if you look at overwatch most of the sweats and toxic ppl are gone (with the exclusion of comp even tho i avoid that like the plague)
That's the issue with this kind of videos. It's purely nostalgic. I very much doubt that earlier seasons were less buggy and more balanced. Amount of cheaters grew proportional to player count. Players want changes? They ban every new op, and Emerald Plains constantly banned after 3 years of whining for new map. So players don't want changes after all. Older not equals better, prove me wrong with some statistics and not old-man-butthurt
I've been a siege player from launch. Always thought it's the most fun game I ever played, especially because of the interaction you need to have with teammates. I think it's actually in a good state, it just got a bit stale, and how could it not be for a 6 and a half year old game. Still the only game you can play for that long and still have fun and find out new things. Just one true major flaw, as an Xbox player, the amount of mnk u find is just unbearable. The level of advantage they have in a game with no aim assist kinda destroys all the tactical side of it, and obviously makes all the fine tuning and balancing they do (like giving an op a nade instead of a claymore, slightly nurfing this or that gun) borderline ridiculous.
Been playing it since beta on pc and have almost 4.5k hours in the game as of rn and I feel about that it definitely is in a much better state that it was just 2 years ago even. Something I've noticed over the last 3 years is the decline of people willing to talk to their teammates over the mic system. It use to be every game I got into the whole team would be chatting and making callouts and now I feel lucky if someone even uses the ping system let alone give a call out. While you have your Mnk users on console us pc players have to deal with cheaters using menus. I feel as time has gone on I've lost that tactical thinking I use to have in the game.
I could name a couple other games that have a better replay value than siege and have been out longer than siege. Siege is just not what it used to be and the new operators they drop are subpar compared to the old ones. Lot's of potential for this game just flushed away because they wanted to be the next COD.
I love it when channels that don't have massive followings bring out videos like this that just slap. Top notch editing, research and overall production quality. They are some of the most enjoyable watches you can find on TH-cam. Amazing video man I hope to see more like it.
December 25th of 2015 I remember waking up opening my gifts and played siege, first map was plane, first operators doc and fuze, Siege helped me thru my teenager life, now that I’m an adult it just bring back memories playing till late night on ranked with my pals, no op/map bans, just proving who’s better with tactics.
This makes me so emotional, I played siege since release but stopped around year 5 and played a little in year 6... I miss the game so much, it has played such a big part in my life.. I’ve made so many friend along the way.. they changed so much, I can’t help but miss what was.
those old siege ambient sounds bring back the best memories, back when i first got a ps4 in middle school and early highschool, i recently just graduated and it makes me realize i met a good majority of my good friends through playing this game. siege will always have a special place in my heart
This just made me legit sad... Like I started in seige's prime, with Red Crow and just being reminded how far this game has fallen just makes me wanna cry. This game has been the end of my childhood > teen years > into my young adulthood, just wish it was how it used to be
I miss everything about old siege, the friends I made, the time I had back then, the intensity of the matches, life back then felt so straight forward and simple. Fun. We just didn't know we were having the best times of our lives until it's over. Pure nostalgia.
A close friend of mine I played siege with every night back in 2017-19 recently passed. This video kinda just brought back a rush of memories of me and the group we had playing every night having laughs and just enjoying the game. I can’t play this game anymore, not only cause it’s a shell of what it was but mainly because my friend isn’t here anymore to play it with me. I hope they do something good with siege, it was his favorite game
Never ever thought that I will hear Lorde in R6 vid but here we go. Great music choices and video editing. And about R6, the truth has been spoken. Keep it up, guys!
I got Siege for my 14th birthday back in January 2016. It was my friends and my go-to after school activity for about 2 years straight. I finally got high plat in Operation Health and it felt brilliant. School exams in 2018 reduced our playtime and we eventually faded out by Parabellum. I'm now 22 and recently my group came back to play Siege regularly and it's been brilliant but its not the game I remember. There's so much to relearn and I'm behind the meta by about 4 years. But there is something in the heart of the game that just makes me remember why I love this game so much. Whilst we enjoy playing it, Ranked 2.0 is abysmal, and the excitement I felt at reaching Plat back in 2017 just isn't possible today. I really hope they move onto Ranked 3.0 asap and bring back the emotion of ranking up.
