You won’t need a inductor with this setup as the voltage and current it can handle is very low so you won’t be over saturating the ferrite rod. This isn’t 40.000 volts it’s only 1000 volts it’s ruffle 3000 volts for every 1mm spark gap and you can see he has to touch the other wire to start the arch as it won’t jump across

got to be honest with you bro but that has newer even seen 40kV the arc jumped like maybe 5mm at the best so its 5kV at ideal conditions.. the worst conditions it needs around 3kV to jump 1 mm. but cool build still
It is not a tazer or a stun gun, those use HV DC pulses. This is a high frequency AC. It cannot stun you due to the skin effect, but it will burn like sh*t if you touch the arc. The circuit is a modified Royer oscillator.
This transformer is rubbish he obviously doesn’t know much about transformer making and the driver circuit isn’t very good the voltage is too low. He says it’s 40.000 volts but as you can see from the spark gap it’s about 1000 volts, you can get much better results from a electric plasma lighter with a arch of 5/10mm and that is 10 time smaller than this setup

Resonant operation boosts voltage, tesla coil style. But the spark gap testifies we're still far below 40kV.

From the spark gap I'd estimate closer to 4kV output, not 40kV. And a frequency far too high to be an effective stun gun.
