Once more, beautiful work. Great attention to detail, patience and care. My father has one of those. He would have been 95 this year and I remember every time we'd go fishing together. Thanks
A complete transformation! Excellent job with the paint and detail work was top notch! Those tool boxes will be used for years and years to come. Very well done👍
I had one of those. Great job in bringing them back to life. I hope the young angler recipients appreciate and enjoy your work to rejuvenate these old classics!
Thank you Magdad. I imagine you get plenty of “special” requests from friends, in-laws, neighbors. I didn’t want to do this job because those plastic trays looked awful/ irreparable. I’ve spent more than a few hours searching for a solution. The grandfather was thrilled so all is real good.
I had a similar box that had a lot of worm burns in the trays but none were completely through. I bought some thin cork gasket material and cut that to fit the trays. I used automotive spray adhesive to hold the cork in place. On the outside, I used Evaporust to remove the surface rust, and it came out decent enough I decided to not repaint it. I took some boiled linseed oil on a rag and just wiped it down and let it dry. It returned most of the gloss and the rust never returned. I did have to repaint the inside bottom. I sanded the bottom, coated it with some rust converter and painted it with what ever blue I had. I then cut a piece of 1/16" thick rubber to fit the bottom of the box.
Outstanding projec and video! Excellent job as well! I had forgotten how cool handle use to be in those old boxes! They will enjoy these for many years! Merry Christmas!!
Great paint job. Am glad you didn't over do it by taking it completely apart and deal with having to put new rivets. Between us " I hate rivets" 🤣 - Merry Xmas to you and your family 🎄
My man and I came across one of these at a gas station close to the beach on our ride. I insisted we get it. Loving the video. If u wanna email me I'd like to know more. Then I can send you my restoration pics. Maybe compare note ❤
I have an Old Pal tackle box that belonged to my dad- can anyone please let me know roughly what year it would have been made? It's green with a white handle, hard plastic, made in Canada- thanks!
I always liked that style of box! Great job they look awesome! 😃👍
Thanks so much. Those boxes are built with “‘57 Chevy steel.” Will be a while before the bottoms rust out.

Nice box. A simple but very satisfatory renovation. Nowadays, the boxes are all plastics. Congrats!
Thank you Mauzim! Appreciated.

No clue on date. These two are probably 1960s vintage.