This video was amazing and nearly got me teared. Man I miss the golden days of 2016-2019. I started during Red Crow and got active at the beginning of Velvet Shell and the game used to be so awesome up until the Iana Oryx season. Everything after that was mediocre or not so good. I stopped playing completely during Crystal Guard and I don't think I'll come back tbh. Subbed.
Bro I stopped playing for 3 years and was on and half once every 3 or 4 months the past 2 and recently came back and I’m having a good time with the game. Just get a duo or someone to play with and it gets fun.
Bro my friend got me into this game back in operation health, it was so broken but fun and I truly loved this game until now. It sucks seeing this game going downhill. We would stay up super late playing casual matches, and playing some good ol ranked. I truly do miss the good ol days
@@warv6552 because the old game was fucking broken, and nobody at the time enjoyed dealing with the amount of technical issues you'd have to put up with on a daily basis.
I remember the first match I did of Ranked. My teammates checked my profile and saw I didn't have any previous Ranked history, and asked "What are you doing here?" before proceeding to throw the match because I hadn't played Ranked before. That was my first and only match of Ranked before I ended up dropping the game entirely.
I'm so.. so glad I was able to play this back during the hype days of Chimera, up until steel wave when I dropped it. I came back around the time of thunderbird, only to drop the game for the last time. I haven't played since then, and this just hurts. Not just because of the changes, but because the memories that I left behind. 2018 meant I was either a freshman, or early sophomore, as I remember playing the game near the end of Chimera. My brother bought the game for me, a few days after our grandmother had passed away from oxygen complications. This game was what brought me and my older brother, with an age gap of about 6 to 7 years, together as family. It's even what got me to buy a headset so I could talk in a party with him. I remember my first friend group online. The nights I spent in my living room playing with one of my school friends who I had convinced to buy the game. 2018 to 2020, some of the best years I've had with this game. The friendships I've made Ones I've even kept to this day. It hurts to see how sterile and passionless this game feels. Seemingly focused on being a game about balance and perfectly flawless game design, and not the stupid fun that made seige worth buying. Now pro league runs the show, and while i use to love watching pro league, the experience has soured as siege becomes more watered down like call of duty It's lost it's identity; becoming a mainstream monolith has made it lose its colors, it's passion. And that hurts, I feel like Im watching an old friend who has become a shell of who they are. They may be doing well, but they just aren't the same fun as they use to be. I'll never forget the memories i had, the growth i underwent because of the safe space this game provided And most of all, the memes, the beautiful memes. Thank you for this trip down memory lane. Edit; WE'RE BACK BABYYY joined back during the season of brava And while itll never be like the old days Im having fun with my new friend group Im actually enjoying siege Heres to another 3 years Edit 2; we are definitely so back. Year 9 is here and im enjoying every moment. W7M vs Faze going down as the best grand final in the world.
I pre ordered the game and used to play it every day. As much as I’ve stopped playing I still revisit it as they’ve added some new customization, but I’ll never forget how much fun it was at its peak. The memories I made will live in infamy among my friends and although I’m sad it fell, I’ll always love those memories more than anything
I remember back in high school when like Lion Finka Maestro and Alibi were coming out, GOD I was so addicted to the game back then. That was absolute PEAK siege for me back then
I think the game has it it’s low peak. They finally seem to be picking the quality back up, but we won’t ever get back to the realistic and gritty style we had in those first two years of content. It will still be a hero-shooter but maybe the developers can actually improve the maps and content.
Honestly, better anticheat and a “legacy” Y2/Y3 gamemode which only allows operators up to Y2 or Y3 to be used and on top of that restores their mechanics to what it was at the end of that year (this restores a lot of operator balance that was put into the game in Y2 and Y3) would go a long way in restoring a lot of interest and I’m pretty sure everyone is all for just restoring a bunch of the mechanics in every gamemode, the quick lean was a great skill based function
When used right it was skill based however its never that simple. It made lean spamming a thing. On top of peeker’s advantage. I say the one shot head shot would have to go if they brought that back. Or keep the slowed lean speed but give us the old movement speed. Wait isn’t year 3 is when lion dropped… if it is then i say hellz nah.
Quick Leans is anti-tatical… I know there is not a single person in the military that can lean like that with all that gear and a gun like that. Leave that stuff to COD and Titanfall
This made me very nostalgic of the old days I used to play siege in 2017- 2020. Grinding ranked and playing games on old Clubhouse and Bank, having sweaty hands after clutching a round. I don't think we will ever get the old feeling back that siege used to give us. :/
played the game since beta, was my life for years playing ranked every day when i got in from school, clan scrims, sunday tournaments and that original pre black ice start screen just sent me back bro.
I will forever have respect for siege, yeah it’s not how it used to be, but that’s what life is about, changes. Siege may not be how we want it to be, but it’s there, and it’s always been there. I rather enjoy what I have than complain about what I have, and that’s siege. This was a really nice video, job well done. I love Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Peace ✌️
My problem was just that, it WAS good, it was great. And then they changed too much and made it to fit the space call of duty was leaving for other games to claim.
@@Jetiix siege is nothing like cod. It seems like in y7 they are making siege better by giving us good features like tdm, new maps, anti cheat, ranked rework and more.
Love the video man. I was recently Manual banned for literally no reason and the Ubisoft support team refuse to help me. I’ve played since Skull Rain and this video brought back some awesome memories. Thank you for the video.
This video filled me with nostalgia I wish i could go back to the good old days. The game is just so unenjoyable now. I remember when I played the game to have fun, now everything is about rank and kd or if theres a cheater on the other team, but anyways this video made me reminisce about how good the game used to be, Thank you.
Hey, I am curious, what exactly did you like more before compared to right now? The K/D and rank argument is questionable and I do not think that it holds any cedibility. I solo queue and I have no problem with this at all. The cheaters are a bit issue, but they will always be, it is a constant battle between cheaters and game devs.
@@toxicproxic in my opinion the game is way too convoluted now. Before the game felt like a tactical shooter that had gadgets that were not the main purpose but were an item that was used to enhance team play and gunplay. Nowadays the gadgets seem like the main focus and team play and gunplay seems to be secondary. I haven’t even been in a match and been at all concerned with the objective in a couple years, now all that matters is getting kills. I don’t know, but siege feels so generic and lifeless now, like a shell of its former self. It shouldn’t even be a Rainbow Six game, it is laughable that is marketed as one. I’m sure Tom Clancy is rolling over in his grave with what has happened to this franchise.
I started playing when Finka came out, played for about 2 years, then stopped. And then in early 2021 I started playing again for about 4months. And now I'm back into it. It's been a fun time
I feel like one thing that’s been undermined so much is the graphics changes. They peaked in 2017/2018 and have somehow gone far downhill by now to the point where it looks like a Roblox game. I know there were heavy issues with lighting and all that stuff, but the game just looked so much better and realistic, and now it’s been downgraded to garbage.
Wow this hits hard. I started at closed beta...left siege last year. Siege was by far the most enjoyable amd challenge game ever. Thanks for this video
Many good points here and you didn’t even touch on the TK issues and utter toxicity towards newer players or solo queued players. That’s what ultimately ruined the game for me. I’d pick my operator and be TK’d because someone else wanted them. Then I’d either be TK’d at the start of the round no matter who I picked, or I’d be vote-kicked on round 2. I think a lot of the changes were bad but the community kept shooting themselves in the foot by making the game an unpleasant experience then wondering why people were leaving.
I didn’t start playing til like 2019. Missed out on so much. Glad I was able to see content from the years I missed! Thanks! Still love & enjoy this game
It makes me very sad to see this downhill spiral. I've been playing since beta and have taken breaks in between. I have thousands of hours in this game and it has literally changed and shaped my life. I hope Siege gets better, just like you said, there will never be another game like it. Whatever happens, I will never forget Rainbox Six Siege.
all of 2017 and half of 2018 was one of THE FUNNEST eras of gaming I've ever experienced and Siege was at the heart of it. I miss that time a lot of the people I spent it with.
I have played siege since December 2015 and so far have played every single season, but siege is definitely not perfect it has its issues but the thrill of a 1v5 clutch is a feeling no other game has made me feel. That's why I still play siege, nothing else comes close to that experience I just hope things improve as they did in 2016.
Seeing all the clips with Kix reminds me of the good old days of siege… I stopped playing after he passed away. But until then the game was one of the greatest I had ever played and I have very fond memories of the game with my friends. All I have to say about it now is a fond farewell and hope they release a sequel that has the feel of old siege again.
As someone who played the game for 4 years spending more than 4k hours in this game its sad to see where the game went. i loved the nostalgia in the video but there is no way i will play that game again. i have a lot of good memories, meeting new people that i am still friends with till today and having an awsome time, but those days are over because i think R6 will never reach that golden era status again. Really nice memories and really nice video portraing the way R6 has came from. Thank you!
I played R6 for a 4 years straight after the released and it was my favourite game. I quit almost 2 years now cause my friends stopped playing and it became super boring. Haven't played since and I probably won't play again sadly. I've made the most memories on R6 and it's kinda sad that I won't get to relive the same experiences again. Maybe on a new game, but playing this after a long day of high school with my best friends was the greatest feeling. Thank you for making this video. Honestly, it made me shed a tear cause all the memories flooded back.
I'm new to the game right now and I'm having the time of my love. I'm loving this game. The funny part is that I'm sure 5 years from now I will be filled with nostalgia and complaining about the "new siege".
While siege has declined in quality, I don’t believe that it is nearly as bad as people make it out to be. While I understand that as someone who joined during White, I don’t know some of the golden era but I still got to experience much of sieges best times. And now I believe that even though the game has changed it is not a game I’m a state where it needs to be talked about in the tone similar to current battlefield and call of duty. I appreciate the time you put into this video but I have to say that I don’t agree that siege has declined to the point of death. Yes PC is a hacking mess, Yes Console has to deal with M&K, but it is not an unplayable game. I Just wanted my opinion as a current console player.
Fantastic take, as someone who still plays the game every now and then and keeps up with it I believe siege is in a OK state rn and future is looking good! Hacking is still a thing, as in 99% of multiplayer fps, but rn is not as bad as this video makes it seem. I am high gold/low plat and I maybe encounter a cheater every 50 games ish.
@@TheSersoi no argument here ,player since beta , I can say acog felt like a liver removal but I can still breathe with one , but now with the new sights , it’s restored:) mnk players aren’t much of a deal with the new fov . @@TheSersoi there is your answer... high gold and low plat barely any cheaters, you have to be platinum 2+ to experience the fun. You cant beat em you join em!
Hearing “chimera” gives me heartbreak. It wasn’t just an over powered op. It was the reason for everything that came after. That game has been slowed down little by little ever since.
Idk but after some time playing this game ive seen a lot of things especially on how many people get banned for cheating...they have to give more time on anticheats rather than new maps or reworks that would make the game a bit better imo.Great video btw!

This shit hit me hard. I’ve been diamond for a very long time and one time champ I can say for certain that at the beginning this game was brilliant and now it’s just absolutely devastating to watch it crumble to nothing.
I grew up with this game, Today I can nearly bring myself to play it. I love it, but my want to play it doesn't come from what it is. It comes from what it was. Amazing video.
To me it feels like a drug addict chasing that first high that was the best thing ever only to realize no matter how much you chase it it ain't gonna be the same ever again
This brought tears to my eyes, having invested over 3000 hours into this game, I feel like I’ll be losing a part of me if this game continues this downward spiral into it’s projected end.
@@gumpoppers far more broken, far worse balancing, unnecessary and bad map reworks on almost every map, poor operator design; hardly the same game anymore.
This brought a tear to my eye, going thru all the nostalgia of siege with all operations and operartors. I got into the game back in january 2016 and i remember all the fun times i had with my friends throught out the years and in like mid 2020 after over 6k hours i achieved my long dream of getting but after that i decided to quit because the game really was taking a toll on me so me and my friends decided to start a journey in Warzone. But gosh was it fun all these years of memories just makes it even more sad to see this game go
This video a year ago would be spot on but the game has been getting a lot better the last season or 2. New map is fun, most of the new ops are good and the meta is fairly good (other than the LMG spam)
You never get to play the new map in ranked, ranked is just Oregon and clubhouse simulator and they’re good maps but it jsut gets old, siege is a shell of its former self especially on console with mnK players running rampant
@@kyletheunit not the same. Not all guns can run angled without ridiculous recoil. (For long range or longer sprays). I guess it's fine if you wanna use short bursts but your not always gonna hit first shot headshots.
Love this game, I still play it a good amount nowhere near as much as I did in years past. I just can’t find a game that’s so unique and complex, I hate the direction it’s gone and Ubisoft fumbling the bag but I still have love for it and the many friends I’ve met playing it
I think you hit on the point that's holding Siege back now, which is lack of content. Reducing the crouch/lean spam meta (which was never fully tapped into in the first couple years) is a big improvement. But Ubi is so scared not to release an Operator like Lion, Ela, or Blackbeard that they are releasing one new Op a season that isn't changing the meta. If Siege wants to grow again we need new maps and more creative operators. Azami is a step in the right direction.
well you sure arent playing siege... soooo many ops changed the meta, Aruni literally had a gun nerfed TWICE because of her existence alone. and btw its true that they release only one op bcs quality > quantity look at the ops in Y6, noone is bad like theres no warden type stuff. but, the real reason they release only one op is to further increse sieges lifespan, lemme explain: siege is already a heavy game but if the amout of stuff they add reaches even higher values many people will have trouble playing the game because not many have cash to spend on high end pc or PS5, overall 1 op/season is a great change and they will never bring back 2ops/season
@@mirandexx yeah i also believe covid had an impact but i hope they find a way to fix the cheating as you have the cheating then you have the plague on console that is they haven't addressed the mnk users
I don't think you've played Siege, especially at a professional level, Ops changed the meta's drastically. Basically creating a team format of what and what not to have on a team.
I started Siege in 2018 in Burnt Horizon and had fun since I was a casual player. Now 4 Years Later, playing every day against cheaters in only plat elo, there is a need of Operation Health 2
I play in high play ELO aswell in Europe but I don't feel like is that many cheaters at all last 2 seasons. Thou hard to know from closet cheaters but the blatant ones comes maybe 1 in 20-25 ranked games at least. But assume diamond/champ has it way rougher because cheaters rank up asap to that ELO. But all games has cheaters and imo at this point siege could be doing worse on the cheater front :p
Cheaters... Yeah boosting your skill with ESP it's only 12$ per day.. Like wtf, Tbh i never face blantant cheater in my entire gameplay, why? In sea server cheater are more prefer ESP (wallhack) than any other cheat. Covering their motive with pre fire every time they peek the opponent n i clearly remember one session game there's no drone at all im hiding in the place that far away from site n nobody will ever think i would be there, just for test he wouldn't find me, but my assumption was correct he run like hell find me in cornerwall. I decide to leave siege next season.
This video really hit some feels for me. I'll never forget those early days of Siege when it was first released, can't believe it was that long ago now
I genuinely cried when i tried to replay the game after i dropped it for 2 years. To see something you spend time and truly love turn into the decrepit state its in is heartbreaking. This game is on life support.
dumped thousands of hours into this game since 2017 and over the course of the last couple years I have come to terms with the fact that siege will never go back to the game we all loved. I honestly feel that keeping siege going like this is just going to taint the great memories.
This video is amazing thanks for the effort you put in it, just wanted to say we all veteran players who came from beta or even alpha to nowadays and still on siege, we all have great memories and we all have lost people we loved during the course of this game till today, it's amazing how a game can change ur life, if u re reading this i just want you to wait for a sec, and think about all your memories you have, nostalgia hits different man..😭
First of all, I have to say thank you all so much for all of your support, kind words, stories, and criticism!
As usual, your support and feedback is eternally appreciated, much love to you all :)
from bxT and Mystik
Thank u for giving us the history of rainbow and showing us the changes and fixes they have implemented, we love your content

Same I remember so many nights on skyscraper and consolet, but I could play anymore after what ever the desert operation was
Honestly I was still finding ways to have fun until they removed recruit in ranked and his loadouts and changed the UI drastically every season and resettled cosmetics loadouts and keybinds every season which is saying a lot considering the fact that most by that point had already stopped having fun on the game. Great video though. Started playing back during the closed beta and officially gave it up with the rest of my squad in 2020. It was the last thing keeping my friend group together and unfortunately I can’t even go back and play the game by myself because of the disgraceful mess it became
True, the game went from a more slow and tactical shooter to a cod rush fest, totally lost its charm.
True. Shit is AIDS.
The amount of cheaters has sky rocketed since this video launched.. you’re not missing anything still.
As someone who started playing the closed beta this really hit. I haven’t touched the game since year 5 and don’t plan to and tbh I lost all hope for the game.
Best way to put it.
TRUE!
It's the constant punishment from the devs that did it for me.
Removing fun and unique mechanics that make Siege what it is. (Throwing back grenades, quick lean, drop shot, etc...)
Useless map changes (No more shadow or dark corners, No night map, new maps looking super bright).
Anime hero shooter the fuck are you talking about dude not even close to that weeb shit
Besides that tho this video was really well made, great job
I get what your saying on them needing to release new maps but people just ban it anyway, so it defeats the purpose.
Secondly, they make EVERYTHING bright & colorful. It’s just so out of touch? Not everything irl is BRIGHT NEON orange & yellow
@@userb1x1 I really miss when the color palette was much grittier and didn’t just look like overwatch
Just an overall bad experience, the game was so much more fun in like 2018-2019
Yup, Like all of the recoil and scope removals. Ubisoft Montreal is trash AF
I don't think it's the devs trying to keep things "fresh" so much as it is them trying to keep things "balanced," mostly to appease Pro League (who ironically dislike several changes made for them).

This was great man. Well done!
This is an FPS game nonetheless.

The level of advantage they have in a game with no aim assist kinda destroys all the tactical side of it, and obviously makes all the fine tuning and balancing they do (like giving an op a nade instead of a claymore, slightly nurfing this or that gun) borderline ridiculous.
siege aint the only game you can play after 6 years and still have fun or find new things lmao

Keep it up, guys!
haha i knew exactly which songs would fit the theme of the vid well
I was thinking the same thing. It caught me so off guard
I'm glad a relatively small channel like yours still has a chance on YT, great video and I hope to see more in the future!
Subbed.
I used to remember all season names up until void edge. After void edge, season names were not a thing anymore
@@Samconery kinda true. For me the game got stale after Ember Rise tbh.
Bro I stopped playing for 3 years and was on and half once every 3 or 4 months the past 2 and recently came back and I’m having a good time with the game. Just get a duo or someone to play with and it gets fun.
@@getrektnoobgg5043 facts bro the same thing that i did it’s actually fun
When r6 was actually fun🤧
Bro my friend got me into this game back in operation health, it was so broken but fun and I truly loved this game until now. It sucks seeing this game going downhill. We would stay up super late playing casual matches, and playing some good ol ranked. I truly do miss the good ol days
The new season is good rn
I understand both of you. Yes, the current season is good and Ubisoft made some refreshing changes, but Siege will not become the game it once was.
You miss the old days not the old game
@@poi24b3 Why not both
@@warv6552 because the old game was fucking broken, and nobody at the time enjoyed dealing with the amount of technical issues you'd have to put up with on a daily basis.
The friendships I've made
Ones I've even kept to this day.
It hurts to see how sterile and passionless this game feels. Seemingly focused on being a game about balance and perfectly flawless game design, and not the stupid fun that made seige worth buying.
Now pro league runs the show, and while i use to love watching pro league, the experience has soured as siege becomes more watered down like call of duty
It's lost it's identity; becoming a mainstream monolith has made it lose its colors, it's passion.
And that hurts, I feel like Im watching an old friend who has become a shell of who they are. They may be doing well, but they just aren't the same fun as they use to be.
I'll never forget the memories i had, the growth i underwent because of the safe space this game provided
And most of all, the memes, the beautiful memes.
Thank you for this trip down memory lane.
Edit; WE'RE BACK BABYYY
joined back during the season of brava
And while itll never be like the old days
Im having fun with my new friend group
Im actually enjoying siege
Heres to another 3 years
Edit 2; we are definitely so back. Year 9 is here and im enjoying every moment. W7M vs Faze going down as the best grand final in the world.

@@MomJeans1738 thank you, you too
Yeah, for a casual player the focus on the pro league really hurt. I wish r6s and you the best. Good comment.
Narrator: "The game hadn't had it's low peak"
@@ahta5708 I mean its better now than a year ago so
Just no im sorry
That’s great😭😭, I started playing in chimera, I felt steel wave is where it went downhill
i didn't expect u to have 850 subs this video is so professional, you should carry on this content
Appreciate the chance to be part of something beautiful!
And then they changed too much and made it to fit the space call of duty was leaving for other games to claim.
its the same shit. all that happened is you got bored of the game.
@@gumpoppers I still play R6, I enjoy playing it. Peace ✌️
@@Jetiix Well put. I think you're exactly right!
It's been a fun time
I have a friend who has been playing since year one.
he's finally dropped the game and doesn't even find it fun to even discuss anymore.
The video is damn good, hopefully it will eventually reach Ubisoft, great work
Well why don't we make it reach them? XD
@@fourofour9569 it’s Ubisoft they won’t care
I started playing from op health with 10 fps on my old laptop. And I m still playing this game from 2017 to this day continuosly ♥️
ROBLOX LMAO
Wow this hits hard. I started at closed beta...left siege last year. Siege was by far the most enjoyable amd challenge game ever. Thanks for this video
You lasted that long? I jumped ship like 3 years ago.
@@RAMMSTEIN4HIMMER thats about when my frustration began but i was determined to reach diamond....never did but still.
Very cool, love the quality you put on this it’s actually somewhat nostalgic even tho I came in around 2017-2018 the old clips made me melancholic
Whatever happens, I will never forget Rainbox Six Siege.
siege is getting better, this year they are adding new maps and tdm and firing range
all of 2017 and half of 2018 was one of THE FUNNEST eras of gaming I've ever experienced and Siege was at the heart of it.
1:17 the sound that always gives me goosebumps 😔
Thank you!
its the same fucking game you 🤡 all that happened is you got bored of it
i played siege in the goldens days man, great summer nights with friends, so many memories but it was all worth it
I played R6 for a 4 years straight after the released and it was my favourite game.

But gosh was it fun all these years of memories just makes it even more sad to see this game go
This video a year ago would be spot on but the game has been getting a lot better the last season or 2. New map is fun, most of the new ops are good and the meta is fairly good (other than the LMG spam)

Wdym? Melusi shook the meta. Goyo shook the meta. Azami is shaking the meta. Attackers are the strongest they've ever been.
well you sure arent playing siege... soooo many ops changed the meta, Aruni literally had a gun nerfed TWICE because of her existence alone. and btw its true that they release only one op bcs quality > quantity look at the ops in Y6, noone is bad like theres no warden type stuff. but, the real reason they release only one op is to further increse sieges lifespan, lemme explain: siege is already a heavy game but if the amout of stuff they add reaches even higher values many people will have trouble playing the game because not many have cash to spend on high end pc or PS5, overall 1 op/season is a great change and they will never bring back 2ops/season

Man the amount of times I got the chills during this video... Music is on point and the production quality is amazing, awesome job
Makes me so sad. I grew up on this and held on so hard but im finally convinced its over
I started Siege in 2018 in Burnt Horizon and had fun since I was a casual player. Now 4 Years Later, playing every day against cheaters in only plat elo, there is a need of Operation Health 2
that was 2019
I bought the game in 2018 and started in burnt horizon I just miss typed there
I play in high play ELO aswell in Europe but I don't feel like is that many cheaters at all last 2 seasons.
This gave me nostalgia and so many memories with online friends, i hope i can enjoy the game once more as i used too.
Operation health is my favorite memories of siege. It's so nostalgic think how that was 5 years ago.

dumped thousands of hours into this game since 2017 and over the course of the last couple years I have come to terms with the fact that siege will never go back to the game we all loved.
